I am more disturbed with the fact that they let him publish a memoir and made a movie based on his memoir as if he did something great in his life. Imagine being brutally murdered and years later they make a movie about your killer and his struggle being on the run. Like that is beyond disgusting! RIP to that sweet innocent teacher 🕊

It's become a part of sentencing in the US now where murderers themselves are not allowed to publish their story in any way that makes a profit. But that doesnt stop other people from making money off of the story. Like these TH-cam videos we're all watching is making someone money over the story.

there's nothing wrong with a murderer writing a book about their actions, it is because of people like him that decide to spread awareness over cases like this. He was the most wanted person in japan, obviously people would want to know why, many would prefer the predator themselves to tell it from their point of view. So he should not be looked down on because he made a book about his journey, you should only be looking down on him for what he did to the woman; not the book. Writing a book about your doings doesn't mean you're looking for people to look up at you.

The US has significantly more violent crimes, and you can't really compare both countries because of how the disparity between the two countries. The crime rate in Japan is incredibly low compared to the US. However, there is a cultural issue in Japan where sexual assaults and other crimes in that category often go unpunished or unreported. Japan doesn't really have a crime issue besides the weird fact that there's a lot of elderly people committing them imo. Of course always be careful everywhere, but when you're in Japan you can relax that you don't have to worry about a random dude deciding to shoot you.

-I watch a lot of true crimes stories/docs NOT bcs i love the ppl who does the act. I'm horrified yet fascinated with the story behind it, what drives these ppl to do those things, what kind of life were they living, etc... so no, i'm not a fan of these killers.
    - Killers i meant here is ppl who kills for pleasure, fun, curiosity, or any other morbid fascination towards killing.
    - gotta add, ppl who "kill" intentionally or unintentionally STRICTLY for safety/survival, imo will still be a killer... but it makes a bit more sense for them to have fans i guess... (not inclucing cannibals who kills living human beings to survive) wdyt?

@@xuanmai7133 What, so your answer to people getting r*ped and murdered by a stranger is to tell them that it's their fault for having friends in the first place? So, because she was r*ped and murdered, you retrospectively condemn her for having any relationships at all? Since you think it's so right for someone else, I hope you haven't made any friends before, etc, because you're trusting strangers. That's disgusting, I bet you're the type who thinks victims ask for it too. To be clear, it's pretty apparent you just don't understand, but it's pretty clear the only logic that can be extracted from your broken English is that it's her fault for having any relations with any beings at all.

I feel like this term can be applied to anyone who just wanna be alone in life regardless of the reasons coz it has been a few years since the traumatic events in my life and I don't feel like doing anything and don't like to go out be it my room or anywhere, don't wanna talk to anybody don't care about the generic stuff others do, sleep all day and be up in the darkness all night co its peaceful, etc I just feel like nothing matters anymore and doing anything out of my usual monotonous routine is tiresome and meaningless, Basically depressed with life.

I had a case of a man who did his own, un needed surgeries. He had successfully removed his own testicals with a kitchen knife, sewing scissors, a spoon fishing line and an upholstery needle. What he used for pain killer I do not know. When he then did his own appendectomy,; the surgery was successful, but he could not keep conscious from the medication he used as a pain killer so he could not get himself sewn back up. He had to call an ambulance. the ER report said there were several healed badly put together scars all over his torso. Clearly from other surgeries. Needless to say, we did not insure him.

I don't disagree with the sentiment at all, but admittedly I often find it difficult to blame anyone except the parents in actual child murder cases. I know that's not what this is, but we see it a lot on TH-cam cuz it's sensational. It's just so exceedingly rare for a well adjusted kid to suddenly murder someone out of the blue. 9 times out of 10 there are either obvious warning signs that were ignored, or there was abuse or neglect.
I think I just feel like...if someone never had the agency or the resources to help themselves, how can we really blame them as though they had the same chances to choose a different path as an adult would have? They're just kids. They don't have any context for their impulses. It feels like such a waste most of the time. Some people are just born broken, of course, but that's not usually what's going on. Usually it's just a kid who can't handle their own emotions and has no one who cares, and who's responsibility is that supposed to be if not the parents? Shouldn't we be trying to save these kids?
      Anyway, tangent lol

A sweet, loving girl was brutally murdered and to celebrate her tragedy, the accused is treated with so much of love and respect. Where the hell is humanity and justice being served. A movie and his book making it to being the best seller, he fucking killed that innocent girl for no reason. How could you put such a hard core criminal up the pedestal? He literally is a psychopath who needs death punishment and no scope of reformation, coz such criminals don't ever change. I feel so bad and am in full of tears for her and her family, who had to go through this. The lawyers failed them and the country has too. Mistake No. 2: to agree to be his English tutor.

Mistake No. 4: to get in a taxi with him.
Mistake No. 4: To get out of the taxi with him (she should have stayed in the taxi and waited for him to go and get the money and bring it down to her).

The fact that he followed her to her house the first time around should have been a huge red flag. This poor girl was too trusting and didn't want to believe that people could be beyond evil.

Wouldn't you agree he could have had a significant impact (more than any other person that night) on the girl's life if the police was contacted when he got tired of waiting for the girl and was about to leave? She could've been still alive at that point.
He has no reason to stay but according to the story he did and left only because she wasn't coming back as she said she would. Wouldn't that strike you as odd? I would've at least called the police to make a welfare check - if she simply stayed the night with the guy, all right. If a crime happened or was about to happen - either you catch the culprit immediately or an unnecessary death is prevented.

However the lesson is to never let your guard down and your kind nature take over your instinct. The thing that gets me is that Lindsay did meet this guy, in a mutual place (café). Lindsay was trying to stay safe. Tatsuya was manipulative and calculating. Still is by the sounds of it. My thoughts are still only with Lindsay's family.

Always treat concerning behavior seriously, regardless of the situation. It's unusual for anyone, regardless of their background, to follow someone home, especially if they don't know the person. Taking appropriate precautions and responding vigilantly could have potentially averted such a tragic event. While what happened to this young woman wasn't anyone's fault but the perpetrator's, it underscores the importance of being cautious in the face of troubling behavior, regardless of a person's origins. 😢
