    Very sad ...just out of words, but i think you definitely know what is the best for you and i am very confident you are doing the right thing. From my point of view, the farm will not last long without your technical experience and hard working ethic.

    Chris I have enjoyed your videos for quite a while and really enjoyed all of them. I feel really bad for what is happening. I worked for my father for a long time with the idea that I would own the business at some point. He sold the business and I left the next day. I rebounded really well and am doing well. You will too. Good luck. You are a great worker and good guy. Thanks for sharing your life.

    Glad you’re not giving up. One thing I really like about your channel, is that you’re so genuine. I see a lot of TH-camrs get that TH-cam money and now they just buy equipment and literally just play with it and not do any actual work. I really enjoy seeing you bring this old iron back to life and use it. The world isn’t sunshine and rainbows as you very well know and I’m glad you show the good and the bad. Keep it up. I can’t wait to see the next step and project.

    I think the dry weather has brought about some severe frustration in the family and Duffy has become the lightning rod. Unfortunately everyone can see that the successful future of the farm lies with Duffy at the helm. He displays that he is extremely resourceful and can squeeze oil from an oily rag. Traits of farmer. And that is what subscribers can appreciate.

    Very sorry. Been thru it. I have no siblings and worked my ass off since I was very young. My husband then joined me in 1996 worked alone side me. We put in long hard days. We was blind and didn't see the little hints. It all blew up in May of 2013 and we finally wised up and left. It turned out to be the best thing we could have done for ourselves and kick ourselves for not leaving years earlier. As they age they get worse. We are farming on our own and enjoying it. You will be just fine. In fact better off...

    Chris , stay strong you are a hard worker and obviously love farming. Having grown up in the Concord area in the 50's and 60's, there were very few dairy farms, most were vegetable truck farms. The Kenny's, Toronto's and the farms along Lexington Rd, which are sadly probably all gone now. When I started watching your channel a few years ago, I was thinking, what was your Dad thinking to start farming in Carlisle with the land prices and taxes in MA. After 70 years in Concord our family could no longer bear the burden of the taxes, we had to sell and leave. I'm sure your Dad will have problems in the very near future, obtaining reasonably priced hay and corn and will expect he will fail in the near future without your help. Look forward, as there are always opportunities that will present themselves, look for cheaper land in an area that still appreciates farmers. Thoughts and prayers for your future.

  • @jamessheldon3956
    @jamessheldon3956 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Personally I'd leave the option of chopping for the farm out there.. just up your price, charge them the max rate for custom chopping. It is something to consider at least. It might be good for the brand. Either way I am rooting for ya!

    • @robreesor5011
      @robreesor5011 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was thinking the same thing...full rates on chopper and his trucks per the hour meters on them all...doesnt mean he's going to come help any time they need him...it means Duffy AG is a buisness and is stepping up to make it...same with his manure hauling he has 2 tankers he can haul by the hour or by volume which ever works out better. Doesnt even have to be on his dads farm....also the disks and rolling baskets as well as the plow are all his so he could also do custom plowing/disking but full custom rates. Use his machines to build his savings because he needs his own tractor to pull that seeder...not sure the 7520 would be a good fit for planting unless it was a much bigger planter.

    • @jamessheldon3956
      @jamessheldon3956 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@robreesor5011 Yea for sure, he definitely has a lot of options. At least from my perspective but that doesn't mean much. The only thing I can think of that might be an issue if he went that route would be that the farm would charge him a storage fee for keeping his equipment on the farm to combat the prices... I'm definitely curious to see how he handles it.

    Just a question, why don't you make a clean business split and force the farm to buy you out of the robot. Or better yet, repossess it. Chris it will all end with you and Yanko being good we like your positive attitude.

    • @danielclark8036
      @danielclark8036 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When he commented about the robot I thought if it's yours take it back and the farm can buy it.

    • @lanlantheman
      @lanlantheman 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So if the farm bought him out, they would have to pay off the note completely right? I wonder what happened if they said no and quit paying on it, then what? He’s gonna be ruined. But let’s ask this question. Couldn’t he file for bankruptcy and get out that way? That would force the farm to do something or the robot would be gone. But then he’s about 5 years away from fixing his credit before he could do much. I tell you this is a rocky situation to be in and I wish it didn’t happen. Maybe he could give them a choice. Either bankruptcy, buy him out, or sell it to another farm.

    • @robreesor5011
      @robreesor5011 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think what he needs to do is sit down and talk to a lawyer about his options surrounding the robot debt...he may be able to sue the farm for the value of the robot then pay it off and get it off his credit...as it paid off it'll boost his credit as well possibly making him able to get a sleightly better farm credit loan. What ever way he does go he needs to get well away from his fathers farm and put that all behind him.

    Chris I was talking to Junkyard Digs yesterday and his corn in Iowa looks like the better parts of your field. I remember what your crop looked like last year and and this year is a failed crop year

    Just keep calm, head held high and carry on. Something similar happened with a local though it was his uncle I believe except he strung him along to get free labour to the point of telling him to lie to get benefits in the end though it got worse for the uncle as while he got another job elsewhere where he was valued the uncle lost everything as he couldn't pay his debts
