    I say with every ounce of Awe and Love, Crystal Skull is my favorite! It's like a warm blanket with hot chocolate. It's got psychics, aliens, Cold War intrigue. Holy Grail is a close second. Not only does it clearly name the true God, it has the most evil Nazis of the franchise. The series made me fall in love with archaeology, history and mythology. Love your video

    Controversial opinion here but I actually quite enjoyed the Kingdom of the crystal skull.
    The cinema experience was pretty amazing for it, that bit where indi finds himself in nuketown, my friends were all looking confused as to what the mannequins were about and I got to show off my own knowledge several times, "it's a nuclear test site" I said. Then the countdown started... 10....9.... I had goosebumps! Can you imagine being in that situation, knowing your 10 seconds from instant death? I immediately turned to my friends and said "Get in the fridge!!!" Knowing old 50s US fridges were heavy duty and had a latching system, it was the only sane choice to make in that scenario, Though Id still wager on being dead. THEN HE DID GET IN THE FRIDGE!!! hahahaha and my friends all turned to me as one with an amaze face. :)
    The majority of the movie was poor and Lebeof's character was awful admittedly, but I enjoyed the extraterrestrial aspect to it too.

      It liked the plot but I thought it was executed poorly. Cheesyness oozed out from the CGI elements at every turn. All the other movies did fantastically with out cheaping out in this way.
      I also know how good of an actor Shia is but he over played his role as a 50s greaser, I think if he had relaxed a bit and been himself that he would of fit the role much better.
      As for the main antagonist I liked her purpose of wanting more knowledge but they were already in Area 51 and could have had their pick of countless crazy bits of history and knowledge but they went after these skulls instead of just getting a crate with a full completed secret history.

      There's more! There are reasons for choosing Brazilian waterfalls. The idea is "focus on the frontiers". Though such waterfalls are shared by Argentina and Chile, it's about the real Akator / Akakor between Brazil and Peru called PAITITI. And other stuff I briefly explained during a fistful of minutes right here

    As a big fan of this channel, its predecessor and Robin Reads I came back to this video. I just re-watched the first 4 films because at time of me writing this the 5th film is coming out in week. As a kid I watched the first 3 films so many times I almost memorized them and I saw the 4th one in the theaters and originally didn’t like it. But now after watching all of them I actually appreciate it. I have doubts on the 5th one though, as Harrison Ford is 80 (although I watched 1923 and he still moves in that) and there are to many polarizing issues in films nowadays it’s hard to make one enjoyable for a larger audience.

    Indy 5 was great, but it could be legendary as the old trilogy if it was better handled. The idea of time travel proved to be a great idea, but was not much well conducted... Deep respect for your profound knowledge of the Indiana Jones series. As for the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I enjoyed most of the characters, the story, the spirit of Indiana movies was well preserved, but was disappointed with Spielberg's direction, with that appalling light which drags throughout all of his movies since Saving Private Ryan and dreadful cgi which reflects the lack of dedication by the creators - the vivid, authentic locations which made the original trilogy a movie making masterpiece were gone. I found Indiana's character arc to be directly connected to the passing of time, rather that one of a loss; the loss was a consequence of the passage of time. And they tried to present us with the things Indie still had after the world had changed and him growing old: integrity, defiance, perseverance, love for science, dedication to the people he cared for and the knowledge he accumulated throughout his life. Unfortunately I can't say they managed in achieving those character goals either, not clearly at least. It all felt rushed and sloppy. In view of the abysmal state movie industry is in at the present it as an above average, enjoyable movie. Lets just hope Indiana Jones 5 won't fall victim to these political, ludicrous cringe worthy trends Hollywood has been drowning itself into for the past couple of years. However, despite Mangold directing (he is a great director), I'm afraid freaks behind the production will destroy Indie in a gruesome, abominable way we can't even imagine. Maybe The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will be looked upon differently then.

      Thanks @Zed 1212! I agree with your description of KOTC. I watched it again last week and there is a weird fakeness to it all - even the scenes shot in a real jungle look strangely flat. I don't know if that was partly deliberate by Janusz Kaminski or whether it's just another flaw to note on the list. Still, it's above average!

  • @kriff10

    Its interesting review that I really enjoyed, but I completely disagree. KOTCS is a great movie and it is more then comparable with the other films. I am a fan of all the movies and I must say that it bothers me when you dig so hard to find problems with KOTCS when there really isn't one.

    I think of Crystal Skulls could be the start of an "old age trilogy" in which he gradually comes to terms with the fact that he's no longer the young man he once was. Maybe the last film could end with a recreation of the first scene of Young Indiana Jones.

    Actually, there's only one thing I want to see in Indi 5, creating a focus on another character, who then will continue the franchise. For example Marion. What did she do before and after Raiders? Lots of potential there. Though you'd need an actress with that voice. A lot of movies and series do so pointlessly. But the Indi-verse is so filled with cool side characters we want to know more about and has a huge world still left unexplored. I wouldn't even mind someone on the wrong side, being in a bad spot between pursuing career but having to team up with the baddies and not really supporting the pipedreams of a failed austrian painter.

    • @JustInteresting
      @JustInteresting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Similar to a cinematic universe of different characters we could follow? I like the idea of a semi-villainous character who struggles to be good.

    Crystal skull is rubbish because it seemed to be a mixture of previous Lucas Spielberg films, not an indiana jones film. Its starts of like American Graffiti, (elvis presley music etc), then at the end it turns into E.T. and Close Encounters, i.e. E.T. would never had popped out of the Ark of the Covenant. Unfortunately that sort of rubbish happened at the end of Crystal Skull. The problem with the movie is encapsulated in a shot at the end in which Indy looks at a big spaceship ascending. Is that an Indiana Jones movie or is it Close Encounters of the the third kind?
