I live in Switzerland lol. The irony I get excited every time the day to travel to India approaches and become depressed as the day to travel to Switzerland approaches. The only reason I live here - money. Otherwise culture, festivals, colors, nature, spirituality, access to high quality vegetarian food, people India beats Switzerland hands down in everything. Which is why only gonna stay few more years in Switzerland and gonna return - India is rising. Just want to be sure that “democracy” is not brought to India by US in next 5 years. After that India will be big enough to handle itself.

Just the serenity of the temples, listening to the beautiful prayers, particularly in Sanskrit, going to Carnatic music concerts, soaking myself in the culture, talking to Indians of so many diverse languages, religions, cultural practices, sharing days and nights with family members I hadn't seen for some time, making new friends and being welcomed everywhere,.. that was and is real happiness. These stupidly worked out so-called measurements and ha ha "indices" are ridiculous beyond measure. Tell me you imbecile index merchants, what percentage of Indians wastes their time, money and health being depressed and paying a commercial medicine man to tell them that the world or someone in their childhood is responsible for their unhappiness. People in India are go-getters, especially nowadays. The country has a dynamism unseen in Europe. They have no need for recourse to psychiatrists like you do in your superiority complexed mindset. This so-called "happiness index" is in reality a measure of the stupidity index of the person or persons who set it up and boy, I give them extremely high marks on the latter.

I am living in a small village in West Bengal but i am happy with that because we have all facilities here. We have electricity, water, transport facility, internet connection and overall a good environment for living
Its more like "Ambition Index" than Happiness Index. And on top of it, the irony is that being ranked low on such an index just means that people are simply more ambitious and aware of possible opportunities, which is actually not a very bad thing.

BTW, those of us who live and travel outside Bharat are VERY familiar with the so-called Happiness Index of the western countries. Whether it is Australia, UK, America, Europe, etc.. every place has one and only one major Index of happiness: this measured by how intoxicated they can get after work. Fact. Also, even when they go out drinking, they are not really happy. They are either preying on vulnerable girls or pawing other men's wives, etc. Fights often break out at bars for this reason. I started ignoring the world happiness report when they put pakistan, afghanistan, sri lanka, iran and turkey above india, as all are either involved in war, earthquakes or financial and political crisis.

Jaishankar is spot on. I live in Finland. Finns are very content (satisfied) with their life. It is not the same as happiness. Contentment because people aren't ambitious at all and the state has your back almost all the time, and media keeps inflating the ego. Its more like "Ambition Index" than Happiness Index. And on top of it, the irony is that being ranked low on such an index just means that people are simply more ambitious and aware of possible opportunities, which is actually not a very bad thing.

Whether it is Australia, UK, America, Europe, etc.. every place has one and only one major Index of happiness: this measured by how intoxicated they can get after work. Fact. Also, even when they go out drinking, they are not really happy. They are either preying on vulnerable girls or pawing other men's wives, etc. Fights often break out at bars for this reason. I've seen it all. 🤷♂🤷♂

We might not have all the answers at the time but my highest respect to jaishankar sir anywhich ways. Also i don't understand why we have to keep proving to the world what India is as i have seen that no matter what these countries will keep mocking India because they don't have what we have and i feel they are quite jealous of us. It is true that if you see faces of the people in European countries maximum people won't even be smiling while in India even the poorest people will smile back at you. European countries are not important anymore for us to keep proving them facts of India. Jaishankar is spot on. I live in Finland. Finns are very content (satisfied) with their life. It is not the same as happiness. Contentment because people aren't ambitious at all and the state has your back almost all the time, and media keeps inflating the ego. If one feels like bragging about the happiness ranking, then he/she isn't really happy
