- Constructed entirely in aluminum to increase performance and allow for greater freedom and flexibility during the build process, the WIDER 150’s elegant silhouette was created by Fulvio De Simoni in collaboration with the in-house WIDER design team.
The remarkable design of the WIDER 150, which includes a 7m indoor/outdoor swimming pool, 75 square meter master stateroom, and her ability to run in near silence using only her batteries, has resulted in unprecedented levels of interest and a collection of awards from the most prestigious organizations, including the World Superyacht Awards, World Yachts trophy and RINA.
Winner, within the category “Displacement Motor Yacht under 500 GT, 42m to 46.9m” at the World Superyachts Awards, the 150’ outshone all competitors within her class and was additionally awarded a special commendation prize for Technology and Innovation, in recognition of the Diesel Electric Propulsion System combined with the intelligent layout and use of the forepeak for the four variable speed generators to create more usable guest areas in the mid ship.
At the World Yachts Trophy held in Cannes during the Yachting Festival the Italian yacht carried away the highly-contested award for 'Most Innovative Yacht' in the 38m-54m category. Further recognition for the WIDER 150 arrived at the MYS Awards Ceremony on the eve of the Monaco Yacht Show where the 47 meter received the 2016 MYS/RINA Award, the prestigious trophy rewarding the most eco-friendly superyacht exhibited at the Monegasque event, whose construction complies with a series of performance specifications as defined by the Italian classification company RINA.
This is not all: the 47 meter superyacht is the first to obtain the highest possible rating from the Registro Italiano Navale (RINA) with a perfect score of 100/100, for her class leadingly low levels of noise and vibration, the first time that this has ever been awarded.

Damn, this company is going places, very innovative designs. As a marine engineer I'll reserve kudos until I hear how reliable some of these systems and features are, Italian yachts are like their cars, finicky and tempremental, but there's no denying the vision and scope of the designers. Quite amazing, and a huge step up from superyachts from even 10 years ago. Hats off to Weider and a well presented video from their spokesman here.
The best yacht I've ever seen! As a yacht fan, this vessel has everything, one can possible desire and yet she still feels like a boat, rather than a 5 story floating building! Great video ;)

Incredible, but really we need to see how the systems, especially the pod diesel electric systems hold up. With so many innovations and obviously electronic systems maintenance could be a nightmare.
Arisgod27 Yeah, I'm concerned about seaworthiness; the weight distribution looks funky and I don't see how that would be useful during inclement weather. Also, the interior looks like a 70s department store.
That's the same thing I thought. I wonder if the generators being placed forward causes it to porpoise. Interior looks plain, but maybe that was intentional so the new owner can put his own touches on it. I do believe it is still looking for an owner too. Something is off on this one.

Regardless of how you blow smoke on it... You only have so much space. How you use that space is the key. Sacrificing space for something is the game. Can you get a square peg in a round hole? Thinking outside the box to reveal the genie.. You only have a 12oz bottle and your trying to get 24oz in that space... its magic.. You have done just that...

As I understand it their shape is much more flexible (no drive shaft for example) and so they can be fitted around the bow rather than take up more useful space further back.

im not impressed by many yachts these days but wow this one is sweet. how does the swimming pool/ tender carrier work? does the swimming pool open up to the sea and fill with sslt water to load the boat? if so woulsnt this cause horrible cleaning problems in the pool? just me thinking of everything...lol
If you have a yacht this size, you dont worry about cleaning. The crew handles that.

The tender is not diesel electric, WIDER 32 has 2 x 260 HP Mercruiser 3.0 TDI / BRAVO 1 DTS... it is not to take for granted to install electric batteries on a small yacht, there are SPACE and WEIGHT to be considerate ;)
Does it have a steam room like the 165?

Then fuel 45 000L( 11 800 US GAL) for 4700 nm @ 10Kn (so quite few fill ups in year/month depending on usage) and Crew PAY, marine fees, port tax, etc etc etc... well if you have income of 3 million of euro per year, after tax deduction then yeah by all the means get one and send me invite... I will be more to happy to clean the deck for ya... LMAO ;)

You don't need giant engines this way, with four generators you can scale up power production as demand increases. There's less NVH just from that, add in no prop shafts running through the hull and you get even less vibrations. Think of it like the difference in noise and bumps going down the road in a Rolls Royce Phantom vs a Hyundai Elantra.
Jason where does it store the electricity? is it better on mpg? are those the only benefits
There will be a battery bank for what is referred to as the hotel load, which is all the lights, AC, stove, fridge ect. The engines though are powered directly from the generators. They operate like a locomotive. In theory it should be more fuel efficient as the generators would always run at their optimum rpm regardless of boat speed.
If I become a politician and did crooked deals and took back-handers, I might be able to afford a boat like this one day.

Well, it's a point of view: if you compare it with an express cruiser it will result you slow, if you think that it is a superyacht reaching more than 14knots, well, it's not. For these kind of yachts hte most important things are the comfort, the silence, the luxury and the fact that you can go into natural reserves using only the batteries!

Hey Wider why not get a fast amphibious Tender Boat/Car to go in that garage? I built a fast prototype that runs right at 45 mph (39 knots) on water and is fast on land too. Watch Video th-cam.com/video/RA9Z9nhJK7M/w-d-xo.html . This was my first generation prototype it is 80” wide by 20’ long (2.05 meters x 6.15 meters long) and has seating for 8 people. I am working on prototype #2 with my own custom transmission. It is a way better layout than the one in the video. I can custom build a fast amphibious limo size unit with 4 wheel drive and 4 wheel steer and yes the wheels will be fully retractable and yes it will be fast in the water.
