Gotta give kudos to Klinger's VA for the sheer dismissive apathy in the line "Oh, yes, that might have been the name." Really sells just how little he gives a fuck, and I love it.
Right?! I played that part in Japanese, so my wife and I were hearing it in English the first time here. My jaw dropped when he said that. Like _zero fucks_ in that delivery.
The souls of his people cheering for their Noble Lord. You can feel how proud they and Strohl's parents would be to know the Haliatus name is in his hands

this is an example a great voice director and great VA, I played persona 3,4,5 heck i played all SMT, i watch all kind of awakening from ATLUS, i`m already so familiar with their recipes. Yeah Yusuke and Ryuji had a much better sense of catharsis to their awakenings. Strohl's has style, but you don't get nearly the same emotional payoff. He says his village was burned down and then 20 seconds later he awakens.
I dont like any of the awakening scenes. Dont be a fanboy and come at me, Im liking the game, Id just like to complain to atlus so they understand that not all their games need to borrow from persona to be good. I think the transformations could have been handled better. The formula of having to rip out something and bleed and then somehow you transform just didnt feel satisfying to me in this setting. I also feel like they took P5's complaints about its prologue taking long seriously and thats something only normies complain about. I felt like the transformation here maybe could have felt better if I was given more time with the characters to feel relatable to them? I remember feeling pissed at kamoshida and truly enjoying that my characters awakened against him, maybe thats the point I disliked about this one. Which is shame because the rest of the story and combat Im loving, its just the awakening scenes that I dont like.
@@ye9945 oh I think its not necessarily the action of using their heart. I think Its that such an extreme action was taken even though we didn't get enough character development to merit it get me? I'm gonna compare it to p5 which they're obviously inspired by. In p5, you rip off a mask from your face and awaken because you're about to be killed by a teacher that has shown already across 2 hours of gamepkay ehat a scumbag he is, plus youre given a bit of the background problem the mc already had which was being framed for something. So you feel theres a reason for the people awakening to go through pain in order to awaken. In this one though, they seem to have rushed to reach that conclusion. I mean the mc awakened for his best friend but they haven given us much background to that friendship. With Strohl you've been given his background but you havent spent much time bonding with him at that point so it doesn't feels personal. I guess my main problem is that it feels rushed. And pulling out your heart and speaking on it like a mic is a pretty extreme action to take if you havent been emotionally invested into the characters. That's my complaint I guess.
@@blkwng i mean we literally have been with him since the prologue started. As soon as your carriage is attacked you go to the recruitment office and meet him. I just don’t see how you could say it was rushed
so Joker awakens because it was a life or death situation, but when the mc in Metaphor does the same thing is bad? Kamoshida being an asshole wasn't really set up yet and wasn't a factor. The mc from Metaphor awakened not only to save Strohl but to survive so he can carry on with his mission to save the prince and Strohl has been looking out for you from the very moment you met him. Strohl was built up to be a kind-hearted person who wants to be noble like his parents who gave their lifes to protect their people and when he confronts the one responsible for his people's death, the awakening doesn't feel earned? Then by that logic most of, if not all of P5 awakening are rushed and unearned.
It's... dumb, it really is, the game just drops all the epic fantasy and goes for so much cheese it kinda loses it's way and becomes stupid. Doesn't help that the expression work is lacking. Strohl and Hulken both seem like they barely care that they're awakening while their voice actors earn their paycheck with blood sweat and tears. And Strohl's scene is just... what? Why is he suddenly an announcer for a wrestling match? Where'd the audience come from? Are they supposed to be the spirits of his village? It just feels like something's missing. Thank god the fights are still a spectacle cause the awakenings are just not there... yet? Maybe they'll improve em, once can hope...
Iiii took it more like Strohl's a Rockstar at a Concert announcing some Grade A Rebel Fire. Shit's peak though tbh- I get the facial animations need some work- they're very very still, but it doesn't seem like cheese to me. Can't be afraid to break a rule or two of things being 'epic fantasy' to have a good time. And as for the audience suddenly appearing- I think that's supposed to be a lot more (no pun intended) metaphorical. 'Cause he isn't just speaking to his heart, he's screaming out his will to the deceased sacrificed by Klinger. Doesn't mean they're literally ghosts that appeared- it's just something to represent Strohl's ideal of nobility.
