    I used to visit this place in the late 90,s. It wasn't grown over in weeds and trees back then. Mr. Vickers had no problem letting us drive around looking. It was like going back in a time capsule. His prices were very good back then also.

      I used to visit his cousin's junk yard near by, back in the 70's. Lol. Both guys are reasonable. The place is really grown up for sure but a great place to hang out and visit. He welcomes everyone to wander around for as long as you like. Glad to take you back in time and thanks for watching.

    You found another good yard, this brings back memories of all the cars that were in the yards I used to hit for parts. You did find a rare piece in that 66 Lemans. I was stationed with a guy that had one with the OHV six and it ran pretty good. The old chevy that Tena liked looks like the 49 Deluxe I drove through high school. I hope you had a good veteran's day, after all it is our holiday. That wasn't a very hard one to guess about your next toy. I'm ready to hit some more yards, keep the videos coming.

      I live 25 miles from there. Been there many times. Yeah I'm sure California has land laws to where the state makes folks clean up junk yards like this or some regulation.
      There is a ton of cars here that if you need a fender, hood, trim you'd most likely find what you need.
      The problem is - go here in the winter time when nothing is leaved out. When all the leaves have grown it's hard to get to anything or see anything. So go in the fall and winter when the leaves have fallen off.

    There is (or maybe was) a junkyard like this in a very very small town in south Texas. The guy just passed away Feb 2020 at age 95. So at this point I am not sure if the family has taken over the business or if it still up and running.
    He had the coolest of many classics cars and trucks, even early farm tractors.
    He had this junkyard for many many years. I believe since after WWII. I would just drive around in there just to see what he had.
    One of the most oldest of unsold cars he had there for as long as I can remember is a REO Speedwagon truck I used to see him come up with some of the collest and even unusual of vehicles. He would travel anywhere to buy these vehicles. One time he and 2 others drove back dring 1950s model Greyhound buses. I seen him bring in old 1930s model firetrucks. Most of the time this stuff would not last very long and sold quickly.

    • @indyme2
      @indyme2  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Sir. I remember when there were great old junkyards all around my small town and others throughout the state. One just down the street had great cars from the 30's-60's. It would be kewl if they had local Community Collage, Trade School and High School auto mechanics and auto body students (with instructors) go through these places (after some clean up) and evaluate the condition for useful parts or complete restorable vehicles (numbers matching prefered)?
    It would be good to relocate all of them somewhere to reduce further damage by their environment possible?

      @indyme2  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I used to teach Auto Mechanics at the local technical college. Most students in high school or tech have their own cars they are trying to work on and don't really have time for anything else. I agree with you that it would be a good idea for some auto classes to take in one or two project cars from these junk yards, fix and auction off at the end of the year. The money could go into an a fund for future projects and tools / equipment. Great idea!
