SJ Hi, I have a 2018 and I sent my seat to John and felt it was worse than the stock. I called him and he told me to let it break in. I wish I kept my seat stock it was breaking in and was definitely more comfortable. I hope your happy with your new seat I am afraid to throw away any more money. Chuck B
I thought the same about the seat at the beginning, but I waited. After 10,000 miles, the seat become very comfortable. My bike now has 18,000 miles and its the most comfortable seat. Don’t spent your money yet, wait until after 10,000 miles.
Thanks SJ, it was quite informative! I haven’t ridden my 2018 GL1800 far enough nor long enough to know whether the stock seat is as uncomfortable as many have said. I have heard and read many reviews of the wing soft seat as well as the Corbin seat and I like the looks of the Corbin seat better than any of the others I have seen! I’m looking forward to you review of the Corbin seat you just got!!!
SJ, I sent my seat to John to have the wings I’ve done and I also was very disappointed. I called him up and he told me to give it some time and it would break in. Well here I am a couple years later and I wish I had my stock seat back. I’m afraid to spend any more money on a seat I may not like. Hope you enjoy your new seat.
Thank you SO MUCH for your input... wouldn't take a chance to deal with a company that just dismisses your concerns. He has lost so much more than if he had just given you your money back.... Can't wait to hear the review of the corbin.. you rock SJ
I try to share with other Goldwing owners the kind of information I needed before some of my more costly experiences. Thanks for letting me know you like the videos. SJ
I've had the Wingsoft Mod on my 2019 DCT Tour for 1 year and 21,000+ miles and it's been great. Far superior to the stock seat. I found John very easy to work with. I think it's the best bang for the buck IMO. My wife and I have taken several long trips and we're happy with the seat mods.
It worked great for me! John was pretty nice scheduled me for next day service in about an hour had seat done. Im 5'9, 20lbs had severe pain right in middle bone tail area just driving it home from dealer 30miles. Couldn't wait 10k miles for break in. Now pressure more on butt cheeks and upper legs with no pain. Rode for 6 hours no prob.
I had a Kawasaki KLR650 and after riding 100 miles my arse couldn't take another mile. I paid the big bucks and got the Corbin seat and it was worth every penny. My next purchase for my 2021 Goldwing DCT Tour will be a Corbin seat.
Congrats on the purchase the Corbin Seat I hope it solves you seat issues I am not a fan of Corbin, but I like the color looking forward to seeing it on the bike. I have had them in the past and to me they start hard and they stay hard, for me wingsoft was an improvement over the stock seat. I just got back from a 2200 miles ride to Knoxville and back. The wingsoft is not perfect but I was able to ride about 150 miles without too much discomfort. I will say that's why they have so many different seats on the market because our comfort levels are different. I have a friend of mine that just loves his hartco seat I could have gone further but the couple on the other 2004 wing was not able to go further due to back issues. Also I pull a Bushtec trailer and still managed to get 38 miles per gallon normally running 5 mph over posted speed limit. I always run 5 mph over, I don't catch too many vehicles and I don't get run over. Keep the vids coming you have good honest comments, stay safe and ride with pride. Also congrats on the purchase of the 2014 can't have too many bikes.
Yeah, Corbin admits that their seat is on the hard side and I can't see it getting much softer but the contour of the seat is comfortable and sits more like the older generations. I don't feel like I'm sitting on top of the bike, feels more like sitting in it. Thanks for the comments, it is good to hear that people enjoy the videos as I share my experiences with my fellow riders. I really appreciate it...SJ
I agree wholeheartedly with you and your experience. Before I came across your video, I called him to see about him looking at my '08 seat. He basically said he no longer works on pre 2018 bikes. Told me my seat was too old and was crap to do anything with. It might be true, but he just came across as rude AF.
If you’ve been able to demo a saddle from someone’s bike or poured and scoured over reviews and are able to determine it’s a great fit. Then it could be “a winner for the chicken dinner”. My 22 DCT Tour Airbag Gold Wing is my 3rd Gold Wing since 84. I really am smitten with new leaner generation Wing. For me the OEM saddle more than good enough. Long haul touring is like long haul trucking or lengthy traveling in a car. Smart planning of frequent rest stops and then proper electrolyte hydrating, proper stretching of the low back, hamstrings, hips, periformas muscles and sciatic nerve which run deep in the gluteals (butt muscles) and pain can radiate through the legs to the feet. There are easy Specific Stretching Movements that can be done right there at the rest stop and takes little time. When you understand this, life is a whole lot easier and your body can go many hundreds miles with a smile. TH-cam is a great place to learn about these basic easy stretches from Orthopedists, Chiropractors or Sports Science professionals. Motorcycle manufacturers have a hard time pleasing every owner due to body types, weights, height, physical conditioning and spinal conditions from injury. Most major touring motorcycles have something customized about them for the rider at some point. Sometimes the saddle can help fix things. However if you know about pressure points causing pain from prolong sitting you will most definitely enhance your riding. Just my .2
Unfortunately, I didn’t see your video before getting the Wingsoft “upgrade” done to my 2020 seat. It was a total waste of money for me. I didn’t even bother to call him about it. I bit the bullet and bought an Ultimate Tall Boy seat and never looked back.
Thanks for the info. I tried the ultimate seat. Returned it, worse than stock. Was going to try wingsoft next. Him being exmilitary I was confident in his professionalism. Guess not. Once they got your money oh well. Sad to hear. Good luck with the Corbin. Waiting for your review.
Stephen, my seat was designed and purchased through the Corbin website. WWW.CORBIN.COM it will take about three weeks or so for them to build your seat and ship it out. Ride with Pride, SJ
I like the 2018+ wings but the seat does not compare to the pre-2018 models. I would say any upgrade on the seat is a plus. On the pre-2018 models the seat is perfect and I have had no complains even when riding 10-12 hour stretches. Most importantly the wife feels the same and dislikes the later model seats. Let's hope Honda fixed this someday. BTW Your bike is just plain beautiful.
Did the wingsoft and a total disappointment after shipping it to Texas and back. Then I bought a Sadleman sofa and another waist of money, The bikes seats at the garage hardly used.
Sorry to hear that, I lucked and found a 2018 used bike at a dealership that had a Corbin seat. I sat on it and knew almost immediately that was the seat for me. It’s not a soft seat and looking at it I would have never just bought it, but after seating on it I could not believe how comfortable it was. If you watch Chris Caliente videos, we spoke about my seat and he ordered his and he loves it. I don’t know if you’ve every saw his videos with us talking Goldwing. Try to find some one with a Corbin seat to try, you might like it. Some seats are just to soft and you sink through the cushion and the seat pan makes the seat very uncomfortable. Good luck.
Don't try to "cheap out" on a seat. That's why Goldwing seats from '01 thru '21 are just cheap and uncomfortable. CHEAP to build. Many aftermarket people use your same stock seat pan and just build over it. Wrong answer. I am not bragging on Corbin, but they are about as comfortable as you can get. BUT...they are expensive. And they closed the Daytona shop, so now it's all the way to CA. to get anything done to your seat. Shipping charge is a real deal breaker. And you won't be impressed with their customer service. Believe me, you do want the leather seat bottom no matter what brand you get. It will not set your butt on fire like the "naughy" or velour material, and it's just slick enough to be able to move around and not bunch up your pants. I have owned two Corbins on a G-Wing. I used the first one on a '03 and '08, then bought a '13 and it wouldn't fit it. Just my opinion and I'm not knocking anybody else's seat. Also, not a paid ad for Corbin!

Thanks for the info. I have had a a Corbin, ultimate and now looking at a Russel Day Long. The Corbin and Ultimate were no better than stock.
Hey SJ, I am looking forward to seeing your review of the Corbin seat. Tfs
absolutely beautiful bike...stunning.

Thank you for the video. What kind of windscreen did you install?
I went with a C4 Custom with the tint.
I too had the Wingsoft seat done on my 2020 Goldwing, like you I don't think it helped me much as well. Really disappointed in the seat comfort

It amazes me that companies like Honda, they make quality bikes which cost big bucks and the seat quality sucks. Liked the video SJ.
Same thoughts here… perhaps the best touring mcy out there, yet Honda cannot deliver a great seat… wtf? 2018 wing
Great video…. Keep up the great Goldwing content.

Who (what company) did you order your Corbin seat through?

Micheal, agree 100%. For me it is NOT...

As you've probably seen, I got the Corbin seat and passenger backrest. I love my Corbin. It is expensive but I think it is worth it. Ride with Pride.
