Good catch on that retro livery at Echo 8! UA must have quite the business to MSY for it to fly a -900 both ways! Really cool to see the pilot making turns coming in from the west and just barely able to see MSY in the distance, lining up for the runway--lots of water everywhere--the Gulf in the distance, the Mississippi doing its winding thing and Lake Pontchatrain to the north. What plans does the city have for the former concourses across from the new facility? I'm so used to the SWA way of doing business, the FA announcing "If you're continuing on to ......" and waiting for that with your UA arrival but nothing! I'm guessing UA flies to EWR, IAH or ORD from MSY. With all your flying on SWA, AA and UA, do you belong to their FF programs?
Yeah, that was a nice surprise catch! And yep, the approach from the east along the Mississippi offers quite some nice views of the area and the airfield! As far as the old terminal, not sure what its fate is. I believe some offices are still over there as of now. And tbh, I’ve only got RR with WN. I fly them the most often. Believe it or not, but this was my first time flying United in five years…
