    Run string from your retro bottom drain. Saves you getting in. They need lots of regular maintenance. Nice pond.

    Darn leaves. 🍃 Problem is that a prefilter probably wouldn’t improve anything as it would just get clogged faster. An easier way to access the submersed pump might be some discreet rope perhaps.

    Assim, I bet that was cold in there, 🥶 thanks for the laugh out loud moment when you forgot to reconnect the pipe. 🤣 I have to get in my pond as I have no air getting to the spindrifter bottom drain, probably a kink in the pipe. But I'm going to wait for the weather to warm up a bit more. 😜👍🏼👍👍🏼

    TPPond do you think by putting skimmer floating or static would stop these issues ?? Just a thought . But least the pump didn’t go into Error Mode which there prone to do as I’ve got 2 and 1 had to swap error 3 and the other wasn’t performing correctly (I’m Never buying these again) would rather get the cheaper brand or pay few 100 more to get more reliable product that’s not Chinese 😅

      Hi Simon, I use a skimmer but it got air locked so I got vexed and smashed it to pieces lol got a new one which will be back up and running in the spring

    Hi pls can you tell me the name of the retro fit bottom drain your using or provide a link. Thanks

  • @markpaine882
    @markpaine882 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi mate, I have the same set up, retro to nexus although I have a 30K as it splits to sieve also. Around once a week I run the pump on full for about 5 mins in order to see if it pulls any crap. Whilst it won't clear if it is what you had but it may pull it through if it's only just started to build up.

    • @thepeoplespond
      @thepeoplespond  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mark...thanks for the comment mate that’s a really good tip about the pump and I will deffo be using that 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
      How do you split it between the nexus and the sieve? Very interested lol
      I used to pump to an Ultrasieve and then gravity down into my
      Nexus when I first started
      It worked..well I think it worked but people hated my theory 😂😂😂

    • @markpaine882
      @markpaine882 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thepeoplespond Hi Assim, Your way was fine, especially if it worked. I have T junction to split it and control the flow between the 2 with a ball valves after they split. That bit is a little trial and error to get the flow but I am happy it works. The other way is to purchase a Y splitter and that had the ball valve included, not sure if they go a high as 2" though, think that is 1.5" only hence the T and ball valves I went for.
      As my sieve is at the same heigh as the Nexus they work independently but do join up to return to the pond as 1 (gravity return). This works well for me so not worried what people think. I then run a skimmer line through a home made tempest style filter and back through a shower, again not the flow rate people recommend for a shower but it works. Water parameters are good all year round, no fish losses etc.

      Bit of the best of both worlds going on
      Sieve to take out major solids and then the nexus to do its job and the Len up flow for polishing!! Very nice Mark, you done good with that set up
      Fingers crossed it stays working just how you want it 🤞🏼
      would you go for the drum or stick
      With nexus?
      How big is the pond?

    • @markpaine882
      @markpaine882 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thepeoplespond Pond is around 2500 gallons. I like the nexus as they are so simple. Not sure about the drum as they are a lot of initial outlay and I wouldn't be confident if they fail of fixing myself.

    • @thepeoplespond
      @thepeoplespond  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markpaine882
      Nice sized pond there
      The nexus doesn’t really have anything that can go wrong as no moving parts
      But I just think a pond can be cleaner with the drum as the fines are always there with a nexus
