My snake neck turtle and I are still getting used to each other.. He/she seems excited when I walk into the room.. Almost like it wants out. So I let him/her freely explore the house an hour after work n I let him bek in his temporary container.. He/she loves fish fillets (bite able size for him)... I've named him buddy ❤❤ n I feed him /her at 6am n 6pm
Where did you get this one bro is this your pet? Captive Bred? Some haven’t been see in wild ten years bro I have two variants of the ten species in the snake necks rock onn
Ok I will do a video on this at somepoint, but there is two ways to do this I have found, this first is to feed the turtle in a separate container , put the pellets in and put tuna water in with it, the smell will make the turtle go mental and it should encourage it to eat a few. The Second way is a bit more risky, don't feed the turtle as much for a few days, basically make it a bit more hungry and then keep offering it pellets. make sure its a variety of pellets mixed in together to encourage the turtle to eat them even more. let me know what you think :)
Bro I got a Darwin snake neck, can’t find too much info on it. Hoping you can help, probably similar to this species here? I love the turtle, it’s a captive bred 2022 hatchling, and it’s so ugly that it’s stinkin cute as hell man… it actually looks the same as this one you have, but smaller of course… I don’t think they are the same species tho…any help on its native environments and habits would be awesome, thanks homie, subbing.
That’s awesome bro, I have always wanted a Darwin! I will do some research and get back to you if that’s ok? Your absolutely right, they looks so weird and wonderful at the same time. If you have any pictures search us up on insta and send us a pic 😊
@@IsaacWiley I don’t have instagram, but I’ll make a video of it and post it up in the next few days k. I’ve looked for info on the Darwin, even the wiki page is just a paragraph long, and not much else besides some for sale ads for em. I was just hoping you had some info in your head already… I gotta find an Australian turtle keeper probably. These snake necks seem to be new to the hobby, at least over here in the states… anyways, thanks for the reply homie, look for my video next week on it.
Ok , I can’t give your personal advise as I’ve never encountered or kept Darwin’s, but I will ask around and see what I can find, a lot of Australian turtles are very mysterious. Just give me a few days. Let me see what I can do my friend😊 and look forward to the video.
Can you do a video on Asian species of box turtles? Ive been looking into getting one but I can’t find anything on them. I can’t get one without knowing anything about them. Even just a website would help.
I haven't any experience with these but ill see what I can find..... does this help?: reptilesmagazine.com/asian-box-turtle-care-tips-and-breeding-notes/
@@IsaacWiley that has helped a lot. I kept looking for the specific locality because sometimes they have completely different requirements depending on locality, but since I haven’t been able to find anything I guess these don’t. Still wanted to double check before I got the turtle so I can give it a long and happy life. This was also a lot more than I was able to find on my own and I’ve been looking for a while. (If it’s relevant or helps, the locality was Sumatran Malayan box turtle)

@@IsaacWiley they work just great! Thanks! Also, I was looking into getting a snake neck but I kept finding conflicting information on cohabitation with other turtles. It was either they get bullied because they can’t protect their necks properly or they out compete other turtles in getting food. Is their any truth to that or does it depend on the species? The turtles I have are a pink belly sideneck (this one seemed to be the least likely to cause problems because afaik their ranges overlap with other snake neck species), a couple of stinkpots, and a Argentine/Geoffrey’s sideneck hybrid. The pond I have them in is a 275 gallon koi pond, but all but one the turtles are less than 2 years old. Though I have a ZooMed grow out turtle tub (20 US gallons). Thanks for the information and recommendations for websites.
Ive had a pet turtle for 30 years, map turtle caught in the wild. Wondering what reaction it would have meeting another turtle after so long, trying to give it a good final 30 with a mate
Awesome, what kind of size tank do you have ? in my opinion just off the bat I wouldn't risk upsetting you current turtle as turtles are solitary and territorial creatures by nature as well as yours has been on its own for a very long time so straight away it could go really down hill quick, however if you are still intent then i would advise extremely close monitoring and a massive tank if not an outdoors pond depending on where you are from, this means they can get away from each other if needs be, they would also have to be similar size and age as if you put in a hatchling then your map would likely eat it ... Let me know your thoughts and feelings but its great you wanna make your turtles life even better :)
@@IsaacWiley i guess i am thinking its been alone in a tank for 30 years and i keep thinking to my self has he gone insane, does he hate me for stealing his life, is introducing a new turtle worse then leaving him be What would i do in a cage for 30 years Is he even smart enough to understand anything outside of a foot infront of him
ahahaha ok I get you, what size tank does your map turtle have? Turtles and tortoises are a lot smarted then most people realise, to the extent they can recognise who there owner is by the voice.
I've had my eastern long neck over 15years. I tried to Intraduced another one but it didn't end well for the smaller one. Your probably better off Interacting with it yourself. I let mine out of his tank. After a cuddle he falls off the lounge or bed and generally moves around the walls back to his tank where he puts himself back In by a ramp I have for him. Live food is good for there exercise and meantal stimulation as well as nutrition.
Turtle Shedding is a natural process, personally I would just leave the peeling skin and shell on and let it come off on its own :) if you pull it off yourself sometimes it can hurt and stress the turtle, its not worth the risk.
Awhh, loved the close up at the end 🐢

Hello I live in austrila and we have them as well
That's awesome, its our job to protect this amazing species, there is also a lot of wonderful freshwater turtles in Australia.
Live fish & shrimp are also very good for long necks & helps them maintain their hunting instincts 😉. Also some turtle salts in the water.

Is it ok to hold wild turtles(to help them from predators, help them cross the road ect.)?
Yes my friend, you can help a turtle from predators and save them from cars, I have a video this Friday about what to do if you find a wild turtle :)

How do you even find this rare of a turtle? Especially in the UK? Nice enclosure btw.
I actually brought the roti island , so was a very lucky find , waited a long time 😊 and thanks mate

Think they all sold out, will have to keep an eye out as they do get some awesome species in, I’m looking into Giba gibas next… 😊😉
don't buy the roti island turtle, its crit endangered. better buy a siebenrocki, they're similiar
The roti island is captive bred here , so won’t affect the wild populations , if anything it could be used to start a new breeding project.
