    Thank you so much for this very instructive video. I've been using the function buttons ineffectively thus far. Now I know how to use the mode dial more instead of just PASM. Rob, please don't worry about your video being too long. I feel it's at the right pace to bring your points across effectively

    You are awesome! Thanks Rob for pointing me here in today's live chat. Before now, I never really fully understood how useful this feature is. I just now successfully managed to set my C1 for focus stacking and C2 to pro capture. Such a time saver! Will be using it often here onwards!

    Really enjoy your videos clear and not rushed. Find setting mysets then assigning a function button challenging on the em5 mark 11 so this helps. Will have to watch again as I want to assign focus stacking to a function button then Birds in Flight etc. Just bought the F2.8 macro lots more to learn, keeps the brain alive.

      Underwater? Cool! I never go in the ocean anymore since my incident with sharks and barracudas. Nothing really happened, but they were there every time I got in to snorkel. One of the barracudas ripped some feeder food out of my hand and there was always a shark swimming 50ft below me in the sand. That was enough for me!

    • @JPHolbrook
      @JPHolbrook 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't blame you for staying out of the water after that! That's pretty aggressive behavior. You still have all your fingers? Olympus has very affordable housings available for most of their omd and pen cameras. I should say relatively affordable housings. When you look at the price of some housing manufacturers..wow! Oly comes in at around half the price. One thing with Oly is they have great sales so I was able to get into it without too much pain. :) I find I'm either shooting macro with the 60mm or wide angle with the pany 8mm fe. I can set mysets to go with each lens and one for video. Thanks again for making these videos. Cheers

    Great idea to use your least used program modes on the mode dial to call up mysets. Can these chanes to the mode dial be reversed to their original function? If so How?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Just reprogram the mysets to a function button or unassign them completely. If the mysets are not assigned to a function button or mode dial, then you will have to set them via the menu.

    • @RobTrek

      You should still be able to get to the settings through the menu or super control panel under "Picture Mode".

    Hi Rob, great videos, i got the EM 10 yesterday and Im trying to work it all out. When you do a reset at the start, does it reset all the myset settings? So each time you start a job/shoot you set all the mysets every time? Or do they stay programmed?
    Thanks

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks. Yes, the mysets are all reset as well. Best thing to do is program a myset with default settings, then you can virtually reset and program a different myset without resetting the entire camera.

    Hi! I want for aperture priority fn1 to be assigned to magnify and then to my set1 assign fn1 to back focus button. Is it possible to save different settings for fn buttons and save them to my sets?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Which model camera do you have? I just have my pen-f on me right now, but I can program myset with back button focus on Fn1 and save it to C1. I then program the Fn1 button to magnify when in Aperture priority. The Fn1 button changes whith the corresponding setting on the mode dial. So the answer is yes on the Pen-F. I'll my other cameras tomorrow and post back here. Thanks for your question!

    • @ChrisKaptain
      @ChrisKaptain 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just bought the olympus e-m10 mark ii. I want to photograph my kids while playing around with the use of: back button focus (fn1), c-af, aperture priority, low iso (200-1600), matrix metering, central focus point,...
      Set all the above to my set1 and assign it to scenes button.
      But when i choose A (aperture priority) i would like to have: magnify (fn1), s-af, auto iso, etc.
      Any suggestions on settings for kids?
      I am totally new here, coming from point and shoot cameras... (and i can say wow... night and day! I regret for that... so many moments in the past... anyway! I now love photography and i will certainly improve my skills.)
      Thanks in advance for your quick answers!
      Chris, Athens GR

      Hi, again.
      I just found that it can be done when choosing between sets from menu but for some reason when you assign sets to a custom button like art or scn everything changes except the fn buttons... strange.
      Do i have to update a firmware maybe?

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm heading out for my morning walk. I'll take my em10.2 and check these things out for you. As for photographing kids, I think the same settings for birds in flight work except change the shutter speed from 1/2000 to 1/250 and see how that works. If you haven't seen my birds video, it's here th-cam.com/video/E0hBOO3udIA/w-d-xo.html

    • @RobTrek
      @RobTrek  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. It's not the firmware. Since you can assign Mysets to function buttons, you can't assign function buttons to Mysets. I tried different ways this morning to no avail. When the camera has custom modes on the mode dial (C1,C2,C3,C4) like the Pen-F and e-m1, you can set the function buttons to a Myset since you cannot set Mysets to function buttons. At least that seems to be the logic. Hope that helps. -Rob
