"Here's what I love about Dylan: He was exactly as you'd expect he would be. He wouldn't come to the rehearsal; usually, all these guys are practicing before the set in the evening. He didn't want to take a picture with me; usually all the talent is dying to take a picture with me and Michelle before the show, but he didn't show up to that. He came in and played 'The Times They Are A-Changin'.' A beautiful rendition. The guy is so steeped in this stuff that he can just come up with some new arrangement, and the song sounds completely different. Finishes the song, steps off the stage - I'm sitting right in the front row - comes up, shakes my hand, sort of tips his head, gives me just a little grin, and then leaves. And that was it - then he left. That was our only interaction with him. And I thought: That's how you want Bob Dylan, right? You don't want him to be all cheesin' and grinnin' with you. You want him to be a little skeptical about the whole enterprise. So that was a real treat."- Obama

Joseph Gent One thing perhaps if not many , Obama and Dylan have in common is their deportment . Dylan has own propriety as does Obama , neither will tarnish their own . This is just what you’d expect from Bob , he doesn’t try to oversell himself to anyone , president or not. I guess when you’re Bob Dylan you don’t need to try to impress . Bob knows who owns his soul , no need of pretence ☮️😎

Great contribution, Joseph. Its what they they like to call it authenticity, which would be a curious appellation to attach to Bob, given the tension between that and the ever evolving cinematic experience that is Robert Zimmerman. He is more than a song and dance man - that's for sure. I'm glad I have followed him without pause from 1965, like some kind of admiring, aural stalker. I have no doubt that he is the greatest and most important cultural force of our times and it will take decades to unpack his contribution.

Just astounding to me how he is able to turn this most strident of protest songs into a tender meditation on aging, without compromising the moral tone. And how the piano arrangement gives if this very American Coplandesque sound, in keeping with the venue and the occasion. My God, the man is just incredible.

+Ray R He would not be Bob Dylan if he sang any other way, all sweet and with vibrato. His voice is derived from the great American folk music style of singing along with his own unique way of vocalising. We love all of his work and his distinctive singing voice because it all blends together seamlessly into a totally special and unmatchable product from a multi-talented genius, which appeals to billions of people, worldwide, whether or not English is their first language, or all ages. Beat that.

The voice of Bob Dylan singing out his exquisite poetry, Anarchy, society, philosophy. He is among the few elite artists in world history to express his times so beautifully and creatively. Yes, he does the song brilliantly, but did you catch the "18th century way" he combed his hair and cut the fashion of that time too, tie, vest and coat. Brilliant, classic Dylan subtlety. Profound.

Dylan never stopped smoking well he did for one year only 1969, and his voice was beautiful that year. He sounds bad cause of 50 plus years of smoking. Still he is the best artist and song writer that ever lived.
