  • Since the Arex ReX Zero 1 showed up on the market, it has been making some pretty big waves. Not only has stolen more consumers from a popular German manufacturer than anyone ever thought it would, but it gave shooters a lower cost choice with some reasonably unique features. In this episode of TFBTV, Patricks takes the reasonably new ReX Zero 1 Compact out to the range to see what all the fuss is about. Is the Slovenian wonder pistol all that it is cracked up to be? Watch the video to find out what Patrick likes about the ReX Zero 1 Compact and what kinda turns him off from the pistol.

    Cheaper and more reliable than the P226. Stiff out of the box, wears in well. Nothing but love for this pistol.

      the Sig p226 has been widely considered the most reliable gun ever made. When the navy seals chose it, it was because it went forever without a failure. the beretta wasnt even close. Its almost impossible for a 226 to fail. I have no clue how anyone could possibly say this is more reliable. Has it been carried for years by navy seals in all types of conditions? then how would you have any idea how reliable they are?

      @@FoxholeIndustriesberettas are as reliable as any 226. The problem with the M9’s that the US military got is pretty apparent. Take a look at what surplus m9 15 round mags are made of. Feel one in person. The entire thing, including the follower is made of the same pot metal.
      Same thing with the guns. They were massively cost-cut to the point where they just couldnt survive being abused for 30 years.

    I have the full size Zero 1 and I think it is an awesome gun. I also own the Sig 226 and in my opinion the Zero 1 goes to to toe with the 226. The only thing that I did was change the slippery grips. No problems whatsoever and ejector button works just fine. Thanks for the video and cheers!

    The magazine release isn't stiff, it's the nature of the mechanism...It's a one piece design, so when you're pressing the right side, the left is pushing up against your finger making it seem stiff.

    guys, forget the SIG. look at the NB INAT B210 "Gepard". Rex Zero 1 is actually BB210 pistols, made by Serbian engineer Bozidar Blagojevic, after he left gun factory Crvena Zastava Yugoslavia now Zastava Arms, Serbia. He made new line of pistol BB210 Gepard, this gun are modernized well known CZ99 (now EZ9 or CZ999) guns made by same factory in late 80s. After his death his son try to sell this guns to zastava but they refuse to buy it. After negotiation with Slovenians, they finally accept his terms and made his/his fathers BB 210 Gepard guns as Rex Zero 1 gun.

    With the export ban on German SIGs and now they are going out of business I'm really glad this pistol came out. Since SIG in America got fully Ron Cohen'd at least if you want a quality pistol at a good price with the form factor of a 226 or 228 this has got you covered. In a few years I hope there is more of an aftermarket for them since they are gaining steam. A short reset trigger bar and some options for trigger jobs would be nice.

    I hit up a new LGS that actually had two full size Arex's in stock.
    A few observations:First off, I want to say that I am a Sig Sauer fan, I own three Sig Sauer Pistols, with my 226 being my longest owned handgun at over 20 years.
    The Arex does look like a Sig, but it really is it's own gun.
    The Fit and Finish is very nice
    The Double and Single action trigger was very, very nice. Double action was heavy, but was smooth and had a consistent break. Single Action was very crisp.
    The gun pointed very nicely.
    My only ding on the pistol, in my hand which is probably on the medium/large size, it felt fat in my hand. My 226 feels slimmer than this pistol.
    But over all, I was very impressed with the pistol.

    • @eugenek8197
      @eugenek8197 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Patrick. Great review. I wish you elaborate on accuracy and grouping just a little. I own full Zero model. The slide stop is pretty stiff after 1000 rounds. But, I think stiff slide release was designed that way. . It is stiff on empty mag only. Once full mag is inserted it is not worse than any other handgun, if not better, IMHO it's very intuitive, since you have to apply deliberate force to close slide while gun is empty. Deliberate effort would remind you that there is no chambered round .
      Double action is very heavy. I wish there is a hammer spring similar to D-spring for 92. It does not need to be very heavy, since unlike SIG the gun has safety lever and you don't have to rely on double action as your only safety mechanism.
      Keep up the great work, I love TFB TV.

      TFB TV I am curious. how many rounds were out through the pistol and secondly, was a recheck of the trigger done after some range time? I'm curious if it gets any better after some break in. the triggers on my glocks all went down between .5 and .8 lbs after about 1,000 rounds just from items wearing into place.

      +TFB TV Odd that the trigger and slide release was so stiff for you. Most reviews, especially table tops didn't have those issues... I held one and fired it at the range myself before declining to buy (because I'm a derp and only like .40s), and the release functioned smooth and the trigger was crisp... might be bad from factory? Had something like that happen with a moss berg shotty I bought last year... had to send it in and fixed.

    Slovenia used to be part of Yugoslavia. Crvena Zastava copied the SIG within some modifications back in the late 80s with the CZ99 (Crvena Zastava 99). This looks like Slovenia simply decided to sell a pistol that already had most of the R&D done and made a second generation clone.

    finslly they took my advice. make it compact and cheaper. now if they want to kill sig than give it a wide range of sights from red dot to night sights. maybe give it a personal light that matches the gun like bersa has. the only other thing i can think of is if they market it as a budget defense pistol. not many people think of that. glock sure hasnt they banked off of "police use us so should you" marketing. that one pistol you can quickly take out and use, make it into any thing you want at a cheap cost.

    Funny how people dislike any gun with a safety. Well no one force any one to use a safety. Guns doesn't automatically put them selves on safety. If you don't like safeties, then don't use it.

      Justin Miller you've replied with the same statement on three different comments. Just because the factory specs give one number or your particular examples measures at a certain number doesn't mean this particular example can't be different.

    • @justinv3080
      @justinv3080 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Murphy82nd that would be ridiculous for multiple samples to be around 4.5 lbs and him claim 7 lbs. I have seen minor differences in the same pistol but not that much.

      then you must not handle a ton of guns. Not terribly common, but hardly unheard of. It's no different than most out of box Ruger rifles and pistols having "meh" triggers and finding one that actually has a nice one. Machining ain't perfect, and there are enough variables than an ugly duckling sneaks through from any manufacturer.
