    If you pull back from the thumbnail of this video and squint just a little bit, does anyone else see a horse looking at you!?

    “Artistical”. Oh boy. I just don’t know where to start! 😂😂. Great video though as always, and amazing to learn some more about wider.

    Very interesting. I think they are certainly going to make their mark on the world. I, personally, don't find them attractive looking but that's a personal thing. I simply prefer traditional lines.
    I love the aluminium construction, I love the diesel electric power & the Azipods, I love that they are using the bow for an engine room & opening up a prime area of the boat for guest space.
    There is a huge amount of innovative thinking going on here & they are in an area with the skill base to make that innovative thinking come to life. My personal preference for traditional lines in no way blinds me to the fact that they are raising the bar in the super yacht market & they are going to influence the thinking in that entire industry.

    Like the Tesla Model S I think if everything comes together for this Yacht the Wider 150 will be a landmark achievement. Especially if they would use fuel cells instead of Diesel engines. I am not a fan of the bridge top but the watercraft/teak beach area is remarkable.

      Hi BT! Thanks for your comment. The propulsion system is revolutionary for the yachting industry and more details have emerged since I produced this video. I have written a blog article about it that you may find interesting yachtsforsaleblog.com/2014/06/17/making-waves-with-diesel-electric-propulsion/

      Very interesting article thank you. I am intrigued by the idea of having the engines in the front and look forward to seeing the finished boat cutting through the water. There are yachts such as the Prestige 750 that seem a bit front heavy and suffers for it in my opinion.
      A 150' yacht had different dynamics I am sure. Anyway thanks again for the link.

    My question on the larger yachts is always "How much does it draw?" Often I learn that draught so badly limits ports of call, that I really would not want it regardless of how good it is in other ways.

    • @Yachtsforsaleblog
      @Yachtsforsaleblog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Casey Vee That's a really good question, and one that is of particular concern to U.S. clients who enjoy using their yacht in the shallow waters of the Bahamas. The hull design of the WIDER 150 employs pods rather than in-line shafts, so the draft is very low; 1.98m or 6' 5". The WIDER 150 will easily enter any super yacht marina.

    I would love to see this boat perform on wavy waters compared to conventional boat design to see pros and cons in front engine design... (hmmm... I'm very curious)

    • @Yachtsforsaleblog
      @Yachtsforsaleblog  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ben Jay, thanks for commenting. The weight of four generators in the bow should not adversely influence the performance, since this is a displacement yacht rather than a planing hull design. I was in the shipyard a couple of days ago, the forward power generation room is now ready, and there is a great deal of work being done to cushion the generators in this area since obviously it ill be subject to a fair amount of movement in rough seas. The battery storage area, or "Power Management Room" will be midships, just forward of the swimming pool/tender bay. This is a fraction of the size of a traditional engine room. Cables are being installed, and the entire system from the generators to the props has now been tested and is ready for installation.

    what about going towards fuel cell propulsion, like the 'blue box' or LOHC technology?

    • @Yachtsforsaleblog
      @Yachtsforsaleblog  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ustadh Jee, and thanks for your comment. I don't know too much about fuel cell technology, although I was involved on the outskirts of a project that proposed a propulsion system using hydrogen fuel cells. After weeks of analysis, the engineers studying the project concluded that it was not a viable proposition due to the weight/power ratio for smaller craft (the yacht in question was 70m LOA). I'm no expert on the subject...but I feel sure that as this technology advances we shall eventually see it used extensively in the yachting industry.

    I am just curios because of course I cannot afford this wonderful boat. But has it sold yet? And if it has how is it holding up? Any major complaints?

      @Yachtsforsaleblog  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Gary, the yacht sold a few months ago. The owner plans to cruise extensively with her this coming summer, but she has already covered many sea miles with no major problem. Thanks for your comment, and make sure you watch the video of the finished yacht :0) th-cam.com/video/z2un6ysmNeU/w-d-xo.html

    When the rich buy mansions or yachts, they usually just consider the purchase price. But what about the operating costs? Staffing, maintenance, and repairs can be financial sinkholes, and it’s all too easy not to discover them until you’ve been swallowed up.
    A mansion For yachts, the operating costs are about 10% of the purchase price. So a $24 million, 150-foot yacht will cost you about $2.5 million a year to run.

      @Yachtsforsaleblog  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Alex177 and thanks for commenting. You are right on almost everything...except that the wealthy usually do pay careful consideration to the running costs. Trying to justify a yacht purchase from a financial point of view is just about impossible, you really need to consider it as money lost in order to increase your quality of life. I wrote a popular blog about this at yachtsforsaleblog.com/2013/10/10/sex-on-a-yacht/ Enjoy reading!

      The rich understand the concept of assets vs liabilities, I agree, you don't buy a yacht to make a profit later, you buy it because you want to live a dream. :)

    Saying that they aspire to the greats mentioned or that they draw inspiration from the greats mentioned would have been tolerable. Saying that they are the same as those people though, well that's just stupid. That kind of arrogance and self importance is not inspiring, it's self centered and short sighted.

      Hi Emerson, Thanks for your comment. My intention was to inform viewer a little about the area that the yacht is being built in, since many people are not familiar with "Le Marche". There have been plenty of great people born there and today some world class super yachts are being built in the area. I may have got carried away in my analogy...but I'm very enthusiastic for the project!

    Funny how they talk about efficiency in terms of a yacht. Am I the only one who noticed this? Seems like an oxymoron.

    • @Yachtsforsaleblog
      @Yachtsforsaleblog  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ben Blanco thanks for commenting. Yachts certainly aren't built with efficiency as the main priority, but some are more fuel efficient than others. Many owners prefer a yacht with long range and also love the idea of spending a night at anchor without the generators on (more for sound and vibration reasons than for fuel savings). In yachting circles the WIDER 150 is about as efficient as you can get.
