You and your fellow railroaders are the lifeblood of your railroad, just like it is the lifeblood of the communities it serves. Switch cars at industries. Keep people moving while running local passenger trains. Run trains with a purpose in transition era Appalachia - in Railroader!
1500 tons and what do you get?
Another day older ad deeper in debt.
St. Peter don't you calk me cause I can't go
I owe my soul to the company store..
Al is a great engineer but he’s a proper union-man. He ain’t getting no switches or lacing no hoses😊

Instead of working Ela in both directions, I’ve started back-hauling my Ela setouts to Bryson. I marshal them on the head end of my return train, and work Ela in that direction only. No pooint stopping that big heavy train twice! I still haven’t made enough Bryson trips to figure out the best way to switch out all thise industries, so I’m looking forward to seeing how you do yours!
The class 1 stages the train perfectly, so switching Bryson was a breeze, at least on my first trip. That video should be out Monday
what I've started doing too, especially if it's Ela Farm Supply, delivering there is a hassle
Just found your channel. Enjoying the amiable narration. Yep, pay no mind to the folks who grumble about your switching moves or operations methods. They just need to remember that it was a learning process for them as well. It's your rodeo, ride 'em the way you want to.
Welcome aboard and thanks for watching
FYI the Mogul, and the Ten Wheeler are more Mix traffic engines. the Atlantic and Pacific are your Passenger engines, the consolidations, decapod, mikatos are freight, and the berkshire is your top of the line engine for this one and is also a mix traffic.
white marker means that the train is not scheduled, green maker means that the train is scheduled and its the head end, red means the rear end
If you've taken a tier 3 on the heating oil bear in mind that you'll inevitably end up with 2-3 tank cars in that siding and of course it will be the one at the end of the track that you need to get out to send back. Fun times :)
Fortunately Hollifield can accommodate 3 tank cars.
If you shift click the knuckle it will open the coupler and close the valves while leaving the air line connected which will then disconnect when you pull away.
Yep. Sometimes, I'll manually set the anglecocks so it doesn't bottle the air.
In my game my passenger efficiency dropped from 100% to 70%. I only had the starter passenger car and was leaving passengers behind. I chalked it up to that. I bought the 1915 (84 pass) and haven't had a run yet where either car was more than 50% full from Whittier - Bryson. But when I was no longer leaving people behind my pass efficiently was back up to 100% in 2 days. So I only do,at most, 2 passenger runs per day between Whittier - Bryson, return. So far
I have a three coach service and run trains on the hour in the morning, one at noon, and then on the hour at 3,4, and 5. A select service will run at 6 if needed. The passenger service pays for the fuel it uses and its crew and upkeep this way.
I wonder if he failed to stop his train in time and ran the fusee and after running through it then he said oh look no fusee anymore, highball.
Been there had that happen
The air compressor on most of the engines are single stage or single piston pumps. The sounds in the game are for cross compound, or two piston pumps. They both have a very distinct sound from each other.
Looks like you’ve found a bit of wheelslip. If you look at the type of locomotive it should tell you how much tractive effort it has, thus how much it can pull at most on flat ground.
The small hill to the machine shop in Whittier is enough to let the oil cars free wheel all the way to the spotting for the oil company. No going to lie, never thought about running around like that.
Enjoyable as always Kerbo, thank you. I'm just behind you in my own game. Enjoying it immensely. Sometimes remembering to use the horn/whistle "the right" way, but hey ho I also sometimes shift-click the thingy, anglecocks?!? and sometimes shifting the cars 1st person and sometimes not. Each to his own, right! - Latest part of the comment, just because I don't really get the TH-cam police. It is a game right? It is for fun or what?
There is definitely a small grade at ela towards Bryson. I kicked two cars into the siding and tp to the other loco for a moment and when I came back the cars that were stopped disappeared.. at first I thought it was a bug but then I checked and they rolled all the way to the bridge site and back into a sweet spot where they stayed put.. major inconvenience lol
The physics seem quite good. Things don't stay put on a grade if they're stopped like in RRO
another great video i going into hospital for surgery removal of bladder prostate and bowel recovery of 8 weeks so i will have to catch up with your videos then merry xmas mate
Merry Christmas and wishing you a speedy recovery
I believe the Strasburg uses a 2-6-0 in freight service on occasion.
Albert Ingram? Al driving the trains again... So First is Albert, next must be Andrew Impmeister? Then Alex Impericus?
Bryson bound and down, loaded up and chuggin'.
A-we gonna do what they say can't be done with this little Mogul
Long way to go and a short time to get there. We're Bryson bound, look at Ole Mogel chug! 😂
I lil warning suggest to get the observer car to get the extra 20% from pass ergers and also cause the wye in Bryson can only fit 3 cars +loco and I recently got rid of the starter ten wheeler for the loggong makkedo
The observation car is a large expense for very little gain, so it is not in the plan right now
Is it only the observation car passengers that get an extra 20%, or does the bonus apply to all passengers on the train?
@@AlexA-qy1bz I believe it is for all fares
@@AlexA-qy1bz applys to all passengers
Wow I think this the most comments I ever seen on a Kerbo video! I just finished the bridge on my game but I unlocked the line to Sylvia maybe two days ago. Didn't want to expand too fast so only did passenger runs my first day. Between Elda and Sylvia I can make about $450 per round trip. I'm still running the starter engines, good to know I don't need to upgrade just yet lol. Also why this video only 720p?
People are loving Railroader and so am I
CLOSE THE CYLINDER DRAINCOCKS!!! lol :P
I'm debating whether i want to get a switch engine for bryson or a dedicated passenger engine like the big ten wheeler or atlantic.
I've opened the line up to Bryson and plan on adding CTC before i expand any further.
That is one sturdy Mogul
Yes, it is doing quite well
I’m somewhat new to steam engines, but why do you sometimes I have the reverser 3/4s of the way engaged with some throttle? Is there a specific power difference?
On a real locomotive the reverse changes the valve timing for greater power or more efficiency. This is somewhat modelled in Railroader. When starting out you want the reverser at full, but as you speed up it's brought back towards the center for less steam and thus more efficiency. There's more detail about the real thing here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reversing_gear
@@KerboOnYT Ah that makes sense! Thanks for the reply and keep up the great work
The FRR is coming along well. Wonder when the llnext locomotive will make a debate
Edit: how'd you get the anglecocks to automatically open
I assume you meant debut and autocorrect picked debate. I'm keeping FRR in the black but will eventually expand the locomotive fleet.
If you shift-click on couplers or gladhands, it will automatically set both anglecocks
@@KerboOnYT yes I did mean debut. And that's good to know. Really loving watching you play and managing my own at the same time.
I wonder if the momentum pushed AI past the fusee because he didnt get it stopped in time.
It could be. That's quite a load for the Mogul
You should did double header
I don’t know how you played all this time with no game stopping bugs. I have played it on two different computers and always hit a major bug within the first 3 days. The latest was my Mogal thinking the Tenders hand break was on.
I've played since a week before release with no big bugs. It's easy to have the wrong rolling stock selected in the inspector window, so make sure you're looking at what you expect. I get locos mixed up sometimes, as you'll see in my videos.
I have checked and triple checked. Also had the AI run away with the train. It wouldn’t let me change it back to manual. Also after hauling the 10 Wheeler to get the coal and water I couldn’t uncouple the two locos.
@killmouseky4740 Strange. Have you reported these issues on Discord? There's a link in the video description
No real point in getting a fast loco for passenger service, as the safe speed limit is 35 anyway
You sure seem to be a glutton for punishment lol
I have a friend who thought it was risky running about 1200 tons towards Bryson with the logging tender mikado, and you’ve soundly gone further with this attempt
The Mogul did just fine 🙂
Indeed it did. After switching out Bryson, though, we have a pair of million-dollar questions: how heavy will the train back to Whittier be, and can the mogul handle the return train going up the grade it just came down?
Should be entertaining; can’t wait!
P.S. I was wrong about my friend; they actually did *1900* tons from Whittier to Bryson with the logging Mikado. 1500 is still nothing to sneeze at with the starter engine tho
Really should have run the load with 2 locos
Why? That would have been a waste since the G-16 pulled it just fine
@@KerboOnYT would have been a perfect opportunity to try it out
