You're a pro rider, aren't ya! Great vid, that thing rips. I was expecting it to go into limp mode at some point, but it kept on charging the field. Wow!
Id be very curious about the torque/power ratings on that electric bike vs the combustion engine ones. Also how long can one run on a tank or fuel vs this one on its battery charge. Looks like a ripper. Good job!
Battery comes out.. as many battery’s as you have. Pretty sure if racing they’d have 10+ battery’s. They only about about a hour or less to charge. Look up surron it’s literally this but street legal lol as I’m %1000 whatever motor / battery combo he’s running wouldn’t be street legal XD
Electric bikes would be cool but the battery only lets you have fun for about an hour, maybe more if you mod it and you’re good at that shit. Also there’s no way you can charge it up in an hour that would take all night
This bike produces 50hp and 42ftlb of torque at the rear wheel. Battery range depends on many factors like how fast of a rider is on the bike, the type of riding, the dirt condition, etc. In this video i did a 18min+1 lap starting with a full charge and you can see i had about 25% left when i finished. On slower, tighter tracks i can ride longer. This range is plenty for most people as after 20 minutes of pushing hard, most riders are physically tired anyway. Recharging from 25%-100% takes about 75min. Its really not that bad at all. By the time the bike is recharged, im rested and ready to ride another hard moto.

I wonder a couple things about these electric bikes. 1: how does the lipo4 battery hold up long term to the heavy bumps it constantly ensures. 2: lipo4 batteries do not work or charge well and can even break if used in temps above 95 - 100 degrees F or below 35 ish degrees F. 3: what is the charge time for these things, would I need to buy 10 to ride for 8 hours in a day, or would I only need to buy 2-3? 4: can I safely ride through mud and water without worrying about shock or killing my batteries/motor? Getting stranded 20 miles from my car could be a dangerous situation. 5: what are the cost for parts like a new motor, and what is the availability of these parts? If my bike breaks at the track, can I go to the local store and get a replacement, or is my trip finished? - all points need to be addressed before I would ever consider buying electric bike over a gas bike..
That thing is incredibly quick! Sounds like crap though, that being said it’s pretty awesome to eliminate some of the noise pollution - it’s a hard pill to swallow though lol
Man it’s a hard 💊 to swallow “pause” I feel like it’s gonna be the end to a long lived legacy of two and 4 stroke sound 🙏🏾that Mfka quick I think I’m going to get one once they come out with a improved 2 or 3rd gen
I remind to those who don’t understand. Some people love the noise and the added element it brings to the experience. As for racing, this is local level where the rider almost matters more than the bike. At the pro level these Alta bikes can’t compete, especially now that they went out of business.
@Niklaus Crowley If you have the budget for these bikes. The problem comes when you cant afford a new one and the second hand values are regulated by the cost of a new battery, nearly half the cost of a new bike! As the cost comes down, they may be more attractive. Hydrogen cell has yet to be tested....

Get used to this. It's coming big time. E Bikes are going to be a strong marketshare very soon (whether you like it or not.) And The AMA will have to create a pro race class just for E Bikes. (They've already created one for 50cc class.) This is the "new 4-stroke" that most thought would never catch on (in 1998).
The fact that the electric bike outran the four-stroke bike under power is not a product of skill but a product of the electric motor having more torque than the four-stroke. The benefit here is the off the line torque that is superior to the four stroke and the lack of shifting that led to the win.
Wow, lots of people in the comments sure got their shit in a knot. Remember the YZ400F in 98? How fucking loud it was? How many riding areas got shut down due to noise? Can we not just marvel at the possibilities of new riding areas opened up to a virtually silent moto weapon like this one? A motocross race with E bikes could be held next to a tree-hugging, pony riding, mushroom picking hippie commune / spiritual retreat during their meditation session salad buffet and noone would even know. Aside from the odd bright plastic moto spode flying through the air in the background. I think its cool.
Oh wow! This bike even clears most of the landings too! I dont know if i want a 250 or a 450 but it seems like this bike is 250 and 450 in one bike with 4 maps
I’ve wondered about the battery life on these Alta’s as well. Considering we just watch a nearly 20 minute moto I’d say it’s pretty good. Pro Mx Outdoor series does 30 minutes plus 2 laps so I’m sure they’d get at least 1 moto in before having to recharge.
The alta was and still is the ultimate electric dirt bike. I'm excited to see if the starg varg is going to be a rightful successor... cause we all miss the alta dearly
All of the major manufacturers are already working (or already have) on e-bikes. KTM, Husqvarna, gasgas, Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, will all have them soon, some already have them. It is just a matter of time before they take over the market.
Totally awesome e bike riding, shire runs "very snappy fast" love it, low noise no pollution, low maintenance, light weight. Is this an Alta bike? You ride very well!
Love the idea of these. It’ll be interesting how race organizers set up classes by kWh or xxx. It doesn’t make sense to try to have ebikes racing against “similar” sized 2 or 4 strokes.
First, great riding! Next, WOW that thing is fast... I can only imagine how different it must feel being that light and that powerful. And lastly, darn good video. Thanks.
The biggest advantage over the 4 strokes it's a less stressful riding, you can see that at the beginning they overtake each other multiple times but then the fatigue takes over
Will there be an electric charging station in the middle of the Dezert or forest when that thing runs out of power? How do you walk back or get the bike out if you survive the walk out? Thats awesome that some guy can ride as fast or faster than the other bikes on a closed course. Who are the Riders? Are they Equally Experienced? Riding on a closed course, right by where you parked your vehicles to bring the bikes is wayyyyy different than riding 50-100 mile round trip back to the truck. This is awesome. I’ve been in electric vehicles before and the acceleration is unbelievable
Being that this motor is pulling its hardest the lower it is revving, you should be able to leave the corners earlier and turn under anyone. Looks like a blast👍
Electric dirt bike has come a long way ... I can remember when it only beat the gas powered dirt bikes slightly but still lost in the long run. Now it's a whole new animal .
Stark Varg e bike, basically an electromagnetic rotary 2 stroke
You're a pro rider, aren't ya! Great vid, that thing rips. I was expecting it to go into limp mode at some point, but it kept on charging the field. Wow!
This "toy" cant RIP around
this is sad and 2 stroke will never be missed because shel never die

@@catfish_lude well they can “die” but not in the way a battery dies,
This video could have probably kept Alta in business coincidentally
You could buy a fast charger for swap batteries and have a battery system similar to a power tool.. pop out old and pop in the new.

It's not a bad sound, I personally like the electrifying sound of electrons moving!

I remind to those who don’t understand. Some people love the noise and the added element it brings to the experience. As for racing, this is local level where the rider almost matters more than the bike. At the pro level these Alta bikes can’t compete, especially now that they went out of business.

That instant torque out of the turns makes this thing a God
Indeed. I just bought an Ioniq5 AWD and it's got incredible torque as well. Absolutely no wheel spin and pin you in the seat acceleration.

Correct me if I'm wrong but can I still hear the 4 stroke just behind it? Woulds thought the the ebike should be miles ahead.
So funny how so many have been fooled😂
Lets hope the future takes a long time to arrive.

It's not the bike, it's the rider. Amazing skills
But the bike isn't holding him back, that's the point.
@Mike Christian bike good, rider good, everyone happy
@Mike Christian his point is the ebike did'nt destroy the 450s he did he would beat these guys on a stock 125
No shifting helps alot!! Pulls constant
When you're comparing bikes with a small engine.
Well, tbh he's just an amazing rider. a really good rider will beat even a 450 on a 125
The the rider skill is what won this race not the e bike , thanks for the video ,
@Mike Christian ill take my 01 cr 250, or 96 thanks 😊
@Mike Christian but why though? Not everyone believes they are going to 'save the planet'.
Now do an endurance race 😂
I wonder how long the battery lasts at full throttle during a pro moto
I’ve wondered about the battery life on these Alta’s as well. Considering we just watch a nearly 20 minute moto I’d say it’s pretty good. Pro Mx Outdoor series does 30 minutes plus 2 laps so I’m sure they’d get at least 1 moto in before having to recharge.

Do you change batteries after each race or do the batteries charge quick enough?

Love the idea of these. It’ll be interesting how race organizers set up classes by kWh or xxx. It doesn’t make sense to try to have ebikes racing against “similar” sized 2 or 4 strokes.
