It doesn't get better than this folks. The rest of the world doesn't know what it's missing. Great video Mike. This video should have 1 million views but because of people's ignorance and prejudice, it does not. It's your loss!

Great video, Mike. Portugal's cuisine could be simple or fancy. You eat what you prefer.

Portuguese read the “J” as a j like everybody else. Alentejo is read as it is and not the spanish way Alenteho. There is nothing worst than foreigners saying the name of Portuguese regions and names as spanish! It just horrifies me!

Regarding cod, you didn't mention Newfoundland, Canada, where the Portuguese fished most of their cod. Get your facts straight!

don´t be tricked here, the only thing on the entire show that is actual authentic Portuguese couisine is the part at the end with the restaurant where they cook the cuttlefish, everything before that is just crap, fancy chef hipster bullshit, it's made to get michelin stars, but has almost no similarity to actual Portuguese food.

It is pretty much cooked like french food of twenty years ago.

Don't go to them fancy restaurants, Portugal is know for simple but tasty food, plus it's way cheaper. Something you will see in Portugal is parents or grandparents bringing kid to restaurant or to the café (pub). It is children friendly atmosphere.

So, where is the Portuguese food ? I didn't see any , and by that i mean proper Portuguese food. If i wanted to see , art i would go to a museum !

Those plates are less than child portions,it's more like appetizers.

I don’t care how fancy you try to sell it there’s certain technics methods and ingredients that this modern cuisine can’t replicate in the Portuguese Traditional gastronomy! Your kitchen is missing the lareira, the cast iron pots, the wood fire pit, the granite/terracotta wood fire oven not to talk about the local home farm raised farm grown ingredients and time and patience! We don’t eat Marlin in Portugal that’s a “modernice”!

I don't see any real Portuguese food....just art on a plate.... that's not how you indulge in a country. People seemed great a usual though.

haha my fathers were in South Africa for a lot of time but we are Portuguese and we are in Portugal... and one thing that they say to me is that the Inglesh have the costume of not taking their kids to the restaraunts becose they make noise and people get imbaressed... here in portugal no one gives a shit about that!!! =DDDD

I can't stand "nouvelle cuisine" ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nouvelle_cuisine ). It's all about taste and presentation, and not about cultural authenticity and substance -- you may still feel hungry after finishing eight courses. This type of cuisine looks pretty much the same around the world.
I would prefer to see authentic, traditional Portuguese dishes in this video, such as caldo verde, sardinhas grilhadas, frango assado, etc. See en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portuguese_cuisine .

riotagus said it all. No where to be seen, the real Portuguese food!. Mike needs to be food educated in Portugal before his next flix. The City of Porto is a good place to start. Rufino can give you some good points. Just ask him.
