- Fans of the movie 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' are sure to remember Jason's puppet musical featuring Dracula.
Well Jason and Dracula are back will a full and much more upbeat version of 'Dracula's Lament'. Backed by The Broken West, this was their performance on the 1000th episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.
No news on a full musical yet, we can but hope that 'A Taste for Love' will be released in the near future ;)

9 and a half years later and this is still the greatest song ever.
*10
Almost 11 now
playe royale cover of this song
Still play it regularly. This version needs a studio recording!
12 years and it gets better with time I stg
It’s crazy. This movie really moved me. I made a simple post on Facebook saying “die, die, die.... I can’t.”. I met the love of my life that night through Facebook. I was blown away that someone even knew my reference but once we actually met... it was love immediately. I forever own Jason and this song my life. It is my everything.
How are things going?
Perfect.
Cunts find cunts.
Amazing!!🎉❤❤❤❤
Wow amaizing! Kinda stuff that makes my day
This song still gives me hope even after all these years. Thanks to Jason Segal and his love of puppets and music.
This musical needs to happen for real
It did
+William Bojangles where and when?? what is the namenf the musical?
It would be way better than the crap they come out with now. Next up is the life and music of Neil Sedaka or Ridgemont High on Broadway
Umm....it was
@@gamerfan81 where?
I love how Jason Siegel actually appears to be having a great time during this!
the emotion jason expresses during this is amazing. theres obviously a sense of sorrow. but he also looks so proud.
Exactly right! Also, just look at how Jason looks at his puppet during the performance.
@camdix3250 i know right. Its like hes looking at his kid thats playing bassball or somthing. Its wholesome as hell
the bass and guitar really really takes this song to different levels of awesome. Well done Jason.
For me it's the bass and the harmony of the singing.
It takes mad skill to get a crowd of people excited for a song sung by a puppet of Dracula voiced by Jason Segel.
In case you didn't know this was on the 1000th episode of Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson which was puppet-themed that night. Craig used puppets very regularly on the show overall
All day all night.
John McDonald it’s actually a good song lol
It’s weird that a singing Dracula puppet has deeper lines than most song lyrics
It works better for the system if anything you subscribe to or follow keeps you locked in the cyclical system they've built.
If everyone stopped focusing on music, movies, sports, and getting hammered on the weekends, we might accomplish an actual revolution and be rid of this broken system.
Songs like this get out by luck and chance. Having read on this song in particular it wasn't even called for in the script for Sarah Marshall but when they heard it was Segalls side project they're like why not it's quirky and different let's use it. Segall thinking to himself I might not get another chance took the opportunity.
Sometimes you have to dig but eventually you can find some real gems. The diamonds in the rough if you will.
@@Blue24U I sort of get what you're saying. What's "popular" right now is pretty souless, but there is always music, fim and literature worth finding, and sometimes it's more fun to discover something uncovered, then just saying "I like Taylor Swift because I think I'm supposed to"
That's just what society wants you to think man! Art is art no matter what form!
Very touching and unique. A favorite of mine...maybe because I've been a fan of Bram Stoker's Dracula for nearly 50 yrs. 😉🧛♂️🎶
God this was too good... 7 years later and I'm still listening to it!
Hi from 5 years later, I still love this song
Beauty found in strange places is the most beautiful.
I honestly can't say that I have ever seen a better Dracula puppet love song, originally in a comedy movie, performed by a celebrity on a late-night talk show, in my whole life!
"Seeing your face I can see things are going to be brighter!" This is the most poignantly heartbreaking "love song" I've heard in a very long time. It's funny how sometimes we need to look no further than the lament of a lovesick sesame street vampire from to see how unrequited love is still one of the purest and most powerful themes in any kind of literateure. Great song, Should be number 1 in the charts!
As cheesy as it is, I keep coming back because it's still one of the most romantic songs I've ever heard.
''when I speak your name I can feel I just said something sacred, while the saints pray for heaven I thank god I'm already there'' .... Such a Nick Cave line
Jason's mechanics with the dummy is just perfect and the human emotion is spot on!!!!!!
right?? Was so great..
"When I speak your name, I can feel I just said something sacred."
That might just be the smoothest line ever written...
To this day I'd still pay good money to see this play live
One, two, one two three four!
Ha-ha-ha-ha!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
It's getting kind of hard
To believe things are going to get better
I've been drowning too long
To believe that the tide's going to turn
And I've been living too hard
To believe things are going to get easier now
I'm still trying to shake off
The pain from the lessons I've learned
Having you here now
I see things are going to be brighter
Oh, and feeling you here now
I know I might make it through
Oh, loving you this long
Has made me believe in forever
And with you, these dreams
I'd forgotten might somehow come true
And knowing your embrace this well
Just makes me want to be better
And knowing your heart this well
Makes me wish mine would grow
(Oh my love)
And loving you this much
Makes me want to write sweet songs forever
With a little love, babe
We could make the whole world know
How much I love you
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
And when I see your face
I will swear to the Lord I was dreaming
And when I hold your hand
I watch time disappear into air
(Oh my love)
And when I speak your name
I can feel I just said something sacred
While saints pray for heaven
I thank God I'm already there
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Absolute genius. Disney need to let him make his Dracula musical.
is it wierd that the most beautiful song ive ever heard is being sung by a puppet....or is that the whole point? ahhhhhh feels
It's fitting that it's kind of in the style of The Cure. btw, holy shit, if these are the types of songs Jason Segel makes, it's time for a career change or at least to put out an abum. This is incredible.
I was thinking the same thing in regards to the Cure. Cool tune and slightly addicting. Love the lyrics.
It is exquisite , I am 66 and was wondering if I would ever hear anything this good again.
I get the cure for sure, but it kind of reminded me of like a dark, gothic Neil Diamond.
The Cure.... nah.
It reminds me of Pictures of You.
Dude I'm talking about a whole 3 act play, not just the song. Segel tried to write a musical Dracula puppet show for theater but he never actually finished it. I wish he would finish it and take it to Broadway and stuff.
Wow, I just saw this and was floored by these lyrics. Man, that was an awesome song.
For the past 8 hours I've been sitting at my desk working. After I listened to this song for the first time I moved the curtains, opened the window, hit replay - and started to dance.
One of the greatest songs ever written, bravo!
The lyrics are so spot on.
That is so fragile , I am crying so much. So often something on Craig Ferguson's show will make me emotional.
Most beautiful love song, written by a comedian and sung by a puppet. Yet, I love it a decade later.
This makes me smile every time I watch it. Definitely one of my go to's to keep spirits up through this Covid disaster.
How could they leave out the best parts?! If I see Van Hellsing I swear to the Lord I will slay him! Hahaha
You missed the part about decapitating him, too.
One of my favorite lines
Right! I missed it the first 20 times I listened to this but have come to love this version even more!
Die, die, die. I cant...
Years later and i still come back to listen, thanks Jason.. great new show on amc
Well edited from the late show. Segel's creation and performance are great but pay attention to the lyrics. The best love poem I have ever heard. So romantic!
i keep on stumbling across this every year or so and remembering that it is one of the best ove songs i have heard.
jason segle is a genius
How do you get TH-cam to repeat a video over and over again? I'm tired of clicking "replay" every few minutes.
It's such a beautiful and amazing song, I just want to listen to it continuously on repeat forever.
+maile malin this!!!!!!!!!
stupid song
maybe you know it already but if you don't, right click and hit "loop"
I think there is a loop feature now. Tap the screen, a menu appears, tap loop. Four years later, I hope this helps, but I am sure you have discovered the loop feature by now. LOL.
You can also add it to a playlist and then put the playlist on loop if you want variety
had to download this as I'm affraid to lose it..it's precious!!!
Oh my god I'm back here 6 years later! Still rockin to this song
13 years later. while most nostalgic forms of media i find crippling. theres still some sort of comfort to this.
Does anybody else feel this song on a deeper meaning. Those lyrics hit so close to home.
Yes yes they do!
The perfect man doesn't exi--
Jason Segal: "am I a joke to you?!"
This should definitely be made into a real play. It's one musical that I would actually want to watch.
If I ever get married I'm singing this at my wedding
So that's never going to happen.
Did you get married, bro?
@@espyh2o Damn I forgot all about this. I am married now and my wife would have completely loved it if I sung this (or anything really). She absolutely loves musicals and we had several songs from musicals play during our reception so I totally could have pulled this off. Well as long as it was towards the end of the night so I had enough drinks in me to not care what people would have thought about my terrible singing.
I can'tbelieve I forgot. That would have been so awesome and would have made a perfect night even better.
Talking Heads slash U2, incredible build. Never sad when I hear this.
One of the most underrated songs of all time. Hits home everytime. Thank you, Jason.
@joannajean "this was their performance on the 1000th episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." - it's in the description.
I loved this song 10 seconds in. It's instantly addictive.
I will get married to this song.
+Crystal Way I did. I used these lyrics as my vows! past tense for the first part
Sheri E I would gladly, sight unseen, marry you to this song
Make sure puppet Dracula is singing it....
Williambarela did you get married?
did it happen yet??!
Beautiful. Tears. Thank you.
Been listening to this way to much....
I keep playing this over and over and smile. Love it and love Jason. Joan
This is actually something Jason Segel was working on on his own before FSM and he put it so he could finally have a way to do the song lol.
Lyrics:
Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha, Ah ha ha ha ha ha ha..
It's getting kind of hard to believe things are going to get better,
I've been drowning too long to believe that the times going to turn.
And I’ve been living too hard to believe things are going to get easier now,
I'm still trying to shake off the pain from the lessons I've learned.
I sang this song to my wife on our wedding almost ten years ago❤.
No way! PLAYA!
Oh my gosh, he's so adorable. And the way he's looking at the puppet is really cute.
How did this arrangement not hit the airways ??🎃
This is one of the sweetest love songs ever
I wonder if he knows how impactful this would be 13 years later
What a f**king song. This is incredible. Best song never released
I love this. Randomly popped into my head today.
I still want to see this play…
I think I've watched this fifteen times today.
Jason Segel is an excellent songwriter. Honestly the Infant Sorrow "album" from Get Him to the Greek (which he composed most of) is a FANTASTIC album.
Will you come for my bangers…my beans and mash?
And Little Bird stay in my rotation all these years later
Still...a long time, i'm still playing this video every single day... "Loving you this long has made me believe it's forever...ohh my love..."
The drums on the track sound amazing
He was working on it, BEFORE FSM! It was great that they included it in the film. It really worked for the character.
Whenever I’m sad I listen to this
Jason is amazing.
Saw this on Craig Ferguson so many years ago. Thanked myself that night for staying up and watching. I love it.
Jason needs to just write a romantic musical about Dracula - no need for puppets or comedy - This is marvelous.
2017 who is still listening to this great songs
2019
2019 bro
2019 for sure! Still watch the forgetting sarah marshall scene which is superb
2020
2020 and I activately searched it out after watching the last episode of Dispatches From Elsewhere.
Great show Jason your awesome my buddy
hard to believe still Looking up in 2018 !!
All of you laughing at this and I find it very romantic. Love this song sooooo much. Jason Segel you are so freakin' talented! :]
Here we go!
Majorly underrated.
wau, uploaded a deacade ago.. I still remember when the movie came out and I had to watch it (on DVD) like a thousand times...and I love the lyrics to this sonG!
When i Speak your name i can feel that I've said something sacred. While saints pray for heaven i thank God I'm already there. Damn. Did Jason ever Record this version?
Aaron Schofner 👏👍💯🎶
Lovin this song and this talented young man Jason Segal.
Legend!!!
Wedding song sorted
exactly my thought all these years
I hate weddings, I would actually want to come to yours.
@@chendaddy IL let you know if I ever get married 🙂
@@RubinRudeboyCarter did you get married mate? Just wondered if you had chance to use the song? 😂
@@TheComedyColosseum na mate
Just too good! My favourite Sesame Street character of all time singing such a strong song, a lament. Very beautiful! Very well done!
2019 and still a good song
I was praying this would be on TH-cam. I saw it when it was on and have been dying to see it again. Completely cool. Thanks for posting this.
Awesome, excellent and addictive.......
2021 and I still need this musical
You’re awesome, crazy vampire musical dude.
A pure love song.
I will learn to sing and sing this to my love.
Sounds like the 80's. I love it.
I already loved the song in the movie but it was so short. Now this is my new favorite song, and I hope to God Jason does the Dracula Musical and comes to my city!!!
Outstanding!!!
it can't die if you keep bringing it back
First time I saw the movie that's what came to my mind. A show I would definitely go and see
Beautiful love song. I love the whole video, including the background vocal.
Sounds precisely like a fantastic Peter Gabriel song.
wich one?
Holy shit you're right
@@lucasgandaravega2995 He's either referring to Moribund the Burgermeister or he's just saying in general it sounds like something Peter Gabriel would write, I'm not sure.
The power of Craig Ferguson! Bring him back!!!!
after having been broken up with my longtime girlfriend for more than a month and a half now, this song is literally the only thing that cheers me up besides other people.
The greatest song ever sung by a puppet, period!
Background vocals absolutely slaying
I don't know if it's because of my period or whatever but when I heard this during the movie, I actually teared up.
This hits hard.
I would so go to the theatre to see this.
awesome
Me too
