Even though this is a risk assessment film, the cinematography on this should be put to a real, feature film. It amplified the stress and aggression of Don’s illness.

i wouldnt recommend telling someone you need to calm down, this is a trigger phrase. physical intervention usually demonstrates poor deescalation technique, to me. when someone strikes out it appears random to poor observers, as i see it

@@grawakendream8980 Thank you for responding. I have a friend who has ASPD and narcissism. I really care about him. But it's really really hard when he does something terrible then, when I gently talk to him, he turns it around on me and says he feels like a victim because I asked him to explore his thoughts and behaviours. Puzzling that they'd feel this way when in reality,he's the aggressor. Yet,they're really convinced that they're a victim of you if you merely ask them to explore their belief system. I don't see the twisted logic. I just don't. In my mind I see it as merely asking him to explore ideas, but he takes literally almost everything as an insult. Even when none is intended. So that's why I was here, wondering how to bring someone with a victim mentality back to reality. Often their thinking will in their mind, justify the behaviour. It's very difficult.

      A lot of abuse.
Even in evaluation though, A mental health worker aquaintance once told me that they debriefed to another counseller after voluteering on a helpline talking to " mentally ill people" and the counseller said I quote " people who ring these hotlines dont want to change their lives, they dont even need to wear clean clothes or pay anything to make the call...on and on and on" my aquaintance told me all this as if it was good advice I needed to know, and didnt seem interested, but rather insulted when I replied that in all the teaching material we read, they never say that, and that it seems like burn out if you cant even have compassion for people your meant to be helping. Each to their own I guess. All I suggested was that my aquaintance practice some self care pampering in their down time, didnt like it, apparently I cant do anything right no matter what I say. It can be super draining dealing with sad people.

The tactics of that lady at the end who is talking, is way better.
I see how the man are pushing themself on on the client.
(I know that all of this is good acting.)
But when caretakers do not understand how there tone of voice, repeating words and angresive bodylanguits has an impact of sombody in a psycoses...you create more chaos.
Most of the time by taking a relaxt layd back attitude, calm voice and no repeading words....the client wil allow more.
I was in more then enough psycoses to understand this.
I have Aspergers and caretakers have no cluw how bodylanguits and a soothing and empatic way of understanding, could have been enough already so that i could work with caretakers.
Things only got resolted with a lot of hitting.
Even when i was yelling at them to step back and relax in the bodylanguits, the bodylanguits was stil agresive.
And that pusht me more over the edge.

May I suggest a magnesium supplement along with b complex and omega threes? Really really helps me with stress. I also take lemon balm,GABA and L theanine. We're usually caught by surprise, the person's condition is being further aggravated by street substances, and we have no medical history on the person. It's also an environment where they can more easily conceal weapons. The person may even have a contagious disease that we do not know about when making physical contact. We have similar training but cannot administer medication. Does anyone else have shelter experience and know good sources that I can share with my colleagues?

BTW, I´m not sure grabbing the patient´s arms like that would be a good idea, but, I´m not the professional at all.
Again. Amazing acting. Props to this man.

Yeah I'm a nursing student and just watched a video about handling aggressive patients. They should not have yelled or even touched the patient.

I missed the therapy that happened between the first episode and the second episode. Sounded like he was left to himself.
I’m also missing all the Black staff, even one may have had a different impact on his response.
And I know he’s beyond rational, and it would have been interesting for them to bring in a Black psychologists to work with him and perhaps prevent having his meds forced.
Of course I know it’s very complicated, and imagine a white man with all Black people attempting to calm him or “manage” him. What’s the sensation the thought of that brings to you.
Overall, thanks for this video. There’s learning in everything!
The power of the caring touch was very impactful. Kinda went down hill from there.

Here in California if you want to get this kind of treatment / institutionalization they will take half the income of the household ! So tragic, but any homeless nut on the street can get the best metal health help ! But we who worked all our lives get squat , tragic , the system needs to change . Homeless don’t need !

That homeless nut is probably homeless because they couldn't afford their meds. You want violent people on the streets when your out there with your family?High and mighty, aren't we?

I must really and firmly disagree with this utter BULLSHIT. Is it absolutely terrifying that the low to medium high wage population have to fall in debt to deal with what is already a life tragedy? HELL YESS, YESS AND YESS AGAIN. Should you blame people who lost everything and ended up to be a "street nut" as you sir respectfully call them, because your governament welfare ignores the mixed economy concept and proceeds haveing people being robbed of their MOST BASIC RIGHTS?HELL NO. SURE THE SYSTEM MUST BE CHANGED, BUT NOT TOWARDS THE IGNORANT AND RAGEFUL DIRECTION YOU ARE PROPOSING. Hearing that "street nuts" don't need it the way you said it litterally means I am SUPPOSED to have their rights, not them. WRONG: EVERY BODY IS SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE SAME RIGHTS.Sad thing is that when you throw Money into the equation you're not a Citizen anymore, you become a client who can or can't buy what needs...PRECISELY THAT IS HORRENDOUSLY SHAMEFUL.

I hope Don finds a sharp object and the families of these rapist creeps get a tragic phone call.
