If there’s ever a character who needed a winglet, it’s Albatross. We NEED to see in his head over the years. My dude was basically tormented to insanity. I need to explore that
The Royal SeaWing Massacre is honestly such a great scene. We knew about it since The Lost Heir, we knew what was coming when we got Fathom's POV. Yet Tui did such a great job of making Albatross an unpredictable offender. The scene itself had me so invested I completely tuned out reality. Would really like a Winglet or even a book like Darkstalker or Dragonslayer about this guy. He deserves one.
I wish tui would write a book about albatross and how he slowly turned, because we only have theories to back up his blood lust. It would be great to know his turning point and snap, basically just his thoughts during darkstalker
It should also be noted that an albatross is a type of bird that eats primarily fish. SeaWings are very fish-like and are sometimes named after fish, meaning his name could be a reference to the massacre.
I know nobody will see this, but I just want to mention how 4rcane is the reason I started drawing dragons. At the time I started watching their content about a year ago, my style just so happened to be very, very similar. I thought I couldn't draw stylised dragons at the time, but 4cane's artwork proved otherwise. This comment is really just my way of saying thank you. ❤
The way albatross tells lagoon not to do the animus test and saying he was enough makes me think he wanted to protect the dragons from lagoon and her manipulative and narcissistic behaviour
Honestly? Albatross is an example of a product of his environment. If his sisters was even just alittle nicer he mightve had not done what he did. Or even if he just killed his sister instead of killing everyone. Then I think alot people in the Fandom would agree him snaping was justified if he'd only killed him sister.
Yeah, Lagoon was mean. But she's still family. I mean, bossy older sister stereotype is relatively common in books. Also I doubt he would've done the massacre if he hadn't done that thing with the seashell biting off Sapphire's talons.
@@Borzoi7777 I pretty sure She used the whole biting over sisters claws of with shell as manipulation. She was a bit worse than a typical bossy older Sister in the treatment of siblings.
@@theoryfoxes1879 definitely. She knew she was the only candidate for queen now. I wouldn’t be surprised if she said something like: “I won’t tell our mother what happened if you’re basically my magical slave until I die.” Then, at the party, Albatross decided to speed up that last part
@@theoryfoxes1879 Yeah. I mean, Sapphire wasn't too bad, she was just young when she got her claws bit off by a shell. She was most likely just following Lagoon when they were bullying Albatross. Lagoon was the problem. I kind of wish Lagoon was the one who got her claws bit off.
So you're saying that Lagoon would have, if she had more of a way to control him, forced Albatross to take another wife and have kids? EDIT: I said Sapphire by accident
Because the whole losing your soul to animus magic is BS. Every dragon who went crazy from animus power had someone in their lives that was scared of their power and actively tried to assert their control over them. Lagoon only saw Albatross and by extension, Fathom, as tools for her own means, and years of feeling stuck with no way out, with the comment on Sapphire being the last straw, caused him to finally snap. Queen Diamond controlled Arctic’s every move until he finally ran away with Foeslayer. Because he was raised that he should be scared of his magic, he tried to control Darkstalker on these ideals, which was his inevitable downfall.
Exactly. It causes a shift in thinking, and it's difficult for someone like that to interact normally with others. When you have the power of a god, well, it's only natural that others should listen to you, right? You're not evil, you're just making the hard choices for their own good, or treating yourself to a little something for once since everyone wants you to enchant stuff for them. The line in the sand shifts and gets swept away without a sound, without a trace. Perhaps it's visible and noticeable to others, but not to you. You've got your eyes on the horizon. You're going to do great things, why would it ever cross your mind that you've lost perspective?
Albatross is easily one of my favorite characters in the books the horror of animus magic and it’s capabilities, how he almost seems to snap but on a second read shows how he was angry from the beginning, so good!! One quick detail, both Orca, Fathom, and Turtle were born animus and none of them have pale scales rather dark scales by comparison and anemone wasn’t born an animus, but rather enchanted by Turtle to be animus so pale scales are likely not a genetic trait, my theory is Albatross getting it was a genetic mutation, it’s likely that animus magic is caused by one gene or more so it is very much a possibly since mutations are pretty rare especially ones caused by multiple genes, I also bet that Anemone was colored like albatross as a parallel to him, what she could have become if she were to keep being used as a weapon.
Actually Tui has confirmed that he is not part IceWing. I don’t remember exactly which “Common wings of fire myths and misconceptions” video it was in, but I remember it was a pretty reputable channel?
( I think ) It has been confirmed that Albatross isn’t part icewing and just got the lightest form of seawing scales ( this is the same thing with anemone)
I highly doubt the pale scales being a sign of animus magic, here's why Anemone was not born an animus, she was enchanted by turtle Even though we dont know orca's appearance, its unlikely she was pale Turtle is dark, bright green
OK. So ur theory about animus seawings having very pale scales most likely isnt true, or only *some* seawings have pale scales. Mainly because both fathom, turtle and orca did not have very pale scales. Also anemone was not born an animus, from the 9th book turtle admits in a flashback that he *enchanted* anemone to be an animus. It also states in the flashback that she already had pale scales before she was turned into an animus. This is just a theory. Idk i just wanted to get this out here. If you have anything else to add pls do ^^ do remember that I only wanted to discuss this so please do not start any arguments.
Good point. My theory is, as this magic was new to Seawings and Albatross himself had been quite young, he may have just been in shock after the incident, not really thinking of trying to heal her with his newfound powers, but more "what have I done?" and "how?" And Sapphire's own trauma from what happened, probably made her terrified of Albatross even as they got older. It is possible the idea struck Albatross at some point and he likely suggested it to Queen Lagoon who already had him under her thumb by that time and she likely waved it off as unlikely that Sapphire would even let him get close to her as he has traumatized her so badly. (Once again using Albatross' own trauma against him, while keeping herself Queen)
I’m not trying to be mean nore sound mean but in book 9 it is said that turtle was born an animus (note he has green scales not pale blue) not wanting anyone knowing his secret he cast a spell on anemone to make her a animus too.
