- Display of the Messerschmitt Bf-109, spanish built aka Hispano Aviación HA-1112-M1L Buchon with Merlin Engine.
The Hispano Aviación HA-1112-M1L Buchón ( male dove) was introduced into Spanish service 1956 replacing the former HISPANO HA.1109-K1L TRIPALA . This variant was fitted with a British Rotol four bladed propeller and a more powerful 1,600 hp Rolls Royce Merlin 500/45 V-12 engine was housed in a modified nose. The new engine increased the maximum speed to 665 km/h (413 mph), which was generally faster than Bf 109G Daimler Benz powered fighters. A total of 172 Buchón fighters were produced up to 1958 and flew in Spanish service until December 1965 A number of these planes were used in the 1969 Movie Battle of Britain.

Super einfangen den Deutsch-Spanier. Ab 0:35 hat er durchgehend Querruder rechts gegeben. Da ist einiges an Drehmoment dahinter und abschüssig ist die Bahn auch noch.

The inverted V engine gives a clean nose surface to Me109 than a RR Merlin or Hispano ones....

Is this going to be reengineed with a DB engine ? Oh don't get me wrong i still love it but something a bit special about the 109 with original engine. Greetings from steve in England to you and all who watch all excellent posts and fantastic photography 👍

¿Por qué utilizan el nombre «BF109»? Este modelo conservaba muchas partes del BF109, pero NO ES un BF109. Con la pérdida de la II Guerra Mundial por parte del III Reich, España acogió a Willi Messerschmitt y éste REDISEÑÓ su modelo original para adaptarlo a los medios disponibles, cambiando el motor original Mercedes Benz por un Rolls Royce Merlin y, consecuentemente, la hélice, pues el motor británico giraba en sentido contrario, además de tratarse de una cuatripala en lugar de la tripala original. Tuvo que modificar el alojamiento del motor para adaptar la línea, de ahí su apodo de «Buchón». Hasta el buje de la hélice es distinto, mucho más aguzado que el original. En resumen: NO ES UN BF109, sólo parecido.

Why not repainting these aircraft in the original colour schemes of the Spanish Airforce or, even better of the Israeli Airforce, where they served until the end of 50 - ies and in Spain even eraly 60 - ies?? :-)

The only thing better than this would be a ( very carefully planned ) Spitfire and or a P-51 to fly a dog fight routine with the 109 pilot !!!! Excellent air show !! BRAVO !!!!

Please get rid of the Merlin and go Benz. Merlin was junk that needed 100 to 150 octane just to perform, where as the benz performed with cheap 87 octane. Replace the ugly front for a g model
Imagine if at WWII german gasoline was of high octane... If DB 605 still performs very well with poor gasoline and lower compression ratio than a RR Merlin the great difference on air still was the quality of the pilots and his crew !
