Flawless octaves! ... Andante Mosso movement needs more romance ... though this is by far the best performance of Rimsky Korsakov's only piano concerto I have heard.
Superb performance by Alexander, the orchestra and conductor! Unfortunately the video is poor. This music needs to be recorded from many angles by a number of cameras not just by one stuck miles back in the audience. Please call in a skilled video crew who know what they're doing.
23.35 - 15.3.20
Fabulous playing as usual from this immensely talented pianist. But the video is terrible - just one camera photographing Alexander from the same position for the entire piece! You must use at least three or four and plenty of close-ups. Please do better.
I guess that, after his recent experiences of competition, his maturity of outlook and unwavering certainty as to his calling in life, will enable him to get such things into perspective. They give him a worldwide audience and so he is able to fulfil his hearts desire to bring us to share his joy in his music-making. And, believe me, Alexander, you are achieving your hearts desire!!
Concert halls are usually acoustic pitfalls. But this one is a downright nightmare and an insult to to Malofayeev’s genius as well as the the orchestra.
Interesting piano concerto, very Russian and there's obvious influence of Franz Liszt in it, to whom he dedicated it. Somehow I find it more interesting than Liszt's piano concertos (I'm not crazy about Liszt's piano concertos). It's very virtuosic but very digestible. No doubt you have total control of the keyboard (you play the octaves very well). I find your interpretation a little violent, tough. Your Forti sound like Prokofiev's at times, and the melodies sound a little metronomic. If you focused on the lyrical aspect, a little more (make the piano sing more), and controlled the forti (less aggressive), it'll sound even more interesting. Just a few details... Valery Gergiev is a brilliant conductor. Bravi!!

Alexander's house must be permanently overflowing with flowers.
No, just with music.
As it should be!
Deduction a subtle mind discipline detect minutest details thus Rimsky Korsakov classic music repertoire, Ballet Ruses and Ballet Bolshoi, Sergei Diagliev theaterocal producer of lavish costume productions. Incredible piano agility, ambi dexterous, acumen a quintessential piano prodigy raise a glass a toast to Alexander.
The Salzburg Festival is waiting for You, maybe next year....? I would get me a ticket in the first row, believe me...!
Imparável!!!
What impresses me is that my thoughts always turn with inevitability to god when he plays and yet I’m sure nothing of the sort is intended
Un ristoro dell'anima
Handsome
He sure made it sing!
Introspection, Ingenuity, Imagination commensurate with graceful poise, piano technique classical music repertoire. Sergei Rachmaninoff symphonies celebration and commemoration akin to a life affirming spiritual peak experience.
You remind me of Alexis Weissenberg. Technique to burn and a bright tone that is hard as nails.
In awe.
Dreamy.
This young man plays with maturity beyond his years. I agree poor sound recording and poor photography....doesn’t do you justice.
Alexander Malofeev / Tugan Sokhiev when ?

👏👏👏🎹❤️
So beautiful!!
LOL..two words edited! 😂
Fantastic
nice
Fabulous playing as usual from this immensely talented pianist. But the video is terrible - just one camera photographing Alexander from the same position for the entire piece! You must use at least three or four and plenty of close-ups. Please do better.
This is obviously done by an amateur maybe an audience member. We should be grateful that someone put an effort to record it for us
How is he feeling after being unceremoniously 'dumped' in the Tch 16 competition?
I guess that, after his recent experiences of competition, his maturity of outlook and unwavering certainty as to his calling in life, will enable him to get such things into perspective. They give him a worldwide audience and so he is able to fulfil his hearts desire to bring us to share his joy in his music-making. And, believe me, Alexander, you are achieving your hearts desire!!
Concert halls are usually acoustic pitfalls. But this one is a downright nightmare and an insult to to Malofayeev’s genius as well as the the orchestra.
All they need is properly positioned microphones and - as this is a video - properly positioned cameras.
Bravi!!
Hahaa...always the "experts" have to show there "expertise"...buuu to that!
