- Florps Hoggenwarsch once said, “The day four men in their forties spend a lovely afternoon with each other participating in such infallible and wasteful follies instead of putting in a hard days work, well that’s the day I put a pistol in my mouth!” Florps Hoggenwarsch was one of the literary giants of his time (1802 - 1842) as well as a notable cultural critic and observationist. Florps did indeed put a pistol in his mouth whence-forth he discovered that four of his dearest friends spent a lovely afternoon in 1842 reading aloud and mocking amateur books and poems to the enjoyment of a small crowd of other failures. The crowd consisted of toothless town-folk, drunkards, ex-convicts, perverted men, and failed politicians (some crossover) along with some very smart animals. As Florps friends read passages aloud from the failed poets and aspiring novelists of the time, the crowd laughed loudly and chewed on raw potatoes. They threw cornhusks and flatulated freely. These four men (friends of Florps) were in their element though. Having failed miserably at most of life’s endeavors, they found solace (and success) at mocking the attempts of others. They brought much joy to those peasants while they chewed baked wormroot vegetables and picked at their teeth with fish bones. When Florps discovered what his four very dearest friends were doing he was aghast! For Florps, you see, was a highly respected author having published many works including “A Summer Dreary”, “Whistling Willows” and the highly acclaimed “When a Man loves a Small Boy”. Florps knew his career was in danger if HE was ever associated with such ghoulish events. He had two options, take out his pistol and end the lives of his four friends or turn that pistol on himself. He, of course, chose the latter. In the rear of the crowd he made his presence known. “Here Ye! Here Ye!” he shouted. “For I am Florps Hoggenwarsch! And in my last words I proclaim… ‘Those that can’t do! Make TH-cam videos!” he then shot himself with his pistol. A silence fell over the crowd as his body fell to the Earth with a resounding thud. The event continued on without any further interruptions. After the show Florps body was placed on a horse cart filled with cornhusks, half-eated gabbygords, manure, and the discarded literature that the townsfolk laughed at. He was buried in a paupers grave. His friends went on to live happily ever after counting their gold coins in their respective castles.

The actor who played the titular Baby was my substitute teacher several times throughout middle and high school. It is surreal seeing these three call his performance embarrassing when Mr. Mooney proudly told 11-17 year old's about it frequently.
That's so odd. I had a sub in school that was an actor as well. He was in Funny Farm and Bull Durham, as well as a few other movies. I think his name was Buck something. Always talked about his acting days.

Rich's uncanny talent for standing completely still paired with their editing skill in freeze-framing one specific person in-frame has made me deeply unable to trust when he freezes. I love it.

As a lifelong resident of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories in Canada, hearing Mike say the name of my hometown was the most embarrassing thing I've ever heard...
I still think Yellow Knife got off easy compared to Hamilton which is where Geritol Follies was held and especially easier than my friend who was dragged off to see it live at least once as a teen.

I live in Yellowknife and I had a moment of existential panic upon hearing the guys name my hometown. I'm guessing the explosion the movie placed in 1993 might be due to the very real mine explosion that happened here in 1992.

@@the_fat_ghost I mean I've lived here my whole life, the cold can be extreme in the winter, but you get used to functioning despite it. It's a very dry cold, as we live in semi-desert, so it's not quite what you'd expect if you're from somewhere with a lot of humidity. It's also a tourist town, we get a ton of visitors from Japan and China coming to see the northern lights. The summers here are beautiful and make the suffering worth it for sure.

I remember looking up that actor shortly after Future War, and I saw that he was the guy who played my favorite side character in the first John Wick movie. After that, I recognized him in the Bob Odenkirk movie Nobody, playing a similar role.
I guess I'm just amazed that the dude went from fighting Robert Z'dar and his velociraptors in a box fort to become a legit stuntman/actor on real movies.

Hoggenwarsch was a tragic loss, taken from the literary realm too soon. If only he had rekindled his failed friendship with Spengulio, the town's local italian chef, perhaps he could have surpassed his sorrow. Alas, it was not to be and Spengulio never recovered from his loss, leaving his meatball business and straying into anonimity.
I'm sure Mike has read "When a Man Loves a Small Boy" countless times.

There's actually a horrifying case where a girl was found that was kept her entire life in a chair with no interaction outside of her captors making animal noises when feeding her, and she was unable to develop to be fully functional after that point as she was either a teenager or adult by the time she was rescued and the trauma left her forever stunted.

Soooo... I went down a bit of a rabbit hole here. The director of "Mr. No-Legs", Ricou Browning, was a stunt man, who specialized in under-water stunt work and was the original Gill-Man from the "Creature from the Black Lagoon" movies. He had a pretty decent career as a second unit director and stunt coordinator, and also co-created Flipper. Yes, that Flipper. Hope that puts the bar fight scene in some sort of context.
I stopped the video about 20 minutes in to watch The Baby and my god am I glad I did. What a ride. What an ending. You're doing god's work bringing this movie to the masses.

A long time ago Baby was on Netflix and I watched it, I remember after watching it my husband was like, lets go get ice cream, and I was so perplexed about watching "baby" I could barely eat. I'm so happy someone is talking about this movie, extra glad its RLM.

My brother in law who never talked about what he did in Vietnam did talk about extraction via skyhook. The line was raised by inflatable balloon. Probably the most plausible part of the second movie. Also Mike's knowledge of cars (stingray) is unsurpassed.
Fun fact, but Dennis in The Baby (Mike Pataki) is actually the same actor that played Korax, the Klingon warrior in Star Trek. His IMDB also lists his as being in Next Generation (Gov. Karnas).
Mike is probably punishing himself with that cattle prod for missing a chance to name all the actors that appeared in both the original and Next Generation.
I was watching Invasion USA and was thinking of my wonderful friends from Wisconsin (who I'll never meet and will never be my friends), when I said to myself, self, why are you watching Invasion USA on a Sunday spring afternoon? And then I wondered to myself about what my Milwaukee friends, who led me to watch this wonderfully terrible or terribly wonderful piece of Cannon action schlock, were up to, and lo and behold a new Best of the Blurst. It's a Cinco de Mayo miracle!
That was a surprisingly kick ass animated miniseries

I've owned The Baby on blu-ray for a long time but never watched it.
I remember I watched it after it was on some list of the greatest psychological thrillers. I would have thought Jay would have seen it already; just goes to show that there's always stuff left to be discovered.

Mr. No Legs is actually kind of amazing, because the guy who plays Mr. No Legs is legit an amazing guy. He's got a pretty amazing history as a person.
Michael Pataki, the dude who gets his finger burned in "The Baby", was in a ton of '70s stuff. Those of us who grew up on "Happy Days" will recognize him as "Count Malachi", who, with his brother, delivered the "Malachi Crunch" to Pinky Tuscadero at the demolition derby (it's less dirty than it sounds). And in the '80s, he played Drago's mgr in "Rocky IV", delivering the famous line "Whatever he hits . . . he destroys!".
I saw The Baby years and years ago. My theory is that they found this guy that does an incredible imitation of a baby, and wrote a horror movie around it.
I assumed it was based on Genie the feral child. Real wold case of extreme neglect ans abuse.
You did Brad Dourif dirty. He played the doc in Deadwood and Grima Worm-Tongue in Lord of the Rings. He deserves more respect.

I'm actually shocked that they've never seen The Baby before this. It's such a batshit insane film.

These videos are getting longer and longer. And I LOVE IT!
The family fitness down the street from my house use to be a video store too but when they converted the building from store to gym they decided to keep the movies and set up a theater with work out bikes and tread mills and play user choices when ever.
Florps Hoggenwarsch seems to have confused the term "Here ye!" with "Hear ye!". I think this is a subtle attempt by our friend, Mike Stoklasa, to convey that Florps Hoggenwarsch wasn't the brightest bulb, despite such classics as "When a Man Loves a Small Boy".
The problem with movies where they don't want to spoil the ending twist is that we don't get to see their reaction to it.
Or the ending for that matter.
