I did a quick look at the schematic of Bismark's "turtleback" armor and was surprised to find out how similar it is to tank sloped armor. What really surprised me is that the Kriegsmarine realized the benefits of the design in 1936 when her keel was laid and yet the Wehrmacht was surprised by the T-34's armor design, five years later. Service rivalry I suppose.

Martin Mörsch.A buddy of mine on WoT for Xbox blocks 20k damage in his Vk. 45.02 B before they nerfed the lower plate.
But that was rigged, same clan on both teams.
And there's one or two T-95 games out there with over 30k dmg blocked.
I always dread these, because I'm sure I'll see myself at full potato ahead/all hands on derp.
About 3.5 years ago I estimated the amount of premium shells fired by tier 8 premium tanks using the data from vbaddict (shots fired, ammo cost and so on).
The 112 and IS-6 were spamming the most premium shots with 81% and 79%, the least was fired by the FCM 50t and Jagdtiger 8,8 with 28% and 24%.
But keep in mind, the amount of premium ammo fired has increased since then, the average player skill decreased and WG introduced dozens of tier 8 premium tanks (there wasn't even the T-54 first prototype around).
So we're gonna say a strong 50% in 2014-2015, which is more or less the moment gold ammo became a problem.
So now it will be, idk... 66% ? It wouldn't be surprising, I think I take around 50% gold ammo shots with my light tanks, so by adding the 80% of the remaining half who shoots gold ammo only at armored tanks (and considering 10% of the player base never shooting gold ammo, which is possible).
I compared current data for the "old" premium tanks with my old data. Surprisingly the amount of premium shells fired from the 112 and IS-6 seems to have decreased a bit but it's possible that people use more HE shells nowadays against targets with thicker armor and HE shells are cheap so that might compensate the cost for premium shells a bit.
The Jagdtiger 8,8 however showed a dramatic increase of premium shells from 24% to 87%.
I also checked the Super Conqueror, IS-7, M48 Patton and Object 140 as examples for tier 10 and the premium ammo usage is 58%, 72%, 35% and 40%.
The conclusion is that especially drivers of tier 8 premium vehicles tend to spam premium ammo. And drivers of medium tanks apparently don't camp at the back and therefore need less premium ammo.
On the other hand, even 35% means more than every 3rd shell fired is a premium shell and that's a bit more than the 5% premium ammo used WG tries to tell us for years now.
I carry 25/15/5 in my 112, but when I encounter enemy heavies that dont have weakspots
The invincible armor, gold ammo, and unbalanced tanks are why I don't play WoT anymore...
It is too easy to get into a situation where you're playing a tank that just is ineffective. Sure, you can avoid the majority of tanks, but what kind of game design is that?
I drive a Chrysler GF and fire 95% gold, rest is HE. I hide my lower plate and even T-X tanks shoot gold at me. WG wins.
that ain't quite a record the maus got jingles, you got a KV-4 vid from 2014 that blocked 23,000 dmg, but still not bad

There are also two replays I watched recently here on YT - I can't remember which channel - involving two Type 5 Heavies in two different battles bouncing about 20k dmg each. This Maus was impressive yes but far from a record.
I believe what happened with the Amagi is that the captain messed up his approach angle. Ideally, when coming to meet a destroyer, you want to come wide and fan in towards the corner. However, the Amagi turned in too early and would've beached himself. With the angle his guns were at, the Amagi would've been a sitting duck for SadPanda to poke out round the corner and dump all his torps in. So, the Amagi decided it was safer to turn back out, possibly hoping to bring guns on SadPanda and at least exchange his ship for a higher tier destroyer.

Me rushing that Amagi would have been the worst thing I could have done, since its very likely he would have just blapped me with AP. If he had beached I he would have lived, more than likely. Him turning into me was the worst thing to do.
That is true, but hindsight is 20/20. In the moment, he was probably more afraid of what would happen if he suddenly lost all ability to evade.
I would never have pursued him if he started reversing since me killing him with torps was only going to happen if he have my his broadside. He was in no danger if he beached and reversed

My buddy was in the FV and I was in the JgTiger. We were talking about that Maus for a while after. Pretty crazy lol
That scout player really helped us secure that cap. I got a shot off to reset their timer while they were distracted by them. It was a fun game.

(Quickybabys post) I gotta say, I don't play much (I'm away for months at a time so I perpetually suck!) but I really enjoy your vids. HE does not ricochet. The arty HE rounds are not doing damage because the maus player has mounted a spall liner.
I've seen HE ricochet. I know it's not supposed to but I've seen it happen.

No, HE does ricochet, it just doesn't "officially" ricochet
it does happen but artys gun has to be fairly low caliber (in arty terms) i had actually bounced he shell with french artys myself but its also easy to confuse that with the armor simply absorbing the impact of the he shell completely resulting in no dmg as well. althou the maus did get stunned so i guess that was armor absorbing the shots and not bouncing since the few times i bounced of arty he shells it did not cause a stun nor have i received one either

That Alabama replay shows the reason I will often brawl Kurfursts in Montana. All you have to do is bait them into shooting your angled belt while you approach, which they are never going to pen, and then you just pump those huge non-cit damage salvos into them at close range where their guns can't track you as fast, using your damage control when the situation demands it.
Love the fact that you actually shown a player playing a scout tank as a scout! Something you just don’t see anymore at least on the NA server! He move forward, found a bush, and just sat there spotting away! Proper passive scouting!! He wasn’t sitting at the back playin as a TD! He wasn’t trying to play as a medium! Even worse, trying to play as a heavy! Just glad he knows his tanks and played the role of the tank he picked! He cared more about winning as a team!

Better to have an active scout who knows to stay alive than another camper
I never said anything about active scouting! I have an issue with players picking scout tanks and NOT scouting with them! They play like a medium! Sit at the back and snipe like a TD! Rush forward where heavies go and try to play as a heavy! When you pick a scout tank, you’re telling matchmaker that you want to play that role for YOUR TEAM! This is a team based game! I don’t care about your invisible stats called WN8! This game was great, fun as hell when I started playing it back in 2012! Now it’s just 15 individuals vs 15 individuals worrying about their WN8 score! Their “no cap, kill all” mentality has lost more games than it wins! NA used to have 2 servers with lots of players on both. No need to run a special event every weekend to get people to play. Now it’s down to one and player base is still shrinking.

To be fair to the Yueyang about launching the torps, he could have been doing that to make the Z52 panic at seeing them and leave the smoke. Since it is a relatively new line it possible not everyone knows that pan Asian T10 DD only has deep water torpedoes.

It was much more likely the Yueyang was either dropping his torps to try and hit the guys behind the Z-52 and because he needed to get out of there, or he was just trying to scare the Z-52, or a combo of all of those. Sure he still did bad, but it's not like it's an obvious point and laugh of "Haha he launched deepwater torps at a DD" because it just wasn't a situation where it was immediate life or death

I know some unicums who will drop Deep Water Torpedoes into smokescreens, not because they expect to hit anything, but because the anticipation of getting hit by torps can override logic in the opposing DD player and may force them to panic and run out of their smoke in an instinctive attempt to "dodge".
Ok at 24:04, the Yamato's third gun wasn't even aiming at the USS Missouri, because it wasn't done turning its way to her, but yet it still fired and hit it? World of Warships, get your shit straight!
I've heard it's a replay bug that doesn't take into account if a player has taken Expert Marksman, so the turrets turn at their stock speeds instead of the faster speed from the skill.
Replay bug. Happens all the time on Flamu's videos.
Commander Ryion yamoto cares not of turn rotation she just fires the shells and they curve to the target mid-air
I have the sneaking suspicion that the M53/55 player may have been running the 155mm gun with an unequipped vehicle and/or non-100% crew. I saw a few 12/13 second stuns upon hitting the Maus, and it is very easy for an upper glacis plate or upper frontal turret hits to end up dealing zero damage on the Maus as the 700 alpha on the 155 will be reduced to a 350 average for non-pen, with the upper glacis plate with Spall Liner granting the Maus 330 damage reduction vs HE. The Turret front is much thicker, and the curved shape could protect the hull roof from splash if it hits high up enough on it.
To be fair even jingles managed to drive at the wrong cap circle to reset it so this guy in the 13 90 pulled off a jingles cap reset

He really wasnt let down by his gun. On the is3 he aimed at the space, and angled armour belt. With the t69 he flicked his mouse and didnt actually aim.
Actually Jingles, the Iowa is "bigger" than the Yamato insofar as it's longer (887 feet to 863). But it's about 20,000 tons lighter, each fully loaded

Oh, how I love German battleship drivers who think “turtleback armour” means “I’M INVINCIBLE!”. It is so intensely satisfying to smack 30k HP off a German BB’s broadside at point-blank range with an Iowa’s guns.
I said 68k for the maus.. I may have over guessed a little. I've seen a t95 block 35k but that was when HE used to count when it bounced, as blocked damage. Malinovka charging across field. It was one of QBs videos.

Actually Jingles, that Friedrich @22:00 rushing that Yamato wouldn't have been a bad idea.
Why you may ask? Well, the Friedrich got turtleback armour and at a range below 4km like that, it's as good as impossible for the Yamato to score a citadel on him. He would at most catch ~24k damage if all six shells from the Yamato's frontal guns resulted in normal penetrations and the Friedrich has plenty HP to spare, plus at that short range there's no way the Yamato's turrets could keep up with a rushing ship, so really he'd only have to tank one volley at most.
The Yamato on the other hand has an incredibly vulnerably citadel one anyone gets to her broadside. That Friedrich rushing the Yamato and holding his fire until he got a niceshot at its flat exposed side would've almost guaranteed a kill for the Friedrich.
The ONLY good reason that Friedrich had for not rushing that Yamato is because he probably didn't know where that destroyer from the Yamato's team was and if he'd catch half a dozen torpedoes coming around that island after slaughtering the Yamato.
I wonder if the Chinese Tier X destroyer was just flushing the torps to hit the cruisers way behind the Z-52. The torps do have a 10 km range

Bingo. Although I have to admit playing the tier 8 Chinese DD that occasionally I do fire off torps at other DDs simply by force of habit. If you aren't playing them all the time it is hard to get that dynamic down. Personally I found it funnier that the German tier 10 was firing AP at another DD. Yeah I know some of them do well with AP, but two factors. HE knocks out modules. HE does damage that is less repairable if the target has heals. Not sure if the Chinese tier 10 HAS heals but still.
PCWarMachine German AP is really good against DDs and usually doesn't overpen. The Pan-Asian DDs also don't have a heal

I suspect someone else may have already said so, but there's a fair chance the DD fired torps into the smoke to spook the other DD. I have seen DDs run from or try to dodge deep water torps.

Poor Amx. I sympathize with him because I made the same mistake once. In a Type 64 I got 6 kills and there were 2 one-shot tanks left on the other side. Like him I waited to kill them at the last moment, on the wrong cap circle :-)
A long time ago, in a place far, far away my clan friend during a battle on El Halluf (when there was that famous ridge) blocked in Maus over 30k damage.

I had a game (Sadly no replay, they weren't on) where two destroyers sailed around corners in front of my Montana and got blapped in the side with 16" HE so fast that they didn't get a single torpedo off.
