- I visit Papa's Fish & Chip restaurant in Blackpool which opened in July. Papa's is the largest fish & chips restaurant in the town, having 250 seats and creating 100 new jobs. The Blackpool restaurant is the 10th of the company's restaurants to open. The building, on a prominent corner of Blackpool Promenade last housed the Las Iguanas restaurant and Burger King before that.

It used to be Burtons, the 50/- tailor. Blackpool gales meant the big curved window blew in now and again. "I see the front window's gone for a Burton again!"
With 22.7K regular subscribers Stephen they should be paying you. That's also a lot of soldiers for a double Haddock, chips and mushy peas. In my day it was just one and sixpence.
When I left Blackpool some 60 yrs ago this building was Burtons the Tailors and in the basement was a large snooker hall. Again your videos are being back long forgotten memories. Thanks. Roy Jackson
That was a great review Stephen. I love golden, crispy batter like that, the price was good, it was a nice big portion and you could see it was freshly cooked. I love eating fish and chips by the sea, but it usually ends up like a scene from The Birds, so it's great to know there is somewhere nice to sit in to eat them, seagull free. The clouds and the sea look absolutely amazing, nice and windy again too, perfect. It was great having two videos to enjoy today thank you, I'm looking forward to your next one xx
Went to Papa's in the evening about 2 weeks back, used the takeaway as we had a couple of chip eating dogs with us. Sat on the blue seats outside watching the world go by. Price was good, £4.99 for a cod & chips combo( includes choice of curry, gravy etc). You'll struggle to find that value elsewhere. Dogs love Papa's

They’ve a takeaway counter round the corner next to the outdoor green seating area that you can see in the video.It’s a fair bit cheaper and you can sit on those green seats if it’s not too cold and hoping the seagulls are elsewhere
There takeaway isn't as good as inside the restaurant, it's totally different and they seem to rush the orders through.👍

Me & the wife was in there a few months ago, absolutely superb. My wife is gluten free & they do gluten free food. 10 / 10 for food & service. We go there all the time now.

Great video Stephen. We took daughter & grandkids there in August on holiday & they all agreed best fish & chips ever. Also daughter had gluten free f & c. Me & Mrs had senior special which included bread & butter & drink.
Was at papa's chippy a week ago fish was delicious nice light and crispy batter definitely recommend will be back next time I'm in Blackpool

Can't wait til our visit to Blackpool in the half term - we missed out last year because of covid so it's been 5 years since our last visit. We love your videos because they remind us of everything we love about Blackpool, including the wet and wild weather, that often blows in from the Irish sea! We"re especially looking forward to seeing the Tower in all all it's glory as we've not seen it with it's new led lighting and have never seen it without some form of scaffolding or tarpaulin spoiling the view. Hoping the giant mirror ball will be up and running too - my youngest son is autistic and as well as enjoying all the other illuminations, he would love a giant disco ball! Anyway, enough waffling, once again, love your videos - keep up the good work (We will come and say hello.if we spot you on the Golden Mile) Take care,

I have some good freinds in Hull and have been to two Papas restaurants in the local area and absolutely loved their food.
I'm peticually fond of the Hull patte's and do like a bit of chip spice as well.
One things for sure thought the next time were in Blackpool we will definitely be paying a visit to Papas restaurant 😎

We went to Papas Monday 27 September for my 50th birthday. We have used the Cleethorpes one many times, so expected good things. The fish and batter were fantastic. We were all disappointed with our chips Monday lunchtime. They had no substance, were bland & had texture as if they had been air fried. It wasn't busy when we went. Was disappointed also as no cocktails on the drinks menu.
Wow Steve, that really looks absolutely stunning,I would have had curry sauce+a couple of slices of bread+butter with that as well, washed down with a pint or 2 of a great dark real ale.eg Theakstons old peculiar 👍😉🍺

Great vid. My partner and I went to this chippie, midweek, about 3 weeks ago at around 03.30pm and it was a lot quieter then than it appears when you were there. As you say, the batter is good. It is very crispy and reminded us a little bit of a Tempura type of batter. The chips were very good, crisp, nice and hot, and not a drop of oil on them. when we had finished our meals there was not a bit of grease on the plate, just showed how dry of oil the food was when it was put on the plates. The only gripe I have with the place is how you had to order when we were there. You are shown to your table by a server, your food and drink is served to you by your server, but you have to go up and order the food yourself. Not a problem when the place is pretty empty, like it was when we were there, but I think it could become a bit chaotic if the place was really busy. Not sure why the servers can't take the order, but that is the way it is done at Papa's, so that's how it is.
Yes it did seem a bit weird that, but at least it didn't take as long for the food as it stated on the counter. It said 25-30 minutes & took half that time. Very noisy as well.
Took my son who unfortuately can't have gluton or lactose. The have it all marked on the menu. His fish was equally delicious and cooked in a seperate fryer. Service was great - nothing too much trouble. They even have a QR code on the menu to check the whole of the huge menu for yourself if you do have alergies or intolences.

Had a Papas in Warrington . Was nice when it opened . Then went horrible . It has gone now. Great video . That food looked great.
Great video Stephen, now you have been I may try it myself when I'm next in Blackpool. Still trying to move down here permanent, so will be making plenty of trips before Christmas. For what you got on your plate I guess it was worth the price and the wait! Portions look massive!! I usually visit Granada Bar in Fleetwood for my fish and chips, but after your review I will try Papas! Thanks for sharing :)

I never knew Papa's did a vegan Tofish and chips and don't fry in beef fat until now. I will have to go eat there one day.
It does indeed look very nice. One of the more upmarket fish & chip eateries in Blackpool.
That fish looks super tasty, fish and chips are so unbelievably expensive these days. I think I will have to call into my local chippy right now on my dinner hour and purchase a cod and chips.
£10.99 isn't too bad I was expecting a lot worse tbh. Considering the avg. Fish supper in a regular chippy is upwards of £7.50 now.

I thought the original Harry Ramsdens in Guiseley between Leeds & Bradford was over rated. Much preferred the original Mother Hubbard's in Bradford. Both now found in Blackpool. 🤣

I think their secret recipe batter is kept very cold, so it explodes in the correctly heated oil/ media.
Very clean too, with low TPM, and the potato had no imperfections.
