  • Ash is targeted, Eiji is targeted...*Oprah voice* You get targeted! And YOU get targeted!
Seriously, this episode shows how dangerous Dragon Moon is and has so many ominous implications, especially for Eiji by the end of this...and I'm NOT happy about it!

Ugh, every time I hear the beat drop in this ED it gives me chills. Gorgeous.

It is honestly a BEAUTIFUL ED, and the OP, too! This show just doesn't miss with it's soundtrack and openings/endings!

Them putting Shorter in the second OP just proves this anime wants us depressed TT
Also the art in this ED is so beautiful and peaceful, I still think I prefer the music of the first ED, that was just a whole bop lol, but I still like this one
and regarding Yut Lung, he was gone for the last few episodes... but not for nothing XD he has been silently beginning to execute his revenge. I think it is so interesting how Arthur was jelous of Ash and physically resembelled him; same happens with Yut Lung and Eiji. They look similar, but Yut Lung's hatred comes down to... jelousy. Because he doesn't understand why someone like Ash, who he sees as a parallel to himself (both coming from tragic backgrounds and being young roothless killers), would care for someone like Eiji. He doesn't understand and therefore hates it, wants it banished. I think that for such a long time he has been used and controlled by others that he wants the power, so having something he doesn't understand, and therefore can't control, torments him.

    • @RomaniaBlack
      @RomaniaBlack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

EXACTLY -- Banana Fish can't let us forget Shorter...as if we would! T_T
Yes, the ED and OP are GORGEOUS just like the first set, but man....
That is SUCH a good point to make -- I need to bring that up in a future reaction about how Yut Lung and Arthur were similar designs to Ash and Eiji and perfect counters to them. Yeah, the fact that someone like Eiji, who comes from SUCH a different world than Dragon Moon and Ash, can somehow become so important to Ash confuses Yut-Lung and I can see why he doesn't understand...it just makes the whole thing more and more tragic the longer I think about it...but I just don't want Dragon Moon to hurt Eiji. :(
Thanks so much for the comment!

It's funny how the ending song (Red) has such happy imagery when the lyrics are actually kind of sad. The song is one of my favorites. Yut-Lung is such a wildcard but yeah he really doesn't like Eiji. He sees himself as parallel to Ash (he has either has people who fear him or people who work for him). He doesn't like that Eiji doesn't fit into that equation. Thanks for another reaction!

    • @RomaniaBlack
      @RomaniaBlack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yeah! The lyrics are so sad, but the imagery is so soft and happy -- so deceiving, which is PERFECT for Banana Fish! And I'm sooooo interested in where Eiji and Yut-Lung's relationship will go to in this series, because I agree with your notions here about them. Thank you for the kind words and the comment! :D

  • @Sonjay718

So interesting that Yut-Lung mocks Sing for idolizing Ash, when he actually idolizes Ash himself. He also refuses to Ash as a human being (referring to him as a beast, tiger, etc).
Meanwhile, Yut-Lung mocks Eiji for being useless, but Eiji reminds Ash of his humanity. He's Ash's conscience, in a way.
Re: Yut-Lung's brother: Banana Fish is just used to shut the person down; they don't necessarily need a target the way Shorter did

    • @RomaniaBlack
      @RomaniaBlack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Ooooh, that makes sense that his brother was just "shut down" without a target -- that makes more sense! Kind of like how Griffin was...still...that was so shocking!! And great points about Ash/Eiji/Yut-Lung's dynamic as well! Thank you so much for the comment!

While literally every single one of Banana Fish’s EDs and OPs are perfect, the ED for the second cour is legitimately one of my favorites in all of anime. The song, the visuals-all STUNNING. It is also an ED that I haven’t watched in months because I cry *every single time* . I don’t even have the song for it downloaded, because it’s enough to make me tear up! 😭
All this to say that I rewatched both the ED and OP for this reaction, and, yeah. Nothing like a good sob session to start the day!! LMAO

I've been sent the OST through discord on Patreon, but I haven't listened to it yet...needing a special occasion for all the feels again! But yeah, nothing like an emotional purge to start the day! the lyrics for the new op and ed fit ash and eiji so well it hurts. Also fun fact: the band who sing the 2nd ED also did the first OP! gotta say it's sad when the MCs being separated with one being hospitalised and surviving an assassination attempt counts as a quiet episode...On the other hand yay for Yut lung x Eiji interactions since they have such a contradictory dynamic to everyone else in the show but please let ash and eiji have some happiness...

    • @RomaniaBlack
      @RomaniaBlack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Oooh, the OP/ED are shipping them HARD! They're great, though! :D And that's really cool that it's the same band -- it sounded similar, so I wondered! And HAAAAA, man, when you phrase it like that...Banana Fish's idea of a "quiet episode" really hits home. And yes, I live for the Eiji and Yut Lung interactions, but they also raise my anxiety considerably. I just need Ash and Eiji to reunite...but...it's Banana Fish, so who knows what's in store for me! Thanks so much for the comment!

Not that I don't love the first OP (Love it a lot actually!), but I just love the song in the second OP so much! And every time I watch it, I feel like tearing up... especially because they added Shorter in there 😭
Sing is such a cutie! And a badass one at that! I could be wrong, but I think this was Sing's first time being introduced to Banana Fish when he saw Yut Lung's brother exposed to it. The way he looked so shocked and terrified... It just boggles my mind that Sing is only 14 years old and he's dealing with this drug on top of being a gang leader at such a young age 😥
I've seen all your reactions so far and I felt like I should comment on this one because I really like seeing you react to these episodes :)

T_T Sing has REALLY grown on me, too! I can't believe he's 14, but it kind of fits his inquisitive personality and I really really like his character as this show has developed.

Yut-lung is definitely scary in this episode but I never can't not be happy to see him.
I really like the Yut-lung/Eiji interactions. It feels so different compared to the other ones.

when i first watched this show, it was because my friend recommended it. Like any honorable banana fish fan would've done, she told me this was a slightly gorey romance bl anime with fun little episodes and a cute ending, and i went in waiting for my happy ending. Today, 2 years later, i cry while singing the best song of the year 2018, GET AWAY FROM MEEEEEEEEEEE GET AWAY FROM DARKKKK NIGHTMARE!!
And with the ED, i know Prayer X (old ED) is a bop and all but since i discovered Red (new ED), every time something awful happened in this show (always), i would find myself automatically singing THE STAIN OF REEED THAT COLORS THE PAVEMENTTT PAINTED WITH BLOOD OF SOMEBODY YOU LOVEEE and i find that amazing and a power a lot of songs dont have. The visuals are also so peaceful. I love this half of banana fish episodes.

Interesting that book! Do u think that the writer's gangrene could be parallel to Ash feelings, too? I think a lot of him self-deprecating, and wanting Eiji to hate him enough to go away, could be read as him feeling that he's kinda "rotting" from the inside, you know? Metaphorical gangrene would feel like there's something inside him that is slowly tainting and destroying his being ? Idk.
Romania before the episode "mmh I'm not so nervous, weird right?"
Romania after the new OP 😱😱😱
Romania after the episode "I don't feel so secure anymore... Please please pleeeeeaaase don't hurt me Banana Fish"
Yut-Lung is indeed becoming scarier and scarier, and rewatching the scene with his brother, he looked kinda older to me, don't u think? It's like, going full dark side of the force is literally aging him 😱
Anyway, thanks for ur reaction, happy 2021 too! 🎉

    • @RomaniaBlack
      @RomaniaBlack  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I think there's definitely a parallel; that notion of him "rotting" from the inside is so cool! These book titles have been pretty spot on, so I think there's definitely a correlation, there. And yeeeeep, you nailed my reactions to before the episode, after the OP, and after the episode...I was just feeling "okay" with Banana Fish, but ha ha ha, no more! ^^
And yes, Yut-Lung is getting scarier and dangerous --- HA! Yes, the dark side of the force is maturing him... but (the theme of Banana Fish) AT WHAT COST?! Haha! Thank you so much for your comment and thank you -- Happy 2021 to you, too!

Yeah!!😍 You finally jumped into the 2nd broadcast season, Episode 14 of "Banana Fish"🙌
As you say, there are only 10 more episodes left, but It may be premature to feel lonely.
There are still 10 episodes left!
It's an anime that you don't have time to relax, but let's enjoy it🤗
And! Others have commented one after another, but the new OP/ED is the best, isn't it😘
Of course, the first term was also wonderful, but this time too is too wonderful!!
As you can see, the new OP/ED is also made to symbolize "Banana Fish", with all the images, lyrics and songs really beautiful and wonderful.
Like the first term OP, please pay attention to the new OP as it seems to include "hints and foreshadowing" of future stories♪
The scene where Shorter and Griffin reappeared in the OP caused chest pain and tears.
The new ED is sung in English, so I think you were impressed by the Contents of the lyrics.
The two resting in the shade of a tree seem to represent a day spent in Ash's hometown of Cape Cod...😌
Ash and Eiji face each other in a rye field🌾
Throughout this new ED, it seems that the content of D.J Salinger's novel, which has had a great influence on the work called "Banana Fish", is reflected a lot.
It is speculated by fans that this "rye field scene" is also derived from Salinger's novel "The Catcher in the Rye Field"...😉
Ash looks sadly at Eiji, who spreads his arms toward the light.
In this scene, I felt Ash's longing for Eiji and his sad love.
➡ Ash always told Eiji, "The world we live in is too different."...
That word came to my mind and chest hurt😢
By the way, I would like to introduce a little about the band that sings OP/ED.
    👇
◎New:OP ⇒ Japanese 4-member rock band called "BLUE ENCOUNT".
They are affiliated with various anime and TV shows and offer a lot of music.
In terms of anime, they are "Gintama"・"Mobile Suit Gundam:Iron-Blooded Orphans"・"Banana Fish"・"My Hero Academia"・"Ahiru no Sora," etc.
◎New:ED ⇒ Japanese 5-member rock band called "Survive Said The Prophet".
They was in charge of the first OP "found & lost" too👍
They are not as famous as BLUE ENCOUNT, but they have core fans.
I think that is because their songs are mostly "English songs".
     Vocal is fluent in "English".
Most Japanese people, like me, don't understand English, so I think they tend to be shunned when compared to Japanese songs.
However, I thought that the new ED "RED" of Banana Fish this time was very wonderful because the English lyrics, music and voice quality of vocal all matched the animation.
It's a Ballad song that expresses Ash's feelings for Eiji, unlike the lively and cool song of the first OP😌
The anime is set in the United States, so the English lyrics match the other way around😘
In addition, the vocal of this "Survive Said The Prophet" has participated in the vocal project of Mr. Sawano who composed all OSTs such as "Attack on Titan" in the past.
Therefore, he has also sung the insert songs that are played in various animations (including Attack on Titan) for which Mr. Sawano was in charge of the OST.
Let's return to the impression of Episode 14.
The start was from the continuation of the ending of Episode 13, so the scene was very tense.
It's sad that the Arthur died, but it can't be helped😢
I was very sympathetic to the conversation between Mr. Ibe and Max, who were waiting for Eiji at the airport.
Mr. Ibe is trying to return to Japan so that he will not be involved in danger anymore because Eiji is important, but he is struggling whether it is the correct answer to separate him from his "best friend" Ash.
I can understand Mr. Ibe's feelings like this.
I felt that he really cares about Eiji.
Just as Max cherishes Ash like his son, Mr. Ibe cares for Eiji like his son.
The striking scene is when Ash is struck by the nightmare of killing Shorter and Eiji during surgery and sheds tears.
The scene where the god of death reached out to Ash seemed to be as if Ash himself wanted to give his life...he was timid to live and seemed to give up.
The killing of Arthur may have hurt Ash's heart again.
After all, this "nightmare" is a sign that Ash doesn't want to fight.
Ash is always caught up in the thoughts and schemes of his surroundings and is on the path he does not want to go.
I feel sorry for such Ash.
Thanks to Ash's tough body, Ash successfully completed the surgery and survived.
However, Ash's subsequent words, "I didn't die this time either..." were too sad😭
This words seemed to express the sadness and conflict of having to live an unwanted life and continue to fight.
Even so, Max, who worries Ash like his true "son," is a very kind and lovely person.
Of course, this feeling may be related to the fact that Ash is the younger brother of Max's best friend (Griffin), but I think it also largely reflects the bonds that have been spun through the exchanges so far.
Although the age difference between the two is large, Max sees the essence of Ash and loves Ash and really cherishes.
And, finally even the FBI began to get involved in Ash and Banana Fish.
This made me think that the "incident" had evolved into a situation that would shake America. A scene where Ash is surrounded by nurses.
And the scene of taking the intelligence test was a scene of rest that made me laugh a little.
However, after all, I realized once again that Ash looks beautiful, is a genius with an IQ of 180 or more, and has a charm that attracts people.
Even in the hospital, Ash is targeted by an assassin.
That scene was chilling😱 This time, Eiji and Sing finally met♪
Sing (currently 15 years old) is 5 years younger than Eiji, but he is a boy who can make calm judgments because he is a temporary boss in Chinatown, and he can talk with Ash and Yut-Lung on an equal footing.
He is not afraid of anything and has a straightforward personality, so he can talk to Eiji on an equal footing.
Please look forward to the relationship between Eiji and Sing in the future👐
Looking at the two people, the mind becomes calm♪
With a jealousy feeling towards Eiji, Yut-Lung continues to take a terrible attitude.
Now that the past of Yut-Lung is known, we can understand its complex emotions.
However, because Eiji doesn't know, I'm confused because I don't know why he is hated. Poor Eiji...
And, as you also feel, Yut-Lung seems to have administered the "Banana Fish" to the big-brother😨
He have such a deep hatred for big brother and the Lee family.
It's an emotion that I can understand when I think about his mother, but when we look at it, it's a complicated feeling.
Near the end, Ash was transported to the "National Mental Health Center" by the FBI's plan.
Despite being blindfolded in the company along the way, Ash who guessed which road the car was driving and where he was heading was really amazing and showed his talent.
Scene in which he says the irony to the FBI us.
There was a calmness here that didn't seem like an 18-year-old youth. It was cool😍
    But!! Last scene...
News was broadcast that Ash was "dead" at the transfer destination National Mental Health Center😱
Everyone including Eiji, can't hide their shock!!
What the hell is that??😲 I'm very curious about the next story.
I am also looking forward to the reaction video of Episode 15👋
Thank you for reading this far.

It was a little information, but please refer to it every time you listen to OP/ED♪
I'm really happy that gentle adult men like Max and Mr.Ibe snuggled up to Ash and Eiji.
Adults like them are important in this "cruel world."
Without them, the Ash would have been hit by a worse environment and emotions...
