Summary
In the age of thirty years before that may not be long Korn and Intouch, a university student in Bangkok.

Korn died without having to see his love die, so he just remembers their beautiful moments together. In saw Korn die and that leaves him with trauma and that's why Pharn only remembers the most traumatic moments. It's my theory.

I think this episode made me understand a little more why Korn did what he did, clearly he lived a very sad life, I believe he even had depression, due to the life he led and all the denial of his father's work,
he was a more sensitive man (even if he didn't show that much) and he didn't accept the life his father led and didn't even want that for him, and of course his father always humiliates and despises him. Sooner or later he would end up killing himself anyway, but Intouch was his happy period,
you know that sigh that you can have after a short breath? so, that was the importance of Intouch in his life, without a doubt Korn loved him, but in their 1 year dating scene, it is clear in Korn's face that even all of Intouch's happiness and love brought him, something was missing, even if there was a void.
After all, this is depression, no matter how much others love you, only you can save yourself, of course help is important but if you don't fight it is impossible for someone to get you out of it. And it is at the moment that their parents arrive that he is sure that they have never been together (he had noticed before,
when he starts to hesitate as soon as he arrives at their dorm), and in that instant nothing else matters, fear, despair, sadness, everything comes to light in such a fast way that he didn’t even imagine what Intouch’s life would be like if he left so dramatic way. Selfishness? maybe, but his pain was so great,
due to all his life history that he couldn’t even put his thoughts and order, just saw the opportunity and did.
Sorry, I could spend hours writing about UWMA and every detail that this series leaves, it touches on so many subjects and makes us reflect in many ways,
definitely for me this is the best series i've ever watched, just thrilling.

Acho que esse episodio me fez entender um pouco mais o porque de Korn ter feito o que fez, claramente ele vivia uma vida muito triste, acredito até que tinha depressão, devido a vida que levava e toda negação ao trabalho do pai, ele era uma homem mais sensível ( mesmo que não demonstrasse tanto) e não aceitava a vida que o pai levava e nem queria aquilo pra ele, e claro que o pai sempre o humilha e menospreza. Cedo ou tarde ele acabaria se matando de toda forma, mas o Intouch foi o período de felicidade dele, sabe aquele suspiro que você consegue ter depois de um tempo com falta de ar ? então, essa foi a importância de Intouch na vida dele, sem sombra de dúvidas Korn amava ele, mas na cena de 1 ano de namoro deles, fica nítido na cara de Korn que mesmo toda felicidade e amor de Intouch trazia para ele, ainda sim faltava algo, ainda se existia um vazio. Afinal isso é a depressão, não importa o quanto os outros te amem, só você pode se salvar, claro que a ajuda é importante mas se você não lutar é impossível que alguém ti tire dessa. E é no momento que os pais deles chegam que ele tem a certeza que eles nunca ficaram juntos ( ele já tinha percebido antes, quando ele começa hesitar assim que chega no dormitório deles ), e naquele instante nada mais importa, o medo, o desespero, a tristeza, tudo vem atona de uma forma tão rápida que ele nem imaginou como seria a vida de Intouch se ele partisse de forma tão dramatica. Egoismo ? talvez, porém a dor dele foi tão grande, devido a todo sua historia de vida que ele não conseguiu nem colcoar seus pensamentos e ordem, somente viu a oportunidade e fez.
Desculpem, eu poderia ficar horas escrevendo sobre UWMA e cada detalhe que essa série deixa, ela toca em tantos assuntos e nos faz refletir de várias formas, definitivamente para mim esta é a melhor série que já acompanhei, simplesmente emocionante.

Honestly, the more episodes that I watch of this, the more I can understand why Korn ends up doing what he does - in the sense that he's obviously been struggling with a lot his whole life and has never been truly happy. Intouch is the only sunshine in his life and when he has to watch him suffer, not be able to be with him and when they keep getting torn apart... he probably feels like nothing's ever going to change. In almost all of their scenes, he just seems deep in thought and without hope. BUUUUUT while saying that, I'm still EXTREMELY upset at him for abandoning Intouch in such a traumatic way. Like, did Korn just think he'll be happier without him? As if Intouch wanted to live without the love of his life? UGH SO SAD.
I initially didn't like korn because he never smiles. I felt like he never appreciates In ... he has such caring boyfriend. And why does In go after him?
But now I realize that he is just a kid with so much to think off. He doesn't want to go into the crime world but his dad is forcing him. He loves his same gender. The only person who is his sunshine and his starlight light at night ... Giving him direction ... he is in danger because of him.
Korn is really brave that he keeps fighting even with everything against him.
I feel like he has been suicidal for really long time. And I think it is really brave of In to be so patient with him. I feel like he does realize that his partner is probably in depression. In tries to bring happiness to him. He never complains.
I want to protect both of them. ♥♥♥

That short episode of korn and in really gives me heartbreak. The way korn feeling torn apart in leaving In alone. Saddest relationship story i ever watched.. it's really depressing to think that one particular couple sufferred thru all the pain can impossibly endure by someone. Wish to have some episode again for kornin where they're free to express their love for each other without worrying at all. 😥
Agree. When they where in bed together. I thought that was a goodbye sex. And he was going to break up with him soon.
Plus: He's still almost a teen and he probably thinks In might suffer for a while but in the long run is better off without him and might fall in love again, keep his family and be happier (self-doubt like this is rather common). Also this was on an impulse. Like the situation got way over his head, he couldn't do anything, he saw In suffering "bc of him" (like he probably thought) and he just wanted it to end. He might already have thought about breaking up for In's sake, so this was his way to set In free and to escape his own heartbreak.

I kinda like but don't like Korn at the same time. You know, the same feels when your bestfriend/brother/sister have soulmate and really going well together but in deep in our heart, we are not click with her/him at all.
Korn might loved Intouch, but the other side also scared about future. He is a deep thinker, thats why I hate people who soo deep in thinking, and GONE WRONG because he keep all by himself. This is the BAD problematic of relationship, communication.
And interesting fact about their reincarnation is not only their family life that SWAP, but also their personalities. The first place it was Intouch who's so confidence about their love, but Korn so depressed. Now, Dean feels like soo confidence after he found Pharm and together as a couple, but Pharm looks so in pain and insecure about Intouch memories.
I dont know where this story will bring us. But I kinda worried about DeanPharm relationship. Like their past memories might be the ONLY reason they should broke their relationship. Its like bad KARMA for them, and maybe they are NOT DESTINED together in the first place. More deep we swim in the sea, more DARK we know the fact. And we might dont want to watch the FACT behind all this story 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 R.I.P my life for DeanPharm x KornIntouch

Everyone is so angry at Korn but he’s in such a difficult situation. He can’t be a bubbly as In, but everyone is translating that into him not being invested.
Truly, he is being crushed and trapped. In the book he is beaten so bad he can't move for weeks. If he tries to run away with In, his brothers will get pushed into the horrible family business. A more experienced actor might have chosen the moment Korn asks In " Aren't you tired?" to show us how weary to the core he is. He has already given up. The suicide is already in motion. It's just a question of when.

it's pretty clear that Korn has developed depression over the years of abuse and control, even before meeting In he seemed withdrawn and rejected contact from other students in school.
The post bed scene of Intouch and Korn is so underrated. The way Intouch looked at Korn with a smile when he left, but you know that he knows that there's no assurance of what thy have that moment. Being happy of what they currently have while fearing what could come next. I just had the biggest emo moment there. Hbu?

i love how dean is always reminding pharm that he isn't in. they were reincarnated, yes but they are pharm and dean now. it also shows that dean loves pharm for who he is, not because of his past memories of in.
Well although they have reincarnated. I feel they can't be considered the same people they were in their previous lives. When i read the novel I think that the author also kept reinforcing the fact that both of them are different from their past selves, they have totally different characters from before and even their way of thinking (thoughts) are totally different.... Of course they still do have some things similar.

I liked that we got to see a bit more of Dean's insecurities in this episode. Yes, Pharm is the one with the more traumatic memories and the one who suffers more, but Dean also has his own share of pain. Even if he tries to act confident to reassure Pharm, he's also scared of his dad's reaction to their relationship, since Korn also suffered a lot because of his own dad. For me, it's nice to see that Pharm isn't alone with In's pain and memories and that Dean also has Korn's and he's also affected by them.
Korn is actually a really complex character. He always seems in deep thought, distant and cold even when he is with Intouch, he is not the most affectionate and warm, but you can definitely see that he loves him. (Small smiles, petting his head, etc.) It's partly because of his introverted personality and partly his upbringing. He is surrounded by crime and his father is constantly abusing him verbally and physically. He also threatens him with hurting his brothers if he does something he doesn't agree with. It's pretty clear that he had developed a depression even before he met In. At least In was able to bring him happy memories, but sadly in the end Korn was not strong enough to handle everything and seeing In get hurt because of him. He was sure that their fathers would never accept them, and he didn't try to threaten the dads with killing himself if they don't let them be together (and not actually go through with it). Instead, he was determined and tired. He didn't think about what would happen after he was gone, he just wanted everything to stop, so he did it. It was not a solution. But for him, he couldn't see another way out any more. If you look closely, you can see the similarities and differences between Dean and Korn. They are both not the most affectionate, but obviously treat the one they love well. While Dean also didn't have the most ideal upbringing he was not surrounded by so much pressure and abuse, therefore he is not depressed but a little closed off.
Intouch and Pharm are both usually happy and easy to get along with, but Intouch is more sure and determined, direct with his actions, while Pharm is hesitant and unsure and acts slower. This is of course all the aftermath of Korn's suicide. We mostly see Pharm remembering the bad memories, while Dean/Korn who didn't witness Intouch's death mostly remembers the happy memories they had. Dean later feels very guilty after he realizes how much his actions in his past life has affected his lover. So much that after he is reborn, he lives with trauma. That is also the moment when he distances himself a little from Korn because he cannot forgive and maybe understand why he did it. He is sure that he would never do such a thing, but then again, he doesn't have the depression/surrounding Korn had. Even if they remember bits of their past or even everything, they are not exactly the same person they were in their past lives. So it would explain why Dean doesn't relate 100% to all of Korn's actions and why their personalities are not exactly the same. Pharm is more invested in Intouch and the past. But hopefully soon when everything will be solved and explained they can let Korn and Intouch go, and be themselves and live their lives in the present without dwelling in the past any more.

Having just recently discovered this series, I understand why Korn ends up doing and you can see that during this whole first scene. He knows that it's all about to end.
Can we appreciate how well of a job the actors of Korn and Dean did. Like they don't speak much but their eyes portray the emotions they want to show the audience.

Imagine having to live, always having nightmares about your past life, knowing you can't change anything. You always remember the incidences that occured, especially the bad ones. But then, you have this certain person always by your side, who will never leave you and will be there for you whenever you need them. Dean & Pharm's relationship is on another level. Things were so different for gay couples back then, especially, if your parents don't support you and are trying to make your lives miserable at every turn when they find out. The reason why both my babies look so sad and hurt in this scene is because all they want is to be able to sleep in each other's arms, like Dean and Pharm, all night long without having to worry about the repercussions the next day if they do.

You are right I felt Ins pain and feeling abandoned, it was sad. I have always felt sad for In because he seems to have more invested in the relationship than Korn. I hate how Korn is always reading a book, his lack of indepth interest in the whole relationship unlike Dean with Pharm.
He's actually happy but just feels doubt like he has loved in for so long but he feels regrets that he'd let in get all dangerous parts to it

I think of it as Korn struggling. He has a set of expectations set by his father and duties that should be filled by being a good boyfriend. During his past life, he couldn't figure out how to both protect In AND keep him happy at the same time. Also the world was a different place back then. Pharm and Dean are in a world much more accepting of their relationship, so I kind of understand where Korn is coming from. The only problem that I have is that he is so caught up in his own struggle between keeping In happy and protecting him, that he doesn't realize that he is actually causing pain and rifts in their relationship.
Sorry, I guess I have a lot of opinions on this!🙂

Even in rewatching I can't help marvel at what a good actor Ohm is. Dean has to carry the burden of knowing the truth of what happened to In as Pharm doesn't want to know and the fear of Pharm finding out through his dreams is so perfectly shown on Ohm's face.
Dean; In his love for Pharm, I saw him as a loyal, honest, compassionate, confident and magnificent character who always knows what he wants.
As the reassurance that you can handle anything and always leave what you want to be with, whatever you want to be with the person you love.
Without knowing what his father's decision would be, I saw the person he loved as a brave lover who promised Pharm would never and never leave.
