      Probably a Haltech, it's a very common ECU for these cars, especially the BPU+++ ones. It could be on stock ECU too with a resistor on one of the map wires to make it think it's hitting factory boost while it's actually going a lot higher. Also valve springs really become a problem at high RPM, many people over rev these motors stock with relative safety.

      @@realstreetperformance Thanks for the reply and that's a very interesting answer. Would there be any difference on the reliability between high quality pump fuel vs E85 given that the engine is safe from knock on both fuels? • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@bokfink1 best pointer I can give is to tune the engine conservatively on good fuel at a power level that will make you happy and make your peace with the fact that it is going to die when it has had enough. That lifetime length will depend on how right you are doing it; how hard and how often you are leaning on it, etc

      because one simply doesnt buy a supra to keep it stock at 300hp. Its tradition and a right of passage to slap a big boi turbo on and jack up power to 600-700 hp 😎😎😎

    • @ACommenterOnYouTube
      @ACommenterOnYouTube 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It does hurt the value of it but i dont think the owner cares. I got my 98 Supra last year and it only had 30k miles on it and it was 100% OEM STOCK ... shocking yea but i did find it.
      I told myself, i didn't pay $xx,xxx.xx to drive around in a stock supra. It was stock for 2 months before i did the basic bolt ons, BUT i still have all the oem parts, screws, bolts, nuts, etc in my shed. Every piece that was removed, i still have.
      But i have ZERO plans to sell it.
      The other issue with modifying it, when you modify it, its to your taste and not everyone likes your taste so when it comes time to sell, its going to be harder. Leaving it oem stock has a much higher chance of being sold.

    • @realstreetperformance
      @realstreetperformance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      well the engine will only make that much power when you go wide open throttle. If you drive around at part throttle it drives around like a normal stock car power level. Or are you saying you want to be able to floor it and have it only make 500hp on setting 1 or something like that? I think after a week or two, you would just leave it on the highest setting

      @@realstreetperformance The latter, but then again, I am coming from a 400 horsepower V8 car and I like to learn how the car behaves before I start unleashing the full potential (sort of like a black/red key in the SRT Hellcat variants) or the Noble M600 3 mode dial switch. My other thought was gas mileage. In any case very nice car/setup.
