It’s cringe to hear what non-drag Queens think of drag and it pisses me off that everyone and their mother thinks they’re some kind of expert now too on one of the most diverse and ancient cultures in existence
Katya really reminds me of my former best friend, who I'd known since we were teenagers and lost when I went through health issues (getting an IUD --> crazy hormonal mood swings + triggering underlying pelvic pain conditions = not much fun to be around). My friend was thin and pale, a heavy smoker, gay, balding, quirky, bizarre sense of humor, into fet/kink but not relationships, openminded, counterculture...out of drag, Katya looks so much like him. It was hard at first, after I lost him, to watch videos with her. But I feel like now it's more bittersweet than bitter, reminding me that these are just qualities I like in people and I can still appreciate them.

I love Phi Phi, and wasn't mad at her comments about Alyssa. She didn't say anything nasty about Alyssa. Phi Phi's comments were about her viewpoint on how the judges treated Alyssa as opposed to anyone else. Drag Race fans, please be nice, not rabid.
It honestly is such a shame that Phi Phi's image was so negatively impacted by Drag Race. She had every opportunity to thrive in that season but it was clear that production was never going to let her. Kudos to her for not attending the reunion and taking control of her story back - We see her journey, charity and hard work, and it sucks that most people judge her by a scripted TV show.
It seemed like a multifaceted issue. She was definitely a victim of intentional editing, but she also went out of her way to sound very self centered and spoiled back then, not to mention the slew of comments directed at Sharon needles. But then, the script got flipped and people started hearing about what Sharon was actually like, and phi phi (while still self absorbed but not as much as was edited) did what adults do, and grew up and out of those traits. People get too hung up on the strongest impressions made and not enough on when people legit change for the better
Katya and Trixie have become too much of a part of my life. One friend and I? we only talk to each other online in UNHhhh (and some RPDR) gifs. No words. Just gifs. It has become our language. I always use Katya gifs, and she uses Trixie gifs. And we always know what the other one is saying.
