Now you know why firefighters laugh at a car crash and everyone is ok because they get to witness some horrific deaths and injuries. Thank you Americas finest
They laugh sometimes because it is a reaction to a reaction to a very stressful situation. Not because it is funny. I have been there myself. I worked for 5 years as a Paramedic in Iowa and left the field because of the stress and hours.
"America's finest". Sure, that's what I call firefighters that stand around laughing while a woman is crying and suffering while bleeding inside of a crushed car after being in a catastrophic accident. Not calmly talking to her, not trying to calm her down, no showing of any form of empathy, just standing around and laughing with each other while this woman is in tears in pain while trapped. "Finest" my ass. Try again...
That's an assumption. If I got in an accident, by the time the cameras are rolling, I would have for sure tried to take my seatbelt off to get out. DUH
She is a huge woman in a small car, not a good fit when involved in a major crash. this is what is happening to us here in America. The cars are downsizing and we as residents are getting fatter.
I read an article that 40% of the time officers indicated DUI on sober people in a study. It is too subjective. From what I saw, that guy didn't look intoxicated. He walked a better line than I can sober. Good grief. Three cheers for the fire department that extracted her.
I don’t think the slides help but I wonder if he had warrants and/or something in the car because he didn’t seem drunk to me but shock and adrenaline can sometimes sober us up but not enough to hide certain signs of intoxication.
I saw a video in which a young woman was really shaken up after a crash. She was trembling and tearful and had difficulty walking a straight line. They said she was drunk, but her blood alcohol level exonerated her---zero alcohol in her system. After watching that, I tried to walk a straight line in my living room. Zero alcohol in my system and I could not walk a straight line! So scary.
Those eye/walk/balance tests are of little value. The only reliable indicators of alcohol levels are breath, urine or blood tests. If I was ever stopped for "suspicion of DUI" I would absolutely insist on one (or all) of these. It may be the case here that in the event of an accident, some sort of "alcohol" test is required and that this is standard procedure.
@@fulanichild3138 what part is scary? If you're sober blow in the machine and suggest a blood test so they also know it wasn't drugs. 🤷♀️ Thank em for their service, say you'll fix your break light or whatever they initially pulled you over for (or that you'll stop driving distracted, or on too little sleep, etc) and sail on out of there. They also have standardized field sobriety test options for those who have health conditions which affect standing (pain, fainting conditions, documented balance issues etc) they can use instead of the walking and balance ones where you count down from a specific number to a specific number, or recite the alphabet WITHOUT singing it (consider saying the letters with spaces between them [a, b, c, d] and avoid "elemenopee" and "wyeanzee" so it's obvious you're not resorting to singing it in your head). But hey! If you're sober what's the problem? Count down from 67 to 52. Do it now while seated on the couch. Start the alphabet at D and continue through V. How bad was it? Do you have a pulmonary issue that you think would hamper your ability to provide a breath sample or something? Give blood or urine. Scared of needles? Urine test. Heads up urine tests will show a more protracted timeline of substances in your body so if you used something days ago it might show up on urine but not blood 🤷♀️ Also consider getting a blood test at a doctor or hospital immediately afterwards so you can provide proof there wasn't anything else going on: they may even find you had an unexpected medical event (stroke, diabetic episode) or something that caused the behavior that stood out to law enforcement, if the need arises in court later you can mention that too if necessary. It probably won't be necessary but hey. As a bonus if you seek medical oversight afterwards you know you have the condition and how to treat it and avoid the thing happening again if applicable. In Europe they skip straight to administration of a breath test and drug test at the side of the road, but in America lawsuits often bring up an implication the police tested you without proof (probable cause) you needed to be tested, hence the roadside FSTs. If you don't like them petiton your legislation to change it to the way Europe does it. Hey presto. Depending on what state you live in DUIs may be only a traffic ticket anyway. 🙄 Frankly how little they affect your life is way scarier to me than the "risk" I'll be arrested but then neither charged nor convicted ✨️because I was driving sober✨️. Friendly reminder: the roadside is not where you prove guilt or innocence, that is the courtroom, if it even escalates to that point. Be polite, comply, don't struggle if they cuff you, walk to their car and get in calmly, and think about favorite songs till to get to the part where they offer a breath test. Do it. Get a blood test, especially if they're paying. Apologize to your boss or one true love or friends or whoever you missed the appointment with, say you had a flat tire or got pulled over for a tail light you didn't know was out, whatever. If they're mad you didn't call you can always say you couldn't find your phone. It will be technically true, since the police won't let you use yours in the back of the cop car. I think the only risk I can think of is that I don't know who pays for the tow if your car is towed due to John's law, if it turns out the driver whose car was towed was sober. Maybe someone else knows that one. Anyway, hope that allays some of your fears, have a great one.

The only comment that I have is this: My heart goes out to all first responders to have to deal with a situation like this one on a daily basis unnecessarily IF DRIVERS WERE REALLY RESPONSIBLE BEHIND A WHEEL!!! They are the true heroes who deserve to be paid a high salary. These guys do not get a break, they never do. FIRST RESPONDERS have my utmost respect doing a job that no one would want to do. Unbelievable. God bless all the firefighters, police officers, and paramedics. 🙏🙏🙏

I agree with the original commenter... Other guy is just a nasty individual!!! I'm not skinny anymore..😊...She will have so much trouble trying to recover... Weight is the worst thing to carry while trying to get around... It's going to hurt either way but more so, by putting that weight on any thing that may have been injured... He's just been in a major accident and his lady is injured. The adrenaline and stress would make anyone be disoriented. His shoes weren't helping for the toe-to-heel walk either.
My heart goes out to the responders. It is incredibly difficult working with people that size. You need lots of help. I remember how challenging it was when I worked in hospitals. There was a team you’d have to call to simply move from bed to chair for those types of patients .
DON'T TAKE THOSE DUI TESTS!!! they are subjective and you will always lose. Did anyone else take notice he, in my opinion, passed the stand on 1 foot and 9 step heel to toe, but got arrested anyway.
My ex could always pass those tests even though he was SH*T faced. So because of the injuries, they are going to need a breath and or blood test. But they have to do the gymnast tests first. Don’t take the tests? Why?. Even if you get arrested and taken into custody, you will go free if you are .08 or less. Nothing to fear Unless you have been drinking. For those who say going to the jail is an inconvenience if you aren’t over the limit. What about all the people who were inconvenienced because you couldn’t control your vehicle.
Sure looked that way. I can't help but wonder if it's just a preliminary arrest pending the results of the blood test. I doubt thats the case, but watching him take that test, he did better than I would when I'm sober...
Hindsight is 20/20. I’ve worked a few “extended extrications”. IDK anymore than what we see. I wonder why Medics didn’t begin treatment, including pain management. I also wonder why the team didn’t “remove the car from the victim”. Remove roof, A, B, C posts, doors; lower seat back, slide backboard under her, secure her as best as possible; then begin removal.
Sure looked as though he passed the sobriety test easily 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Why was he handcuffed and most likely arrested? I’d be getting a lawyer if I were him! It’s on video how well he did on the test, he didn’t even tremble while holding his foot up and the “walk hell to toe was perfect “!!! Very suspicious to me?
I KNOW that cop ain’t giving that guy a field sobriety test. As a medic of 25 years- You rookies need to learn something- That man could be injured and it could affect his ability to pass one. Judging from that accident scene this man should be ordered to sit down and NOT move. Especially standing on one leg and all that nonsense! Because even if they do not feel injury.. it could be masked by adrenaline or shock. Even if he is intoxicated, there is zero reason why you need to jeopardize this man’s safety! Had he been drunk and fell from holding his leg up or following your ridiculous rules, he could permanently paralyze or kill himself. You need training. And sir… you need a lawyer!
Andddd...it looked like he passed the FST's anyway...why did they slap the cuffs in him??!...but yes, I agree...they should not have jeopardized his safety with their ridiculous tests.
Very true. I was up moving all around saying I was just fine. Someone noticed blood coming from my knees. I even turned down the ambulance. Within 15 min the shock wore off and I was shaking I was in so much pain. Had broke all my ribs on left side. Compression spinal fracture, another fracture in spine, broken foot, knees went into dash and destroyed them, internal bleeding, cuts in my neck from seatbelt and in my hips. Had a three inch wide seven inch long hematoma on my hip from seatbelt. Cuts and bruises everywhere. Since the US no longer treats pain I got 1-5mg lortab and nothing else. Cried for two months from the broken ribs. You can see the misplaced ribs in my chest now and feel them. My spine is screwed for life. It was a 60mph wreck. Car ran a stop sign last minute and I had no time to hit the breaks. Was an awful crash.
And those who have tried to glamorize obesity and make it a normal form of health to others, should try doing the firemen's rescue job for a similarly obese person themselves.
He probably WAS drunk, but the crash sobered his a## up. The thing is, you can't hide anything from a blood draw. As long as he was above .08, they had him. He should have refused the draw.
Imagine these people going home after this. The mental stress seeing someone so badly hurt and sometimes seeing the life going out of them. The world would be nowhere without first responders👏👏👏👏

No, I'm not gonna sugarcoat it. the truth is when you are morbidly obese like this an average situation can turn into critical life-threatening problems. Not only her size kept them from being able to help her quickly, but if she has to have surgery or rehabilitation it is going to be a nightmare for her and for the people around her. to care for her in a hospital bed will take three caretakers. Cars aren't downsizing. They're getting larger every generation.
So scary.
@@fulanichild3138 NEVER EVER do the FST's.....only purpose is to use evidence against you
Those eye/walk/balance tests are of little value.
Urine test. Heads up urine tests will show a more protracted timeline of substances in your body so if you used something days ago it might show up on urine but not blood 🤷♀️
Also consider getting a blood test at a doctor or hospital immediately afterwards so you can provide proof there wasn't anything else going on: they may even find you had an unexpected medical event (stroke, diabetic episode) or something that caused the behavior that stood out to law enforcement, if the need arises in court later you can mention that too if necessary.

He also passed the eye test right before that - easily!
Yes, I noticed too plus as zariballard commented, he also seemed to pass the eye test 🤔
FSTS are not pass or fail. They're just to collect evidence against you in court. Once a piglet asks to do an FST, arrest is imminent.
Sure looked that way. I can't help but wonder if it's just a preliminary arrest pending the results of the blood test. I doubt thats the case, but watching him take that test, he did better than I would when I'm sober...
He really didn’t though. I saw him take quite a few questionable steps there.
It's too dangerous to give pain medication in a situation like that.
I thought the same thing.
I KNOW that cop ain’t giving that guy a field sobriety test.
As a medic of 25 years-
You rookies need to learn something-
That man could be injured and it could affect his ability to pass one.
My comment did not include this info , but you're right 100% .
