Notice how smartly dressed and well groomed literally everyone in this video is. These were the 70s working classes, and despite not having to shillings to rub together, they still made sure they were presentable before leaving the house. I think this was the last decade where people took pride in their appearance.
@@abdurahmanmohamed3378 ....with your ' name ', I can tell it would be a total waste of time to even begin , trying to explain, why are you even on this channel, ' salami and bacon'?
I lived in sudbourne Road Brixton in 1975-79 was 18 yo. Rent was £5 a week, we were 3 in the same room.Wages was £30 a week at the Savoy hotel. I was kind of hoping to see myself unfortunately not.
This brings back memories of visiting my African-Caribbean, Jamaican, and Guyanese family in London during the '70s, especially going to Carnival. This perfectly captures what it was like back then. Bravo for sharing this!
Boy… rough times back then. But No killing and stabbing our own people. We seem to have lost our identity, Our own individual cultural style and heritage. Just take our women For example. Minimal cosmetics and appendages, like eyelashes, nails weaves, push up bra. We certainly have embraced uk culture. And at what price ?
@@mayena The video is very good but it didn’t show how mixed Brixton was. It definitely wasn’t a predominately black neighbourhood in the 60s & 70s. How do I know ? I was born in Brixton in 1968 and lived there until 1996. It was very cool in the 90s, lots of things to do. After Covid it definitely needs more investment from the government but that’s unlikely to happen
@@kyrokyro2343 Thanks kyro kyro. I did find the Step Forward Youth track and it is actually by Prince Jazzbo. The version in the video sounds like the original. Brilliant song. Cheers.

Wow look how we used to be so connected to ourselves. Makes me wanna cry seeing this footage.
Yeah, more united. It makes me want to cry because today is a stark contrast.
😎🥰
I am crying. London has been colonised. We British will recover

Beautiful and natural, not one weave in sight!!
Omg,that's the first thing I thought. Why do most black women wear them so badly. Our natural hair is versatile enough to create many styles.
@@skyepalmer5719 There's nothing wrong with wearing weaves. Black women are constantly policed for what they choose to do.

Amazing ! A predominantly black neighbourhood, and none of the shops appear to have been done over !
Brixton was never a predominately ‘Black’ neighbourhood. It did form a plurality never a majority.
