Had the old, ones for some years and not Impressed given the price. The metal screw fitting on the bars has no flats for a shifter so you have to either use multi grips or file flats on it. The left side still moves and the mirror has a crack in it.
Do they have a wider viewing angle? I use Touratech aspherical mirrors with a very useful function - I can see any car even to the side of me. But they have short arms and I can't see behind them because of the elbows.
Hi Andrew, I've owned those Touratech mirrors and they are indeed much wider. This is more similar to the FOV of the OEM mirrors just slightly wider in width but not the angle.
You will like the double take upgrade . The upgrade is just an inch or so longer which really helps. I have had mine for a couple of weeks . So after my wife and I watched your video she wants a set for her F series GS . See what you have done . Thanks
I was looking them up on Amazon and I cannot find them. I guess I would have to go to the main website. Do you happen to have a part number for it? Thx.😊
That does suck and I've never had to deal with their customer service before but I'd send them an email and see what they say. I'd be pretty annoyed if they denied a swap for the latest model.
@@AdamChandler86 I find on my R1250GSA the mirror view is either a 1/2 or 1/4 of my shoulders depending on the side. I’ve been looking for a decent mirror extensions that won’t introduce vibration in the mirrors. I had Double take mirrors on my Honda AT and I found they would vibrate at certain rpm ranges at speed. Eager to try out these new ones on my GSA. Love the videos BTW!!! 😉
You don’t want them too tight off-road you want them to give in case of a mishap. Looks good but the old ones I have will be ok until I need to upgrade which may be a while I like the the new design
Yep, no need to upgrade if yours are working. This did solve a few of my complaints. The last ones I had to crank them to maximum and they'd still move.
I have the old ones. I find in order to get them on tight enough to not move, a huge dent appears on the ball, which makes it very difficult to adjust, as it always wants to fall back into the same depression on the ball. Am I the only one having this issue??
My old RAM balls are depressed after a few years (about 5+) The new balls that come with these mirrors are harder than regular rubber ram balls so maybe they'll hold up longer.
Interesting, but no way to put a lock on the knob, the way you can with the previous version that uses the stock RAM arm and knob. That seems to be a drawback.
Stupid of Doubletake to NOT house that tightening bolt into the arm like the old design accomplished.., so that you could optionally use the RAM LOCKING KNOB, .., instead of Doubletake , they should change their name to TAKE ME!
you can unscrew almost any mirror from the bar actually easier, as they have long lever arms. Taking it off on the bars gets you all the working parts.
It’s a motorcycle. Everything is easy to steal. OEM mirrors can be unscrewed by hand. 100,000 miles of riding and nothing has ever been stolen off my bike.
Hi, thanks for the video, it's great! I'd like to know if the one you've mounted in the video is the 3.5" or the 6" one. Thank you very much! Best regards
Excellent
Thanks for watching.
Hi. Great video....Where did You buy this mirrors extenders....they are great....thanks....
SW-Motech but they stopped making them. I love them and they're really well built.

They're really well built. I've never had issues with mine except scratches from years of cleaning them with a paper towel.
looks like huge improvement , mine are old version on dirt bike and I love them, barely used so I am sticking with old ones for now, cheers V!
Yeah, I have a farkle addiction if you haven't noticed.
@@AdamChandler86 my wife’s husband has the same diagnose , nothing more satisfying is than customizing shit, aaaaaand freaking everything 🤦🏻🤪🤦🏻

Thank you, Adam, for your reply. They told new version of adventure mirrors have wider FOV... So sad, so sad...
Use mirror risers and you'll be ok....
Thank you. Good idea. Will test it soon.

You can just order the upgraded components here w/o the mirror - www.doubletakemirror.com/components I don't know if they're on amazon yet.
@@AdamChandler86is the new model the same length?
i just ordered/received a set of these last month and did not get the updated arms and stuff. now i'm kinda pissed

What did you use for the mirror mount extensions on your bmw?
It's an SW-motech Mirror Extender which sadly is no longer made.

Did you get the 3.5 or 6?
Good question. This would be the 6” which will have more vibration than the 3.5

Nice review on the mirrors. What is the manufacturer of the hand guards?
Hello Peter. That would be MachineArt Moto.
@@AdamChandler86 Thank you for your reply!
Nice! Do you know a good windscreen for a 2015 ktm 690 enduro?
I ran the Puig Windscreen fora while. It looked great and did okay. Ultimately, a real rally tower did the trick for keeping all of the wind off me.

So they made it worse. Not compatible with standard ram. There care good copies of the old thing at Ali, working well.
That's a good point. I'm pleased with the upgrade but this does make them less modular than being standard RAM sizes.

Gee thanks Adam, more farkels to upgrade for me 🤣
Sorry and I just did a video about these a few weeks ago as a part of the bike build and then these come out.
So much better, the old ones were immensely ugly!
Agreed, these look great.
