What’s funnier is it was only supposed to be for Mario but they made peach as an elephant and then toadette. Those were their first choices 😂
I love the fact that everyone worked on their jobs AND the ideas of the game. It just shows how teamwork will help you accomplish amazing things!
It also shows just how much can get done when you _don't_ have a strict deadline. They had as much time as they needed to make Wonder, and it shows.

Fun fact:
When you get a game over, when you get back to the map, a special place will appear. When you go into it, you will be put in a gold room with cannons filled with coins. Also, the talking flowers are singing a Mario tune.

You can _tell_ Mario Wonder is special. It is NOT like other Mario games, and based on what the working environment was like, its obvious to see why!
The expressiveness of the models are really such a nice highlight for me. I'm really glad that they decided to put so much effort into it.

Here’s a cool little secret when your using the elephant power up, if you you find a koopa (or anything else with a shell you can pick up) if you jump on them and then pick up the shell, and then throw it straight up in the air, if you keep hitting it with your trunk before it hits the ground five times the shell will fly up into the air and explode into a handful of coins, I think is a pretty cool little secret especially if you like playing keepy uppy!😉
It's to prevent an infinite one up glitch.
I swear if I could’ve given Nintendo an idea for this game before it was released, I probably would’ve had an idea for turning the characters into railway locomotives in a wonderflower event. 🤣

Jump! after you fell down to the Talking Flower, wait a few moments and don't do anything down to the Talking Flower (or Florian does his idle animation 3 times after you fall or move), it says one of I think 5 sentences besides "What?! Where'd you come from?!" when you approach it; "What's the matter? You tired or something?" , "ACHOO! Am I allergic to...me?" , "Maybe it's time for a break. It's impressive that they adapted so well to modern working conditions during the quarantine. Nintendo was literally founded in the 19th century under the reign of Emperor Meiji, and they've been making games since the early 1970's, so you'd think they might have fallen further behind at this point, but they're still innovating and making great games.
I’m a gamer at heart and my gf isn’t too much of a gamer and she loves mario wonder. We played mario U deluxe but wonder is a whole world more fun. It’s intricate and exciting enough for me since I usually play more complex games and she got the hang of it immediately. 10/10

I happened to play Super Mario Bros. Wonder on its release day after I got it in the mail. I just now realized that Cosmic Mario returns in this game when I looked at the enemies list in the Mario Wiki. Cosmic Mario is one of my fan-favorite enemies in any Mario game. Hopefully, I might eventually encounter him. 👍👍👍
Some levels reminded me of SMM2 levels because there were vines that would just hang from the ceiling in vertical levels
I am loving Super Mario Bros. Wonder the game is amazing and the graphics are insane they almost look like PS5 graphics imo. This game is one of the best 2D Mario games I ever played!!! This is my GOTY!!!
Fun Fact: If you press B on the loaging screen of a level, the icon of prince florian in the bottom left will jump.
The only thing I noticed in my play through is that the pipes have a cool and better design to them then the standard colour.
I love this video from a game development perspective. I work in public health, and I was trained to not see ourselves as physicians or policy makers or behavioral specialists or biostatisticians or whatever. We wanted to be seen as "public health professionals" that tapped into our expertises but have the foremost aim of promoting the health and well-being of population. When they let everyone on the team into meetings and with Kondo saying that the sound team are game devs over just sound people, it feels like they had the same philosophy as well.
I bought the game today from Wally World on my lunch break in large part due to this channel. I'm excited to get home from worth to play a bit before my gf comes over.
I love how many easter eggs they included for music nerds like me.
Well the two things I would like to see them add in this game is like new bosses and new playable characters but huh that's interesting for what they did about this game but I'm playing it and I can't wait to see the videos you'll make about this game
Hearing about the wonderful (pun intended) work environment Nintendo had for the game (and how it absolutely shows in the end result) makes me wish even more that this game wins awards/breaks records etc., because it could really hammer home the point to other game companies (preferably actually other entertainment industries too) that a product is way better and thus successful when the work environment is good and developers have more time and freedom and cooperation with all the different aspects of the project.
Wouldent it be cool if the flower kingdom was in mario Odyssey and you collect wonder seeds in that game instead of moons, and some with their own odd wonder flower events too!

I really enjoyed the chain of levels leading up to the special world in world 1, I wish other worlds did that as well.
I was expecting my copy of the game today, & I preordered it from what I’m pretty sure was my Target location, but it has some shipping to do and I have to wait another week for God knows why.

They should have a new 2D Mario where they revisit Super Mario with a cape. Super power shroom and it takes place in new Donk city and it’s Waluigi and Wario as the enemies. Each character: Peach, Daisy, Luigi, Toad, and Toadette have super powers unique to them where they can swap through the different stages. Facing Waluigi and Warios cronies.
That would be a great side scrolling play form game
I finished the main story last night, and I totally see that this was a fun game to work on. Not going to spoil anything, but usually when I finish a game I move on, but this game definitely has replay value and I'm still playing it even after completing it. I played beginning to end as Daisy, but now I'm trying different characters and am surprised to see it actually makes a difference! Not just in the play style (heck, Mario 2 did that), but also in the way the world responds to you depending on who you pick. This is the best 2D Mario game since Super Mario World, and my favourite 2D Mario game ever!
in world 3 the master of the world says how are you so good at the crouching high jump and that it took him year to master and you learned so qiuckly. Most probably mentioning super mario bros 2 that mario and freinds already know how to use it.
So hyped to play the game finally when I get home 🏡 from work tonight.

Making a new artstyle for every game is not something that could happen with the snap of your fingers but, it would be cool for there to be different artstyles for Super Mario Bros games. I’m not saying that Mario Bros Wonder looks bad. No. It looks amazing.

I think it's a bit presumptuous to say that everyone who worked on this game had a "perfect work environment" with no problems but I will admit on the surface it sounds better than other work environments in the industry.

All of this is incredible. It makes me want to write my own story for an actual official Mario game even more ^^ I have plenty ideas and I'm sure the fans would love it ^^
But let's be honest, I doubt I'll ever get a chance to work at Nintendo, and being a writer for Mario even less.

@@jangospencer3906 Thank you. I have a hard time believing in myself because I'm 20 and I don't have a job at all. I'm working on a small project with a few friends because I like to help and maybe I can get some recognition for it and then maybe working on paid projects but it's slow and I don't know if I'll ever go anywhere in life.
Well I can tell you about what I've written. My idea is a story that would attempt to define the Mario canon. Of course Mario has several canons, and the fans would be free to not agree with some of the points I added in my story.
For example, I would flesh out Mario's backstory. My idea would be that, just like Cranky Kong is the OG Donkey Kong and the current Donkey is not the OG one, Jumpman wouldn't be Mario, but his father.
There's a difference in the depictions of Jumpman and current Mario, with Jumpman being more mean (trapping Donkey Kong in Donkey Jr. for example. Our Mario wouldn't do that).
That would mean Lady is not Pauline but Mario and Luigi's mother. As for Pauline, with her brown hair, blue eyes (just like Mario) and obvious link to Lady, she would actually be Lady's daughter a.k.a. Mario's sister.
This whole cast would originate from the Mushroom Kingdom (Mario is canonically a native son of the Mushroom Kingdom according to Miyamoto) but they grew up in a circus owned by Jumpman in the Metro Kingdom.
That's why Jumpman was the one to go after DK in the very first game. Not only did DK kidnap his love, it was "his" ape. Also the cast growing up in a circus is an explanation for the crazy jumps and acrobatics Mario and Luigi can perform.
There would also be Wario who, according to the manual of Mario Land 2, has been jealous of Mario since they were children. I'll make Wario Mario's cousin. That's why they look so similar. But Mario always was more popular than him in the circus and Wario grew resentful of Mario.
There would also be Pietro. Pietro is the name of a third Mario brother in the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, though it was revealed at the end of the episode he appeared in that he was lying about being their brother.
But I thought I could reuse the concept of Pietro. In my game, Mario Bros. 3 would be a theater act, and the Mushroom World from this game (that is said to be a mystical place you can access via the Mushroom Kingdom) would be a popular fairy tale from the Mushroom Kingdom but not real.
And in Mario Bros. 3 and also in its All Stars version, the King of the Water Land looks a lot like Mario, but with a slightly different skin color. That would be Pietro who, after the circus, kept working in the entertainment industry and played the King of Water Land in that play.
Pietro would not be a fighter, and would have a very shy personality, even more than Luigi, but that leaves when he's on stage doing what he loves. And he would have a blue hat when not wearing costumes.
Of course Mario and Luigi became plumbers after trying many jobs, like being part of the Wrecking Crew of their possible uncle/Wario's father, Spike (I still have to decide if I go with that or not), and all the jobs from the Game and Watch games.
But then Bowser attacks the Mushroom Kingdom and, with basically nothing, they decide to go back to the place they were born in and try to save the princess. And as we all know, they succeed. As time passes, Mario would quit the plumbing business to become Peach's bodyguard.
The areas of the game would be the various Kingdoms. The Mushroom Kingdom of course, but also Sarasaland, maybe the Beanbean Kingdom, Subcon from Mario Bros. 2 Doki Doki Panic, which isn't a dream by the way. The manual explains that Mario did see it in a dream, where its inhabitants call him for help.
But the next day, during a picnic with Luigi, Peach and Toad, he stumbles upon the same staircase he saw in his dream and goes through the door we see him falling through at the beginning of the game.
There would also be the Sprixie Kingdom from 3d World, and there probably would be post game areas like Delfino Plaza, the Metro Kingdom where we could interact with Jumpman and Lady themselves, DK's island...
Each Kingdom of the main game would have a Fairy tale theme, since Miyamoto said that the Mushroom Kingdom has Mushrooms as a reference to Alice in Wonderland (we would have the grand return of Mips the Rabbit in a similar role to the rabbit in Alice in Wonderland since Mips is also in a hurry in Mario 64) and the Beanbean Kingdom is based on Jack and the Beanstalk.
Sarasaland would be the Arabian Nights, Subcon would be the Sleeping Beauty, the Sprixie Kingdom would be Puss in Boots (because the Cat Bell, and apparently in one of the earliest versions of the tale, the cat is actually a fairy in disguise).
I was also thinking of a potential Halloween-based Pumpkin Kingdom with Hansel and Gretel as its fairy tale, and that's where the events of the Luigi's Mansion games would have taken place, and where we would find E. Gadd.
I would also bring lots of old and new characters into this. Wart, Tatanga, E. Gadd, Spike, Waluigi alongside Wario, and even Bowser's brother from the Lost Levels.
I was thinking that, for the gameplay, you would play as two characters and be able to form various pairs between all the characters you've unlocked throughout the story, and each pair would change the way you play.
And with Bowser's brother, I was thinking of a Boss Battle against Bowser and him where, just for this fight, you'd have no choice but to use the Mario and Luigi pair for a Mario Bros. vs Bowser Bros. fight.
I would also make all the characters talk with dialogue boxes, even Mario. And I would make sure they have the best depictions they can have.
For example, I would not make Peach fight, since she constantly gets kidnapped, showing that she's unable to free herself. But I would give her a similar personality to the one she has in the first two Paper Mario games.
She would be kind, compassionate, stealthy and intelligent (adding her to the pair you play as would add stealth gameplay), and her intelligence would help her come up with plans to fix whatever crisis they'll be going through in the story, which makes sense since she is the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom, and is the one who must take the decisions. She wouldn't fight, but she would bring her own unique set of skills to the table.
Mario would be his usual happy, courageous and adventurous self of course, and I was thinking to add some depth to Bowser. He would still be the goofy but sometimes threatening guy we know and love.
But I was thinking of adding the fact that he originally didn't invade the Mushroom Kingdom to marry Peach, but fell in love with her after. After all, in SMB1, the reason why he kidnapped her was not love, but because she was the one person to be able to undo the spell he casted on the Mushroom Kingdom's inhabitants.
The original reason, outside of feeding is megalomany, would be because his Kingdom, being made of rock and lava, lacks resources. And he wants to conquer more land to give his people a better life. But he's not very smart and a megalomaniac, so he didn't consider negociations and directly tried to conquer all the various Kingdoms.
But even when he kidnapped Peach to marry her, getting more land and resources to help his people that live in a decaying Kingdom so that they can get a better life was always one of his goals.
Also E. Gadd would have great potential as a morally grey character that acts according to what helps him the most with his research and scientific curiosity, since he helps the heroes, but also gave Bowser Jr. the paintbrush, "accidently" sold the King Boo painting before Luigi's Mansion 2/Dark Moon and asked Luigi to capture all the portraits ghosts, even if they were doing nothing wrong.
King Boo was said to be the one to trap Mario, but he portraits ghosts somehow managed to have him and all the Boos trapped in their mansion where they can't cause trouble before Luigi frees them. So they're not evil.
But if King Boo was trapped himself, he couldn't have trapped Mario and sent Luigi the letter, and the portrait ghosts wouldn't do it since, they're just minding their own business for the most part.
So maybe that, actually, E. Gadd trapped Mario and sent Luigi the letter, with the goal of sending Luigi capture the ghosts, even though most of the portrait ghosts were, once again, just minding their business before Luigi arrived.
So basically E. Gadd could be a very good and interesting morally grey character, because he also did good things of course.
Sorry this was very long, but these are some of the biggest ideas I have for this potential game. I'm really passionate about this. So what do you think ?
