Sounds pretty killer. You need to go on the JHS show, I feel like your sense of humor and JHS's humor would mesh pretty well, and maybe you could teach Josh how to play metal.
Need to get them crab walking over there 🦀 💪🤘
@@behavioralsink7747😂 they shoulda put a 🦀 on the pedal lol
He could use the help. Lol, j/k Josh, please still sell me the pedal.
You made it sound great. Didn’t like it on the JHS show.
I agree a lot.
Loved hearing the Leeway riffs! R.I.P. Eddie 🥀
Kyle, thank you for consistently brightening my day w/your goofy-ass humor. A lot of us could really use more laughs, these days. You've got a real talent for this TH-cam thing, and a seriously well-honed, discerning ear.
you're the first person to make this sound good. i've been waiting for someone to send an overdrive into it. certainly helps with the screechy top end. their own video left a lot to be desired. should have just paid you to do their demo
Agree. However the JHS guys ears are tuned to P&W and Indie rock/noise. Their demo did the pedal justice for those kinds of music. They never do heavy music any justice. Not their sound. They knew what they were doing when they sent it to Kyle.
Sounds good dude!! Love how I can just come to your channel and see an honest representation of how this sounds to just jam & chugg thru it. Lot of demos on here are full production re-amped and gives you little idea of how the damn thing will actually sound to jam thru. Anyways, thanks Kyle!!
I'd like to hear my Line 6 Metal Pedal through your setup.. and it may just not be a heavy pedal..
I like the Gain here for sure.
Played one today. It's a lot of hype
It's not for Acoustic Guitar lol
Sounds really good as a preamp could definitely work for a pedalboard amp rig
Hopefully JHS sees how important this video was for the pedal. Even after hearing JHS I knew these tones were in there somewhere.
Seeing how the boost pedal helped, I can’t help but wonder what could’ve been if one of the knobs had been swapped for a “push” ala pg14. Although tbh I’d probably want to shape that boost element myself anyway 😅
Earned a sub from me, keep it up man!
Sounds fantastic! Which interface are you using?
Nice work, KB...
11:05 I thought this was the best tone in the video lol
Sounds like a Revv Amp.........very nice!
A decent review, playing and demonstrating the pedal sound, instead of the usual nonsenses "it has a vol knob, a gain knob, two jacks and is built like a tank"
Having that much control over the midrange frequency is something more gain pedals should have.
My favorite ceramic is a X2N 🎉 hallelujah
that first minute is all i need to know. good video though
Im going to do the thing now... Hey man, can you look at the MetalZone mt2 vs Original? 😅 🎉
13:23 What Kyle should have said, “Let’s hear what…death…sounds…like.”
❤❤❤
You're eating Joss Allen's lunch with your wardrobe choice.
Basically what JHS has done is release a Keeley Filaments 🙄🤣
Whats the point of showing a pedal if youre just going to boost it with another pedal?
It's almost like........I showed it unboosted for most of the video......
It was demoed both with and without a boost. There are plenty of other demos unboosted, so I'm happy this one had plenty of boosted tones. That's how I'd use it.
He boosted it with an SD 1 people! They cost nothing. If that is what it takes to replicate this sound. Pull your heads out of your a$$e$.
Those shorts are not short enough.
your whole package on the doorstep mystery? its called a mailman he delivers packages genius. thats not even a funny joke
Bet you're fun at partys
Hey! There it is. A metal demo guy that’s ripping. I am here for it
I was so stoked when I saw your name on the review list!
Josh is an indie rock guy through and through, so I knew high gain distortion wasn’t going to sound right with his playing 🤣🤣
The dogs were inside the house when you pick up the box and then they're sitting on the lawn when you throw it. Now that's spooky!
No thanks. My Empress heavy menace will eat this things lunch, and dinner. Just sayin
I agree best pedal I have for metal/distortion
Try Megalith delta pedal 🔥
@@Projamusic I have it. It's a good pedal but I like the Heavy Menace more. Just sayin
Kyle cracks me up! Best sense of humor of all the gear dudes I watch regularly.
Can we have an award show?
Here is my nomineeeeee!
I watched several videos yesterday about it. I was waiting for yours.
$199. There's a lot of pedals for the same price.
Ill edit and say your video was the best i have seen about it. You explained it well and running it different ways was awesome
love it. the pedal is so sick haha
dude, it's definitely rad! your video proves this
It's not. Thing sounds shit for metal. C'mon guys
@@WholeLottaBulldog empty the turds out of your ears my man
@@belligerentamateur you never use distortion pedals, but because you were sent this, you're all about it.
@@WholeLottaBulldog who said I never use distortion pedals? Putting words in people's mouths is a poor way to win an argument.
Love the mid freq selection! Great amp like pedal that I could definitely use in my arsenal. Great job Kyle!
This sounds a lot.likw the Orange Bax Bangeetar pedal, which has been around for a while. The Bangeetar is big, has a dumb name and had almost no marketing behind it. It does has a baxandall stack and really amazing sound drive though. 8 years for this you say?
Anytime you can tweak the mid frequency (not just the amount of mids), you are in far better shape in the grand scheme of things.
I first watched the JHS video, it sounded alright.
I was initially impressed by Josh's metal mastery; and then I watched Fluff's video.
It started to grow on me and sounded even better. But, I knew that wasn't metal enough...
Until a fuckin' professional made this video.
IT SOUNDS SO GNARLY THAT EVEN SATAN HIMSELF HAS SHAT HIS PANTSES!
I'm sold. One please.
Is there anything you dont like about this very schecter guitar...? I own one myself thats why i am curios... tuning for example...
Look into the Mudkiller by Electric Eye. It's an overdrive with compression and it does wonders for muff-style fuzz.
I’m going to an all modeler rig and I’m going to grab one. Probably do a profile of it. And then if I’m going to do an all drive show with not FX I’ll probably just take it with a SS power amp and a small cab. Sounds like it could do that sound really well.
So it's like a RAT with the mid controls from the Deluxe BMP? Smart.
sick demo! That baby hit all the vintage thrash AND even djenty stuff..
Ok so I'll be holding onto my money till they make a dual drive version with an overdrive/boost in collab with Kyle.
Josh Zone!
Kyle how did the first show at the venue go? I might actually buy this pedal also.
fat, greasy, nasty, raw but still defined and articulate - love it!
Kyle you fuckin suck at words but you are top tier on actually showing the gear how we'd fuckin use it. Lol
nice playing! i do not like how that pedal sounds. respectfully
Thomas Steven Lee Jason Williams Anthony
Is it just me or this thing is sounding like MT2
Great demo.
JHS are very good at marketing their products.
In terms of sound, the pedal offers nothing new.
JHS took a Metalzone tone stack, widened the Q of the frequency control, and applied it to a Revv G-series styled distortion circuit.
Revv G-series have VERY effective tone stacks on their own. They’re also less pricey.
If I was looking for a solid metal distortion pedal that’s intuitive and sounds great out of the box, I would go for the Revv. Your mileage may vary.
its not a metal zone tone stack, the metal zone uses a gyrator EQ on the lows and mids, with a shelf on the highs. this one is just bandaxall. it's using the same idea, but far from the same tone stack.
@@lysdexiar31 I’m not strong on the terminology, but the Metalzone mids and lows behave in a very similar fashion to the Hard Drive. You do have a point, that something is different about the highs between the two pedals, plus the Q of the mid-frequency is wider; however, I would still argue that JHS simply improved upon an idea they took from Boss. Like I stated above, the pedal does not introduce anything particularly innovative that the market hasn’t already seen; there are cheaper options (Revv, Metalzone, Fullbore) with nearly the same capabilities.
That Balaguer is sweet! Get me in contact with someone that can get me that jawn
Can you do a review on the Crate gx130c?
Sick pedal 🎸🤘Hope your first venue experience was amazing , such a great idea any video coming???
I feel like the pedal really needed help to get the more defined metal tones. So, it kind of defeated the purpose of the pedal. Just crank the amp that has a gain channel and add the overdrive.
Is this an upgraded line 6 Uber metal?
Tone at the end made me think of "take no prisoners" not death metal
Sounds like an amp!
Sounds metal
Awww man!! I not too long ago bought the JHS Pack Rat looking for that magical tone and then they come out with this that absolutely nails what I was looking for.
Finally someone that's set the bass knob past noon I mean does this thing have so much bass on tap that boosting it is overkill would you say this pedal chugs like an mxr 5150 overdrive if so I might be down with buying one
I would try one first. I played with my buddies and it was underwhelming. I have an mxr 5150 and the hard drive sounds nothing like it. The HD sounds more like a DS1. Kyle makes it sound good by boosting it with an overdrive. On its own it doesnt have a single sound in it that an already existing pedal doesn't do better
I dunno, that opening tone is VERY suspect... Doesn't sound like ANY of the other demos, and I've watched A LOT... You'll notice the volume is cranked up and the gain is down low, so I imagine that this genius (that DOESN'T EVEN KNOW THE NAME of the pedal he's "demoing") has ran this DISTORTION pedal into an ALREADY DISTORTED channel on his amp, lol... Great for "Killer Toanz" comments, NOT so great for an ACCURATE, HONEST demonstration of what the product you're "demoing" actually does, lol... You'll also notice that he didn't show his "clean" sound BEFORE showing his killer Toanz... It'd be one thing if you were just showin off your killer toanz, but this is supposed to be a pedal demo, hoss... But you can definitely tell that HE thinks that people are here for his Toanz, lol... You had one job, Cap'n Toanz, Boo this man!!!
SERIOUSLY... You ATTEMPTED to do a PEDAL DEMO, and the FIRST sound you showed was the featured DISTORTION pedal, ran into AN OVERDRIVE PEDAL (SD-1), THEN ran THAT INTO AN ALREADY DISTORTED channel on your amp??? Dude... Just... Just stop... Do videos about your "killer toanz", but for the love of guitar, DON'T EVER ATTEMPT to make a "pedal demo" EVER AGAIN... Seriously...
you might want to rewatch because everything that you just said was incorrect. I'm glad you're devoting this much time to my video though, thank you so much for the engagement! keep commenting, please. :)
The “if you’re into” intros are legendary !!!
Whoah! halfway into the video and you have this thing sounding killer!
I looked for a demo of someone boosting that thing yesterday. Thanks for doing this.
I'm in the right place ;)
Sounds devoid of tubes for sure... Not warm at all
"warm" 🤣
Nope.
His name is Kyle 1:23
Honest Kyle Journalism is 100% why I am here. No Punches Pulled. Raw, Straight at Your Face Brutal Honesty!!!! Yeah!!!! You Go Kyle!!!!! Hell Yeah!!!!!
Well done DEMO. gotta admit it. This is a tone and sound 🤔 l have never heard. 8 years well spent. JHS very well may have single handily saved the music industry. Someone contact Rick Beato ASAP.
New to the channel, you have a good ear and great taste in gear, I myself am not a pedal guy except for my tube screamer. Great job with your channel,, Rock it! Oh, and wondering if you ever played through the Peavy classic 120, I loved it along with the Peavy rock master preamp, it was the best sounding Peavy I played through, the triple X was to hot for me.
I’m glad you reviewed this pedal. I too am a belligerent amateur with a love for guitar gear and heavy rhythm chugging, so I’m glad to see your experience with it. It sounded good to me, and I bet it would rip with a Notaklon boosting it.
Mentioned last time the quilter made an appearance. If you’re going into the effect return put a dummy plug in the effects send it GREATLY increases the volume. Watch Kurt ballous rig run down you’ll see what I mean.
Definitely think it's rad, but I don't have room for more drive pedals right now :)
RIP Cliff Smith one of JHS engineers who was apart of creating this pedal.
The price is 188,95 EUR in Europe. I think I`ll give it a shot. Sounds incredible, in my opinion. Very tube-amp-like und really tight.
That intro riff was tastier than usual Kyle. Very nice.
How's the rehearsal space coming along?
I loved this video, including when you did the Borat voice, but the pedal didn't do it for me. I really wanted to like it due to the active EQ, but I just wasn't jiving with the tones i heard. Money saved on my end at least.
Keep at 'er.
Don't get me wrong people I think Kyle is awesome comments are just my opinion that's all I personally believe he's a good dude 😉
"Drop butthole" got me. 😂... but is nobody gonna mention that my man has a spider leg for a ring finger? Not trying to be rude, but that thing would make my gram gram start praying.
The Olympic committee has already disqualified this from Telecrasher.
Adam Dutkiewicz would have much shorter shorts. Time to up your game. Lmao
Wahey! That sounds pretty killer! I thought the demo JHS put together sounded pretty poxy.
Drop butthole is literally the best tuning ever. I heard some Deftones style tones too, seems like a cool pedal.
That thing is pretty close to a Marshall Shredmaster.
That also takes overdrives very well.
It sounds really good!! Like, the perfect amount of distortion!
WOOOOOO 40K!!!!! Been on board since 2K. Love you bro!
Surprised how well it sounded in the front of the Marshall. Well done JHS. Thanks for doing a great review Kyle.
Probably the best of the five video demos of this out there I've seen for people that are looking for the real metal sound. Great job and playing was tight af!
Yes the mid controls are awesome, like to have that on my fab tone. However, the jhs is quit awesome.
Dood. Why tf are you playing drums in your band, lol?
"can you believe they pay me to do this?" lmao
I thought it sounded the best with the quilter, I'd like to hear it with my Mosvalve.
Came for the high gain sounds. Stayed for the shorts.
Sounds good man. I always wonder if you listen to Misery Index
That Shecter sounds so sick through this pedal. , I have that guitar in the strat shape
Its got that midrange bite but its not harsh at all. Sounds full and smooth AF!
I feel like this is gonna be my new default distortion pedal. It sounds so good.
