@@ZymixProductions Seriously people, if all you know him as is the "huge honor for me" guy, go back and watch some of his matches. Absolute beast of a pressure passer.
The face on my bigger blue belt friend who likes to double under pass was priceless when I locked this on. Didn't finish but managed to reguard and made for a good laugh
"Short judo guy". Exactly the description of my old judo coach, and he loved this joke. Amazing guy on the ground, a groundwork style full of organized traps in every situations. Excellent video by the way 👍
This is a wicked good choke, if you are a more defensive guy, it really quickly became my insurance when playing guard against really fast, aggressive guys, who typically just push my legs aside, and jump into side control.
Magid is one of the coolest guys in Jiu-Jitsu. Probably doesn't even remember but I trained with him a few times when he was an early black belt and I was just a blue belt. Super down to earth guy and super helpful. He was like a 19 year old black belt too.
People don’t want to tap because it gives them the illusion that they are passing. By the time they realize what is going on, they are just waking up. It’s a solid choke. But it can be risky against someone who knows how to defend it. I enjoy it.
I love this choke. I’ve found that my finish rate has gone down when my opponent pressures forward over my head. It stretches my arms out straight which seems to loosen the grips
Just got put to sleep by this choke on my first Jiu-Jitsu match ever yesterday. By the time I realized I was getting choked it was already tight and when I tried to do something I was already sleeping on the mat.
Very nice choke! I'll definitely add this to my arsenal and try it when I'm rolling with higher belts.. what would be my opponents attacks from me putting my grip holds in? What should I look for when I need to let go and retain closed guard? Any help would be greatly appreciated
wooow such an amazing grip, cannot wait to try it out during the rolls! and the story about being kid is so nice! magid is a good guy, i listen and watch videos with him, seems like he has so much bright and positive energy, and he shares it with the world. thank you bernardo for having such amazibg guests and not just show the technique but also do a bit of interesting bjj talk 🫂💖
@@dontspeak2994 It has. I love the choke and that variations that Magid sets it up always impress me. I would say I can land it in my gym when folks know it's my go to 60% of the time. Thats good odds when everyone knows it's coming IMHO.
@@ptrainingbytim youre welcome! Its the exact same way. So if youre in the position like in the thumbnail that your opponent is on your left side...you slide your left hand in 1st PALM FACING UP. Then your right hand on your other side palm down. S-grip your hands, begin to squeeze and walk your feet away from your opponent 😊
Could bernardo not put his left hand on the inside of Magi'ds right eldbow to release pressure until Bernardo hops over in a clockwise direction to get out of it ?
He showed this little gem to the Bear's Den long ago. I have seen several people put to sleep with it. Even people that thought it was their signature move. Nap time!
Theres a version without a shirt where you interlace your fingers (no gi baseball choke) but i highly suggest to approach it from a sport/roll jiu jitsu perspective, not self-defense. Its one of those cheeky hail marys to catch people
There's a no gi variant where you interlace fingers. Its not as tight, but it works. Then again this is a sport instructional, dont use this as first priority in mma/ non bjj combat
I'm hoping these videos will help me. Due to family and work I can only go to 1 or 2 classes a week where the other students go to 4-6 classes a week. I feel so far behind. On top of that I'm small suffering from sciatic pain. It's all very frustrating.
Bernardo is such a wholesome man
Huge honor to him! 😁

Bernardo is a sweet polite murderer
He has bodies in his closet.
Gay tho 😊
Don't forget how good faria is. He doesn't show his own skills, but the guy is a world champion. That's huge. You have to beat everybody.
Not only that but that over/under pass was his signature technique.
Of course

I’m learning this to surprise those particular training partners who treat me like a doormat.
Any luck? I went to try out a new gym and a moody upper belt picked me out to roll and I tapped him with this :D

If the so called "baseball bat choke" is allowed, might as well is strangling with the hands 🤗👌👍

Wow what an excellent demo and his questions are on point. What to improve on grip, using row machine, practice grip and strength. Powerful video.
Man I love this one - maybe my fav Bernardo / BJJ Fanatics!
Awesome!! Thank you. Maybe some techniques from no Gi also? Thanks

Is Magid left handed, or is she showing it that way for the camera?
does this work with regular shirts? or if someone has no shirt?

what do you do if the shirt rips or the shirt comes off and theres no material to grab

How could this choke be applied in a no gi situation?
I think he passed out Clark Gracie with this a few years back.

How is this any different than the way people have been doing it for years?
Just tried it tonight, have to build up finger strength. Fingers are sore 😂
May I suggest?
You curl your finger grip...rolling gi under your fingerprints...using no thumb and then you know you have grip...its all in fingers.
It is amazing! In 2021 you can literally make money shooting videos on how to discover the hot water!
Basically when he gets the grip it's just like a shark or crocodile that bites and never let go.

Just imagine you could train a chimp to do BJJ considering they can use their foots as hands literally.
Is that Penny?
Once a guy slept in mount position on him .

Damn with hands that big how could he ever lose as a striker?
is the baseball choke legal for kids in ibjjf?
