It doesn't matter what crazy taming methods there are, nothing beats a good old fashioned giga tame to get the heart going. One of my favorites to tame and a testament to anyone who can do it solo for their preparedness and patience.
Appreciate you, Steve. I hope the newer Ark survivors find this as useful as I did years ago on ASE.
The only difference to any other tame is how much torpor it has. It’s one of the most boring tames to get. Most of the time I just jam the shoot button down and go make a coffee.

Singleplayer, I've found Giga's and Carachar on the mountain farthest east in those buildings on the south side of that mountain, and once at the top. I've also found Giga's at the top of the Snow mountain that doesn't have the ob at the top twice, and at the bottom of the snow mountain with the ob, down where you can go under the ice. And of course a few at the volcano.

New Ark player here on Official servers. The wife and I just tamed a lvl 90 Female Giga we barely hitting lvl 80. Greatest feeling of accomplishment. GGz for all those who are out there hunting for Gigas ✊🏽

As long as is flat land three metal dino gates shaped like the letter U, kite it into the U bend and put the fourth or have someone put the fourth metal gate behind it and there u have it.
I was literally just watching the Original Rag to tame a giga Nooblets vid this morning 😅. Hopefully console release happens next week 🤞.
Oh yeah. In my single player world there were 3 gigas in there,1 was literally in the wall, 2 died to lava, but only 1 had a heart. Kind of a wtf moment.

I have yet to see it at volcano but I have seen one spawn on blue ob. Now I will be searching volcano a but more often lol. Ty

There is a giga spawn in the snow biome while i was in singleplayer, it was near the ice cave to the east if i recall

It should be noted lava mountain isn't the ONLY place these spawn. I came across 1 at the mountain on 20Lat 20Lon near the red drop. Be careful, there is an Alpha Carno nearby too. Alpha boosted Giga is a scary Giga

Spawns on asa r crazy. Had two gigas spawn in the volcano two rhynios in the swamps and a carch on one of the mountains in a singleplayer. Compared to ase where u could only have one of the three spawn at a time
So does anyone else have a major flashback to good ol days watching Nooblets teaching us how to tame stuff on original Ark when stuff came out? =D
It’s worth noting Giga torpor rises incredibly slowly in this kind of setting, and the torpor gauge doesn’t begin to plummet until all the torpor damage it has queued up is assigned to it. Think of it like a roller coaster with a slow ascent and a fast descent.
yea with how spammy he shot each tranq arrow/bolts, its not the most effective and preserved method using the tranq
In what kind of setting? And a gigas torpor rises just like anything else. It just has more of it so it takes longer.

I've seen a single Carch on metal mountain and a Giga at Blue Obelisk terminal on my sp file. I haven't seen one at the volcano yet. Having to kill a Giga to start Mega or Tek cave is a bit rough lol

idk how you and ive seen other always finding GIGAs inside the Volcano.. IVE NEVER seen one in there.. but do like the idea of the large bear trap idea..
Have you thought about getting the paleo ark mod to increase the gaming expierence? :D the giga update brings so much more
Could you recommend single player breeding settings so big and small can imprint to 100 but also don’t take a week to raise. Several hour raise would be more reasonable

I killed mine last night because it fell 6 inches into a ditch as soon as that passageway opens up. I knew the whole thing was going to be trouble because i had to ghost to the saddle since the giga was stuck in the lava rocks and my argy went to follow me.. it wanted to become a phoenix i think. That didnt work for him either.
I get spawns in the snow down the hill near that little ice area to the NE as well. Both Gigas and Carawhatevertheyare - also, why crossbow and not the tranq darts?
Pff, i remember my first giga tame. It had just got released during the beta on that very same day. I went all over the island and found one eventually on the slope of the mountain south of carno island. It took over 400 arrows to knock out, and it was a lv4, at the time the max cap for giga's on official PvE servers. There was no kibble, you couldn't cook prime and it didn't stack either. I had to call in support from the rest of the server, eventually it ate over 12.000 narcotics and it was a 8+ hour tame. Whilst it looked very scary, it turned out it was as dangerous to the rider as to its prey since it could knock you off and eat you if you made it take to much damage. And that included fall damage. The best way to handle one in those days was to direct it on a Ptera with whistles and follow commands.

Dying to fall damage when dismounting was the best! And it raging when it fell half a meter was also amazing 😂

Knocked a giga on official server and its torpor was dropping 300 per second
i was suppose to use 280 narcotics, I've spend 800 and it woke up. i don't know what that was but its a serious issue and need to be fixed.

Hes probably using boosted rates or modified setting.

hi did you change damage settings ? i tame lvl 11 ... i know is not much but his damage level is 25 dmg not 110 ? is becouse of level or settings ? pls
Hi mates, im playing on ps5 and just tamed it but after puting the saddle, the option of riding doesnt appear...only the comanda amd behavior options...any know what im doimg wrong?
you can also just shoot it from the volcano rim edge
I tried this on single player (Xbox series x), but the giga was stuck in the wall I knocked him out tamed him but couldn’t ride or get him moved. Gutted would have been a mega start on day 12. Oh and there was also 2 Carcharodontosaurus’s in the volcano too. Took aaaaages to get shut of them.
Hey Steve, do you know if ASA movement speed stat exists? As you know in ASE even though movement speed could not be leveled on wild dinos it used to count as a normal stat and we lost a lot of points into it, any idea if this is still present?
Hey sorry for late reply I bet you already found it lol, but in the map settings one thing you can toggle is allow player and dino movement speed leveling
I can't for the life of me get gigas to chase me on ASA. With a bird, as soon as I'm out of its bite range, it loses interest. On foot (with a very good set of flak so I can survive) it bites me a few times then it loses interest even though I'm not dead.
Surrounding it with 4 metal gateways like in ASE doesn't work, it gets out. I put down the large beartrap with nothing around it close to the giga, lead it to the trap on foot, then when the trap gets it I run in and make a pentagon around it with 8 gates. Thank God for the new and improved snap points. My brother does metal behemoth gates but I don't like shooting from atop those.

Ah, the old standard 2-4 metal gates/bear trap routine that dumb giga's have been trapped in for years. Such an easy tame. Work's for Charca's too, trap them, feed them dead baby rex, take down metal gate, go on rampage.
My man Steve might have insulted Ark for asking 70 for the Unreal 5 update.
But at least he is smart enough to make them guides and ride the commoner hype train!

My solo tamed giga got offlined by a tribes argie. 14 turrets not 1 of the raiding tribe died, and the giga over level 100 dead by their argie.
Can you tame a dragon in this game?
That is INSANE how many tranq darts and arrows it takes to put that beast to sleep..... good grief

So i am confused i tamed my first giga today only lvl 5 female on the snow mountain i used kibble only needed about 4-5 but it took me two trys first time i brought 400 narqs with me and the torpor drained faster then it built up the second time i used about 600 narqs and got it im on offical PvE server is this normal?

Yes series x/s and ps5 will be be able to run this game smoothly with a good internet connection
They'll run it, I just heavily doubt they're going to run it well. If they manage to stay at a constant 60 fps I think most people would be impressed.

Minimum spec GPU is a 1080. You could run it but you might have to put everything on low and disable all the lighting bits.
For the best experience go to 5:48 and set your video play speed to .5x play speed then watching until 5:52 😂😂😂😂😂
I can never tame a giga. The tame bar never raises no matter how long i keep waiting and pumping narcotics and kibble into it. Im on a non dedicated server and i even set thebtame speed to max because this annoys me
I just use a rhynio to tame a giga
They only spawn inside the volcano now??? I don’t like that.
Very awkward putting down a Giga trap for it to turn around and walk out of the trap and kill the person with all the gates…

I watched this live and it was painful for a number of reasons. I love you Steve but please be aware of the following fact about Giga taming.
Giga torpor drops insanely fast, they have a huge torpidity pool but once it starts to drop it drops like a stone, thousands of torpor points shaken off every few seconds.
The far and away best and safest approach to deal with this is to utilize the fact that with ANY creature in ark, the torpor counting up from being fed narcotics happens very slowly. You should ideally knock out the Giga, and stand there observing, immediately allowing its torpoidity to fall right to the very bottom and then spam in around 600 narcotics all at once. This will give you a very long window of safety while the Giga sleeps happily and its torpidity raises ever so slowly by around 24000 points over a long period of time (only a few per second) (40 for each narcotic). In this window of time even the beachiest of bobs could prepare the necessary food to feed it (not everyone is going to have Kibble as you used here, allowing you to get away with your early use of narcotics and will have to go and farm prime in order to feed it or search for an Ovis to feed it the mutton).
It is one of the tames that you absolutely should come fully prepared to tame, bear trap it, gate it in and knock it out, spam in narcotics and then breathe easy, you have BAGS of time and it is in 0 danger of waking up. If you follow the simple method of trap>KO>narc from very low torpidity (which it reaches very fast after a KO) the big lizard is actually one of the easiest tames in the game.

@@Wolfy11188 I'm not feeling any type of way, the process has been the same for nearly 8 years and I've watched nooblets for nearly as long too. This is the only negative ish comment I have EVER made to go along with probably hundreds of likes and a long term sub. I just love the game and know how to play it after wasting thousands of hours of my life sweating in it. This video was part of a live stream and it was painful to watch so I am free to say why I thought so if I want.
wild giga and carchar should be allow to destroy metal. Rexes Spinos stone and so on to give it some more pve flavor.

@Ma121Hunter Well if you really want to not support the game, install a non legit copy. You can even play multiplayer on unprotected servers with pirated copies.
Anyway nooblets didnt forgive and forget snailgames: he even made a video on the server situation (before it was fixed by the devs). Also what a gameplay guide has to do with forgiveness? idk
