Love following your channel as the filming is so good to watch , it's like I am actually there . My interest with trains was rekindled when I retired with starting a model railway but TH-cam has also done the same for watching real trains . Just need to convince the wife then I could watch on the TV LOL 🤣 . Thank you for sharing your railway visits .........Peter
Great video Les. The West Coast Railways move to Fort William is very confusing. I've been reading that they cannot operate The Jacobite steam trains due to the Mk1 coaches not having central door locks fitted.
Well I heard it was to allow them to do driver refresh on the line - but if so why take the carriages? The fact that the train was planned when Locomotive Services announced 'suddenly' that they were taking stock up there and running two public trains (£40 return!!!) on 8th and 9th seems significant.
Hi Leslie, Ken Browne here. I've been following your vids and I'm subscribed to your channel. I really enjoy your vids particularly at Carlisle as i used to come down from Ayrshire to take lots of vids but atm I'm a bit limited in mobility due to muscle weakness on both knees. I like how you title your clips as i used to do the same. The train codes, timings, destinations, origins etc are very important and im surprised how many video takers don't use titles - vids are incomplete without correct titles and relevannt info. Keep up the good work Leslie, i really appreciate your work. I hope i can get get back down to Carlisle soon if my exercises and physio appts are successful!! Best wishes. Ken
Thanks I really appreciate that. I was always frustrated by watching videos and some not even giving the date. Now Real Time Trains gives almost all the info its easy to source it.
Another great video, Les. I wonder if now they have run a 195 right up to Carlisle, they will consider using them and replacing the noisy and uncomfortable 156's so we can get from Millom to Carlisle in a bit of comfort?? :-) Sir Nigel looks like it is doing 100mph even when stood still, great to see it!
I note the Shildon 1979 built bogus bolster conversion. First time that I have noticed the individual container bodie flats on the Tesco liner tain. Is this to provide more flexibility when making up the consist. Great video, yet again, thank you.
The 195s would otherwise be stuck at Barrow unable to get to Carnforth until 22nd April when the line reopens. A bit like when Northern sent 156s from Workington to Heaton via Barrow, Preston and Carlisle the other week.
Oh I did - it looks like SNG is working through a fish tank - rain covered my lens! Not up to standard so it was abandoned! You got a great shot in comparison!
Hope you are keeping well Les great footage as ever take care 👍
Thanks 👍

Wonderful "surprise" with the Sir Nigel Gresley... beautiful locomotive, and the great assortment of trains! Thanks and cheers!
Many thanks! It was one of those days when the train gods gave us variety!
Nice one Leslie, some interesting variety there. Cheers, Jeff.
Glad you enjoyed it. Saw your record of SNG at Newcastle Central.
Great mix of old and new Les!

A perfect finish with the logs.
Thanks Andy!

Thanks! It has crossed my mind but somehow I doubt it until they have to scrap the 156s.
Looks like fun 👍🏻
Certainly was!

I'm not so sure on the container flats DRS are using but they do seem best suited to the domestic containers etc. Thanks and glad you enjoyed it
I suppose they have to go the long way round to get from Barrow to Peeston for now
They do indeed
@@LeslieGilpinRailways That should be Preston, not Peeston 🤦♂️
LSL are to run trains up to Fort William this year since West Coast didn't get the licence
I'm aware of the two this week to Mallaig but not yet more.
Great variety of traffic. But it happened on 5 Apr 24, not 34
At least I could correct that ! Glad you enjoyed
1:38 you misspelt royal mail
Seeing who would notice!
@@LeslieGilpinRailways i noticed!
will class 195's start doing routes to carlisle?

@@LeslieGilpinRailways so is that a yes?
3:45 I didn’t know Carlisle had a lawn
It should add to the garden atmosphere when the buddleia etc bloom!
Did you not get a video from London Rd Jn of SNG?
Oh I did - it looks like SNG is working through a fish tank - rain covered my lens! Not up to standard so it was abandoned! You got a great shot in comparison!
@@LeslieGilpinRailways Thanks, that is a shame but at least you got the shot at Upperby
