Thoughts on Honda Goldwing 6 Months Later
which do you prefer?
Hi John here the goldwings I like are from 2001 to 2010 then 2012 to 2017 don't like the slimmed down newer version of the goldwing
SJ, I ride a 24 non tour DCT but fell in love with the look of the f6b. Since you own 5th and 6th Gen wings what is your opinion on switching back to the 5th Gen. Does it make sense just for the look or do you think the driving is much worse on the 5th Gen? And is the audiosystem really much better on the 5th Gen? I would like to testride one to find out, but here in Germany there are so less f6bs existing. Currently only 2 for sale on the internet and they are about 400 miles away from my home ... Thanks for some of your thoughts on the 2 generations ✌️
Do the pre 2018 models have a gear shift indicator? If so, where is it located at? Thank you!
Thanks for sharing your insight on gen differences.
Best way to improve seating comfort is to replace the fat in your behinds with muscles.
Is that a stock windscreen
You can drop the old one and it doesn’t cost you anything.
You can’t compare used bikes. There could be many things that would not be on a new one. Such as abuse, mishandling or bad break in. Wake up this is a useless comparison. You can compare the wind.
I keep seeing videos about 6th Generation Goldwings having bad transmission recalls?
Hey SJ, Geronimo here, you purchased my 2024 Goldwing a couple of years ago and waned to know how is it going? I miss my girl from time to time but knows that she is in great hands. I also removed a lot of add ons to that bike that I removed; I still have tho add ons and wanted to know if you would be interested in any of them or would you know of anyone else that would be interested. Appreciate ya!
I too had the Wingsoft seat done on my 2020 Goldwing, like you I don't think it helped me much as well. Really disappointed in the seat comfort
It worked great for me! John was pretty nice scheduled me for next day service in about an hour had seat done. Im 5'9, 20lbs had severe pain right in middle bone tail area just driving it home from dealer 30miles. Couldn't wait 10k miles for break in. Now pressure more on butt cheeks and upper legs with no pain. Rode for 6 hours no prob.
Corbin.........been riding Corbin for years.......
The Corbin it looks good but you haven't tried the ultimate?? It's way much comfortable
get an air cushion 30-50$ stop all this insanity

SJ that looks amazing. Thank you for the Corbin review. You are right a good saddle maker is expensive. But that’s relative to the product produced because it’s typically custom and/or then it’s a one time purchase for most people. Do you still have your previous generation Wing? Where are you in Texas. North or South?
I really enjoyed the video and gave it a like, but I was wondering why you were riding in the passing lane for such a long time when it was wide open on both sides? That guy that flew by you was probably not happy about having to pass you on the right side. Anyway, beautiful machine! I love the style of the 2018+ Goldwing! 👍
I’m glad your back on the bike. I think you put out great content. Thanks for the view of the mountain.
You nailed it. Newer wing more single up short trips. Older wing cross country two up😮
Loved my 2006 Goldwing but my 2019 6 speed is definitely better except for luggage storage. It is lower to the ground, handles better in curves, easier to move around (lighter) has great digital information, allows Apple Car Play (this is big for me), definitely shifts smoother and cleaner, love the electric windshield, the key fob is great and the modern design is awesome. Sure there are things about the 06 I liked better but for the overall riding and handling experience the 19 is hands down a better bike.
I rode from Dallas to Van Horn one day back in 1985. Yamaha Venture Royale (1983), pulling a trailer. One of the longest, PIA rides I’ve ever done.
Thanks for the info. I have had a a Corbin, ultimate and now looking at a Russel Day Long. The Corbin and Ultimate were no better than stock.
Off-topic BUT!! Did you actually pass that tractor trailer before your lane was clear? 😠 More balls than brains!
38.2 is pretty good at highway speeds
do 2014 model and the the manual 2020 model have the same engine?
What city do you live in
I live in Beaumont, Texas. And you?
@@sjontheway l live in Madisonville, TX, born and raised in Silsbee TX. Be in Beaumont All the time
what happens when you turn the bike off? you have to carry the helmet in the trunk all the time? useless
If you’ve been able to demo a saddle from someone’s bike or poured and scoured over reviews and are able to determine it’s a great fit. Then it could be “a winner for the chicken dinner”. My 22 DCT Tour Airbag Gold Wing is my 3rd Gold Wing since 84. I really am smitten with new leaner generation Wing. For me the OEM saddle more than good enough. Long haul touring is like long haul trucking or lengthy traveling in a car. Smart planning of frequent rest stops and then proper electrolyte hydrating, proper stretching of the low back, hamstrings, hips, periformas muscles and sciatic nerve which run deep in the gluteals (butt muscles) and pain can radiate through the legs to the feet. There are easy Specific Stretching Movements that can be done right there at the rest stop and takes little time. When you understand this, life is a whole lot easier and your body can go many hundreds miles with a smile. TH-cam is a great place to learn about these basic easy stretches from Orthopedists, Chiropractors or Sports Science professionals. Motorcycle manufacturers have a hard time pleasing every owner due to body types, weights, height, physical conditioning and spinal conditions from injury. Most major touring motorcycles have something customized about them for the rider at some point. Sometimes the saddle can help fix things. However if you know about pressure points causing pain from prolong sitting you will most definitely enhance your riding. Just my .2
I really like my OEM saddle. There are many like me too. Absolutely No issues. This my 3rd Wing since 84. I understand why Honda can’t make a “better saddle” as people ask because you can’t please all the people all the time. There is no perfect anything. Only what’s perfect for you. This is why there is aftermarket for nearly everything.
Now that looks like a proper touring seat.. looks great. Pre 2018 wings are best for sure.
I rented a F6b and was hoping to love it. The engine breaking was more than i could bear. The 5 speed thing weighed on me as well. Over 75 just watched the gas gauge drop. I bought a 2021 DCt non tour and man what a difference. Love the bike and my girlfriend loves it to. Just super smooth and really fun in the twisties once you get to know the bike. I do not like the fact their aftermarket in pretty non existent. Pipes and flash by GUHL.. just missed the cut off too. Sad face!!! Be careful out there!!
Sorry to keep asking. I’ve asked so many bikers for months now in 3 days I leave on my 1800 for a 2 week ride wherever I want to go with nothing to record my trip for myself.
Is this video made with which GoPro and is it mounted on your helmet or chest?
Man I'm so sorry I didn't see this earlier. Still trying to get my arm together after that accident but the camera was mounted on the helmet. I was using a GoPro 9 hero black. You just have to play with to find the right setup for you. Again apologies for such a late response.
Great video pal keep them coming
Was this video made with a GoPro on your chest or helmet?
I agree I almost never ride more than 30 miles from my house just to work but dream of the open road
100%! Very well spoken. Any day on two wheels is a great day, and the longer the journey on them is even better. Keep inspiring. Ride safe and ride often. ATGATT.
Amen, Brother!
Thanks for taking us along for the ride 🙂💜
My dad's 07 gold wing gets around 42 mpg . That part of Texas is very pretty didn't know it looked like that glad you are back
Thank you, glad you like the video. I think I can get better gas mileage if I can keep the speed down. Thanks again.
Great review of the Corbin seat. Now I've got to buy one before my two thousand-mile road trip this summer.
I had a Kawasaki KLR650 and after riding 100 miles my arse couldn't take another mile. I paid the big bucks and got the Corbin seat and it was worth every penny. My next purchase for my 2021 Goldwing DCT Tour will be a Corbin seat.
I purposely bought a 15. Not a fan of the new ones at all
GOODONE
my 1994 GL1500 will out last them both, lol
Nope, they go a while but the GL1800 can go up to 600 K miles
@@seatime674 nope.....trans will go out on most long before 600k.....not all.....but most, The stats show the 1500 was the most dependable wing ever made
@@mattsez2879 Yes 600k miles is a definite stretch and a bad example, I saw one person did that on an 1800, but let's say up to 200k miles I don't see or read anywhere that the 1800 transmission is worse than the 1500 even worth mentioning...
Do you see a difference in the MPG's between the 2020 and the 2014? I just bought a 2009 Goldwing and the RPM's seem high at 60 MPH. 2018 they added a 6th gear. I'm hoping to get 40 MPG with my commute to and from work. I've been cruising on a 2006 Kawasaki Nomad 1600 to get used to big bike rides and I think the seating position will need getting used to. I like the wing though, and I've had my eye on getting one for a while now.
The 2020 Goldwing does get better gas mileage but holds a gallon LESS gasoline. So overall distance remains the same. I get just over two hundred miles per tank.
I think am going to rent both to see which one I like
Comparing 2 completely different bikes, obviously the 2020 is a smoother plusher ride, different suspension system for a start ... why buy a 2014 when u have a 2020 Wing?
I’ve traveled for years on my 2008 Goldwing. Really there’s not that much difference in the ride. But for extended trips for me there is a certain comfort in the larger bike. It might be something that you would have to experience yourself to decide which is better for you. As for me, I love the 2014 more but the 2020 has a couple options my 2914 doesn’t. But not that many.
2014ALLTHEWAY
Great video and music. 👍
Hey SJ, how is the 2014 Goldwing working for you?
I love having the larger Goldwing. I love both but if I had to let one go, it would be the 2020.
