My only issue with the designs is that there isn't a lot to really set the characters apart especially with the male designs. I'm not sure if I'm the only one thinking this, but I was somewhat disappointed when I saw a lot of the designs for the characters.
I also was thinking this. I will give them props/credit for actually making a male character who both actually looks wayyyy older than his early-mid 20s compared to other similar games (the most obvious comparison to make being Genshin) at least + also have facial hair which is also seemingly rare in these kind of games but... Other than that yeah none of the other males look or feel unique at all. (Aside from the Lion boy at the very beginning of the vid but ngl I assumed he was female at first 😭 He's not that unique either but he's kinda cute tho ig.) None of the females really wow'd me either. I'm still excited for this game though actual gameplay-wise and only just hope that we'll see more unique newer character designs in the future... And if any of them will have interesting-enough personalities to make me care about any of them as actual characters outside of their designs in the actual story/lore lol.

I really wish Verina (earlier known as Jueyuan) didn't get yet another redesign. The previous one was perfect :( She had a slight mature feel to her, and the deep turquoise and violet accents looked great.
Actually the opposite for me. Hated her technical test outfit, liked her cbt1 outfit, love her cbt2. I think it’s the going all in the with the flower motif that got me.
Idk why but I'm not the biggest fan of the character designs. For one, I think all the attractive male characters look too similar (the tall ones with long hair) and some of the female characters' jiggle physics are a bit over the top😬 I've seen the gameplay though and it looks promising.

Yeah I agree, I feel like the male color palettes are all kind of similar. The random cutouts in some of the female outfits are kind of throwing me off? Like I get they want exposed skin for fanservice and whatever but I feel like there's a way to do that, the way the cutouts are placed in some designs (like the girl w black hair and a blue outfit) just end up making the design feel bland imo. I do think the hairstyles/faces are cool though, my fav design is probably the last one!

I wouldn’t say their designs are bad, i like them, they just all kinda seem similar. The lion boy, girl with tassels/grey hair, and demon child all look cool because they sort of stand out. Sorry for using a hoyo game to compare, but I do think that Star Rail does a great job at good designs that stand out. With this, each one is unique but all of them seem like they’re been done before; I’m getting a lot of deja vu. I think more variations in clothing styles and color palettes would make it better. I still think the map design is beautiful! excited for that!!

Funny enough, Genshin is so universally liked because their character designs rarely over sexualize a character and their jiggle physics are very tame in the gacha market. It gives it a very family friendly appeal which means a large demographic can enjoy the designs without having weird looks when cosplaying them or having drawings of them in public

Wuthering Waves is DEFINITELY meant to mimic Genshin and piggyback off of its popularity. It's an open-world 3D anime-style gacha game featuring 4* and 5* characters, and presumably weapons too. Look at the character screen at the very beginning before they open up the character list, it looks like Genshin's and Star Rail's mixed together. I don't think that's a bad thing btw, new games always come out in response to new massively popular games. That's how its always been, and that's a good thing, since it provides us with more options and forces games to listen to our criticism if they want to keep players. (Something Genshin in particular needs is a reason to FINALLY listen to us...) So I think this could be really good, since there aren't really any other worthwhile non-HYV games that are quite like Genshin. I'm excited ngl. It doesn't look like a low-budget low-effort copy like that Neverland thing. Can't say I like all the character designs (or the jiggle physics... 💀) but many are still neat, and I've seen screenshots of upcoming locations and the game is gorgeous!! I'll definitely try it when it comes out.
Genshin will always have a special place in my heart but boi i cant wait to try this game!! The character designs are superb and aren’t restricted at all!! I’m hoping tho that we get more of different body types and playable humanoid creatures in the future!

I love this. The only thing i hope for is to make the long white haired man more handsome. Something makes his face not that good looking. Maybe the eyebrow or eyes. But I love the design of his clothes and his hair. Like wow. And the children look so cute.
Honestly the characters are kind of underwhelming, the male characters are too similar, all the characters have way too much gray on them to the point it becomes repetitive, the chest physics on the female characters are just ridiculous especially on the pink haired girl, and they don't seem interesting But thats just my personal opinion, the combat is fun though
These characters look genetic.. why genshin design stand out is because each character design are partly inspired from real life culture. We can see this in Inazuma and Liuye character design,the character actually look Chinese and Japanese and you can tell what culture they're inspired from (if you're a nerd) even someone like faruzan,her outfit is actually inspired by glass art or something I forgot but it fit her personality and her job. The problem with WW design is they're just simple fantasy setting outfit that we can see in anime. If we give it FGO design then it would look better. This is just design wise. I'm sure some people like the design but it the truth that compare to other anime games in general,not just genshin. It not the best I might understand the devs perspective here,they are focusing on combat more than character design. It hard to focus on multiple project I won't play,since it is not available on playstation 4 so there is that

It might be better but genshin player even former one will constantly be screaming anything about this game. As a Genshin player who doesn't plan to play this game due to workload, please still refrain from comparing the two games or even claiming that Wuthering Waves copied Genshin. I would like to remind everyone that Chinese culture is Chinese culture, and Genshin didn't technically invent xianxia/anime. Even if I won't play this game any time soon, it looks good and does not look like Tower of Fantasy failure.

@@Ilivedbruhas someone who claims to be a woman with big boobs, you would think you'd know that the cup size is irrelevant to the heave, fullness and the shape of the breast. small boobs can jiggle just as much. and if you do truly have big boobs, then you would know they don't float like this, but get pulled down, since gravity exists. you can't have a perfectly round perky boob and jiggle like that at the same time on the breast of that size.

Funny enough, Genshin is so universally liked because their character designs rarely over sexualize a character and their jiggle physics are very tame in the gacha market. It gives it a very family friendly appeal which means a large demographic can enjoy the designs without having weird looks when cosplaying them or having drawings of them in public
Now for big beefy men to make an appearance too and all shall be balanced

Wuthering Waves is DEFINITELY meant to mimic Genshin and piggyback off of its popularity. It's an open-world 3D anime-style gacha game featuring 4* and 5* characters, and presumably weapons too. Look at the character screen at the very beginning before they open up the character list, it looks like Genshin's and Star Rail's mixed together. I don't think that's a bad thing btw, new games always come out in response to new massively popular games. That's how its always been, and that's a good thing, since it provides us with more options and forces games to listen to our criticism if they want to keep players. (Something Genshin in particular needs is a reason to FINALLY listen to us...) So I think this could be really good, since there aren't really any other worthwhile non-HYV games that are quite like Genshin.
I'm excited ngl. It doesn't look like a low-budget low-effort copy like that Neverland thing. Can't say I like all the character designs (or the jiggle physics... 💀) but many are still neat, and I've seen screenshots of upcoming locations and the game is gorgeous!! I'll definitely try it when it comes out.

Honestly the characters are kind of underwhelming, the male characters are too similar, all the characters have way too much gray on them to the point it becomes repetitive, the chest physics on the female characters are just ridiculous especially on the pink haired girl, and they don't seem interesting
But thats just my personal opinion, the combat is fun though

These characters look genetic.. why genshin design stand out is because each character design are partly inspired from real life culture. We can see this in Inazuma and Liuye character design,the character actually look Chinese and Japanese and you can tell what culture they're inspired from (if you're a nerd) even someone like faruzan,her outfit is actually inspired by glass art or something I forgot but it fit her personality and her job. The problem with WW design is they're just simple fantasy setting outfit that we can see in anime. If we give it FGO design then it would look better. This is just design wise. I'm sure some people like the design but it the truth that compare to other anime games in general,not just genshin. It not the best

As a Genshin player who doesn't plan to play this game due to workload, please still refrain from comparing the two games or even claiming that Wuthering Waves copied Genshin. I would like to remind everyone that Chinese culture is Chinese culture, and Genshin didn't technically invent xianxia/anime. Even if I won't play this game any time soon, it looks good and does not look like Tower of Fantasy failure.
