I recently saw Undertale Kindred Spirits (a purple/blue soul adventure) and it actually lets you visit some of that implied Ruins town, I loved it. (I also enjoyed the extra bit of New Home that UTY lets you visit, as small as it is)

These backdrops probably are just as much of a droplet in the huge expanse of the underground as the path we take.

It makes it even funnier, when you think about the fact, that the entire Underground is meant to be below a single mountain.
Yea, no, that doesn't sound right to me. Judging by those panorama backgrounds, we could easily assume the entire Underground might be the size of a small country.
That also makes it fully believable that the new areas from Undertale Yellow could've been an actual part of the Underground considering how massive it already seems to be.

Low key I was kinda pissed that there were these massive sections of the underground that we could see but never got the opportunity to explore. One thing Deltarune definitely does better is making each Dark World feel like an adventure, even if each individual map is smaller than UT (e.g., Card Kingdom)

Due to the monsters let's like take 10 mins away if I calculate it right frisk almost walked 5 KM in a straight line
just only in a straight line
That means the underground IS way bigger than we imagine

The sad part of this is that despite how large the underground is, overpopulation is a huge crisis
That giant city we see in New Home is overpopulated, a lot of people in Snowdin talk about people potentially coming from the capital

1) the genocide route is not actually a genocide route, it would be more accurately described as the massacre route.

I hoenslty feel sad we never got to explore these areas and they are reduced to nothing but backdrops. The underground on my playthrough felt mostly Inhabitable with the exception of Snowdin town.
(the ideas I'm referring to are basically following up more on the seasonal inspiration of the area like adding falling leaves, hailing snow, some water drips. Just some details that would add more charm to the areas)
