    Good vlog.
    For your information, sour plum juice is made from pickled or fermented ume that's a product from Japan. You can check it out in Wikipedia under "Umeboshi".
    It's popular in Singapore among the older generation. They often eat it (bit by bit) whenever they feel nauseating from illness or motion-sickness, it helps to suppress the feeling of wanting to vomit. The Singapore version (all imported) is pickled/fermented until sour but covered in salt. Hence the sour taste with a bit of saltiness.
    Lastly, too bad that you went to Ghim Moh Market & Food Centre late, if you go before the lunch time crowd, you'll find a lot of the stalls are open. This food centre has a number of stalls that's awarded with the Michelin Bib Gourmand. Unfortunately, because of this, they also tend to have long queues resulting in most of them finishing early and closed; usually by 1.30pm - 2.00pm.

    • @twobetween
      @twobetween  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      We really appreciate the info - Thank you! We've seen umeboshi before but weren't aware that's what this sour plum juice was made from. It was fun to try! And yes, sadly we couldn't fit in a trip to the market earlier due to our limited time - we figured we wanted to still give it a chance and got lucky with a few stalls

    Hey there! Thank you for showcasing Singapore and thanks a million for visiting Ghim Moh Food Centre! I'm saying this because I live in Ghim Moh Link, which is the newer estate across the market via the linkway. The market's well-known in Singapore. Yeah, the best timing to go there is in the morning and/or lunchtime where many of the well-known stalls open.
    I'm sorry that you missed eating the shaved ice (we called that Ice Kachang, which means shaved ice with beans). If you go there again, be sure to visit the one and only dessert stall 金燕。Also, roast duck rice from 九江. Try steamed rice cakes from Ghim Moh Chwee Kueh. Food in Singapore tends to be less heavy on sugar and salt as the government wants use to make healthier choices.
    You guys happened to chance upon the night market (pasar malam in Malay) situating around the place that's not always there. They move around from place to place selling street foods.

    • @twobetween
      @twobetween  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hi, welcome to SG! I live near where you all are staying, so I noticed that you did the 10 minutes walk to Tiong Bahru MRT.. it is a nice walk and all, but I hope you are aware of the “Transfer” scheme for public transport in SG. If you take a bus and then take MRT within the hour, it is counted as a single trip as long as it is different public transport (from bus to MRT, or from bus to another bus of different number). So even though it is only 2 bus stops from Tiong Bahru market to MRT, many locals would take the bus if they plan to take the train anyway. Enjoy your stay in SG! :)

    Are all the food video showing are organic food?
    Are they encourage to eat organic food ?
    Base on the price of organic ingredient, the organic food are tasteless and no much sweetness and flavor.
    Should use approved more industrial food chemical to enhance the flavor of organic food.
    Can make more things in the end out.
