If you tune one vehicle with your device and decide to later add on parts or change the tune for that vehicle, you can change it as many times as needed with the same device. No…you simply open your old licensed file that you used to write to the ECM during your first tune. Make sure you save the file and keep it safe (don’t lose or delete it.) It has the license encoded within it. You simply open it up again, make the updates to it, and then perform another “write” to the ECM. If you try to use a different tune file other than your original one, it’ll ask you to purchase credits again.
How to install into an ECM in car? Does ECM need to be taken out of car each time? So if I am driving on a 93 pump program and want to top off half my tank with e85 and run my 50/50 tune, do I have to pull the ECM and connect to laptop while filling with gas? Or can I plug laptop into that OBD2 looking universal credit box?

What if my tuner protects his work? Will i be able to flash it due to my car is already licensed and the file already has been licensed during first download? Sorry for my bad english.. TIA
Your tuner would have paid for an unlimited Vin license and would write the tune file with his module. You would need to pay for enough credits to write his tune file with your module.
No. You can scan, download, edit, even change gear ratio/tire size. And the software is a free download on their website. When you upload you will need to license each vehicle. It's a one time license for that vehicle.
@@TheTuningSchool Uploading is part of using. I was not looking for something that would require paying for every vehicle program modification. You will need at least 2 credits to unlock your ECM. There are other variables that may require more. They are however a one time purchase for that specific VIN.
If you are speaking of entire makes/models unlimited, it doesn't exist. If you are speaking of Gen III GM trucks unlimited it is 30 credits. You will see the option when you go to license the vehicle.
TheTuningSchool I did this for my camaro , unlocking was 4 credits , then after that I sent the base tune to my tuner, did I mess up Doing that ? Should of I sent the base tune first then waited for my tuner to send it back then use the 4 credits ? Or does it not Matter In which order I do it in ?

They aren't stored in the vehicle, but they are licensed to the computer in that vehicle. If my understanding is correct, at the point you sell that ECU, the credits are useless
What's the time stamp for the part you're talking about? Different vehicles cost different credit amounts. Then you can purchase just one license specific to your Vin or you can purchase an unlimited license. Unless you're a tuning shop you won't need to buy the more expensive licenses.
If you could elaborate I’d really appreciate it. I have a cam and springs only Silverado. I’ll be swapping the tranny then getting a turbo. I’ll need to tune it several times. How I understand it that’s 2 credits.
I like the product and its capabilities BUT I wouldn't buy it solely because of the "credit system". If I'm spending hundreds of dollars on a product, it should do as it says without forking over more money. That's like buying a fishing rod and having to pay the manufacturer a fee every time you want to switch lures. Nope.
A better analogy would be you pay for your fishing rod and then have to pay for fishing line but once you buy the line you have unlimited fishing line for that pole. If you want to put your fishing line on another pole you would need to pay for another unlimited fishing line spool for the new line.
LooooooooooooLL :) They prefer to hide it as credit! Also why complicated system for taking my money each time I open the software! just take it one time!
@@RAED8282 It's only one time per vehicle, if you are tuning enough vehicles that it's too expensive to pay per vehicle you can get the unlimited license. Compared to some other tuning software it's cheap. SCT wants $1000+ to tune 1 vehicle.

You will need at least 2 credits to unlock your ECM. There are other variables that may require more. They are however a one time purchase for that specific VIN.
upgrading OS required credits?
OS upgrades have not required credits, since the software moved off version 2.24.
Hello do I need to buy credits to just datalog or scan without tuning?
You can scan the vehicle using an HP Tuners MPVI or MPVI2 unit and the HP tuners VCM Scanner software without licensing the vehicle.
I just bought two credits but it’s not showing me that
If you have an MPVI2 or MPVI2+ ensure you are connected to the internet and resync. Thanks!
How does unlimited work?
If you are speaking of entire makes/models unlimited, it doesn't exist. If you are speaking of Gen III GM trucks unlimited it is 30 credits. You will see the option when you go to license the vehicle.
I really want to learn to tune but god dang these prices are bull
Give us a call today! Maybe we can help.
If I spend credits to tune. Do I have to spend credits again to retune?
No. As long as you use same interface and same car computer you will have it unlocked for life of car computer.
TheTuningSchool I did this for my camaro , unlocking was 4 credits , then after that I sent the base tune to my tuner, did I mess up
Doing that ? Should of I sent the base tune first then waited for my tuner to send it back then use the 4 credits ? Or does it not
Matter In which order I do it in ?
@@akidim13 doesn't matter the order. You're just paying to license your module to write to your vehicle.
Doberman Racing haha thank you for the reply , was worried about me doing it in the wrong order , but tuner sent me my tune and all was well , now I have a bigger problem , cylinder 4 having no compression 😂😂
I have a Chevy Sonic and a GMC Sierra, I'm thinking about getting a HP kit to disable the DOD/AFM on the sierra which would be a 1 time thing, however... I switch between winter tires and summer tires on both vehicles so will I need a credit everytime I change the tire size a.k.a. "write to" the vehicles?
They have chips or pre-programed tuners that do what you need and way easier to use. Superchip and bullydog are just two of the many that do this.
No you only need to pay for the license once per vehicle. Then you can retune that vehicle an unlimited amount of times.
can you remove credits from a vehicle. lets say you are going to sell the vehicle and don't need the tune anymore on that vehicle.
the credits are not stored in your vehicle.
They aren't stored in the vehicle, but they are licensed to the computer in that vehicle. If my understanding is correct, at the point you sell that ECU, the credits are useless
This is why Holley EFI is better 🍺
😂 why are you on this video then? 😈
Holley EFI tunes one vehicle.
Yeah, think I'm gonna check out the self tuning efi's on the market or something else. $50 Dollared to death is not a trap I want to be in.
HP Tuners on average is 2 credits or $100 to unlock one ECM. You never have to pay to unlock it again as it's a one-time fee.
@@TheTuningSchool even if my ECM goes out or gets bricked?
IIt shows 2 credits, but next to it shows 6. Completely skipped over that in video...who reason I watched captain obvious.
What's the time stamp for the part you're talking about?
Different vehicles cost different credit amounts. Then you can purchase just one license specific to your Vin or you can purchase an unlimited license. Unless you're a tuning shop you won't need to buy the more expensive licenses.
You guys always forget about having to buy credits for the OS options (2bar, 3bar, etc.)
If you could elaborate I’d really appreciate it. I have a cam and springs only Silverado. I’ll be swapping the tranny then getting a turbo. I’ll need to tune it several times. How I understand it that’s 2 credits.
this is not the same company as hp tuners!/?
Let's talk about hp tuners ripoff points, terrible way of doing it, pcm's don't last forever inevitably
If you want to put your fishing line on another pole you would need to pay for another unlimited fishing line spool for the new line.
what is n/a mean?
naturally aspirated
Why don't they just call it Dollars? Thats right it's a ponsie scam!
LooooooooooooLL :)
They prefer to hide it as credit!
