I got curious and looked up my local gun range in my town of about a thousand people and their website opened with "Are you stressed out at school? Are you eight years or older? Are you looking for a new hobby with your peers?" and I was about to lose all hope for humanity when I then read that they don't actually shoot real guns that can kill people until they are 18 and allowed a pistol, certainly not an AR. I do, btw, own a business, I just don't think sponsoring this podcast would sell my Christmas trees to anyone in my local area, specifically in June. You made me do a complete 180 on the alien thing though because at first I was like "How could you believe that worlds beyond ours would be inconsequential to our understanding of life?" and by the end it became more of a "I guess I don't care if they don't personally employ me". I also think "alien teenagers who blow their cover by stealing their parents' ship and crashing it on Earth recklessly" is my favourite alien movie trope of all time, but that might just be conditioning from watching Alien Surfgirls as a child.
lol the time you guys were talking about the COD cutscene and interactive part it reminded me of Spec Ops: The Line which is another videogame that has a scene like that yet taken to the next level, he goes a lil crazy and you kill your own teammates and at one point civilians
the columbine shooting was from a dude who played doom, and wanted more from it. so he made a map with real gun sounds of his school and different aliens. his diary is online to read. and you can still play that map to this day. it's creepy and gives off the most unsettling feeling. he turned it to reality by actually killing people in his school. everything is to map like the library was a perfect replica at the time. the dude was super smart because most of what he did is impossible in Doom and people still do not know how he did it.
