Here is my solution : stop with the content island. It's so annoying having to grind the same mission for very specific gear (Voruna, Citrine and their weapons for example)
Would be nice if there was guarenteed drops linked to how much te is spent doing a specific node a set amount of time. That would speed up frame farming. (E.g. do specific node 4 times to get all frame parts). It's been 10 yrs simplify alot of the old frames.
@@Harbinger421Or have it all scale with enemy levels. Because playing SP and getting the same EXACT rotation rewards in normal SC is a slap in the face. Same with loot drops. SP only increases drop rate, and not amount, but the mod drop chance booster in SP is nice, but doesn't help predetermined mod, and resource drops from rotation rewards, like Caches, spy's, defenses, bounties, and etc. without playing potentially hours of survival to increase these drops that also have a cap/cealing that's low, and your limited to only certain resources per planet/moon/ship.
To fix something at this scale, would nearly require reworking the entire loot system. I also think if they shorten the grind, they need to find some way to monetize it even further. Hence the pay to skip missions. If they reduce grind then there's no incentive to buy boosters and etc. (Probably why they're wanting to nerf Charm as well...) I predict a whole monkey's paw situation.

the bigger issue is the empty starchart that has 90% of its content missing because they are locked behind old operation events.
even this operation gargoyle cry event has me worried that it will end up being another thing of content locked behind an event that will never show up again.
DE's alternative to the pay to skip is to add back in the main questlines of the star chart
@@flamethekid Content islands are a pretty huge problem though. The 3 "open worlds" are content islands in and of themselves, the most compelling one(outside of story/aesthetic) is Deimos because it has the most beneficial rewards and is the simplest to earn your way through.
I do agree that most of the star chart is borderline pointless now though. Especially with the inclusion of Duviri and The Circuit the fact that each planet has dozens of nodes that are functionally identical with no connecting purpose to them now that the story has advanced and the old way of doing things (such as dark-sector clan control and certain operation events) is over it'd be nice to have some of that trimmed out. Especially since you require all nodes complete to do Steel Path.
I have no real problem with the "story skip" since there currently is legit 50~100 hours before you hit end game with nuggets of good stuff in between the start and there but overall it's a very samey experience with little to no compelling thread other than the gameplay itself. The gameplay is great but not necessarily something that'll keep players hooked early on especially when they look and see the daunting road of the star chart ahead of them only to find out there's more than just that, there's also railjack and open worlds to burn through before they can get access to certain frames or the end of the story. People complain about the story skip but forget that it's been years since operators (and now drifters) were called "Spoiler Mode" by anyone and they ignore the fact that railjack, necramechs and warframes can all be bought with plat. Even mods can be bought with plat, though you have to go through other players for that. If the story skip is reasonably priced it'll be decent way for new or returning players to catch up to their freinds. But too expensive and it'll be a big flop.
That said, my only real issue with the story skip is the fact that it means they have significantly less incentive to go back and fix up the new player experience.

my major gripe with "pay to skip" is that it may give the team a "people are going to skip it anyways why try as hard" mindset and i would hate that for warframe
I would hope not. But since it's a skip for old content I can't imagine it will. I can't imagine must more change for old content at this point anyway.

Ok, odd thought, how about it skips all the old quests up to natah or the second dream, cause imo, the story starts to get good at second dream, and yes it is fairly older content, but it is integral for the lore, and why ruin the experience of questing when the beginning of the game is by far the most tedious while the endgame is just boring, that mid game place is perfect imo, and this is just my opinion, it may be a bad one, or it may be genius, idk, I’ve only helped my friends get some hot ass for wisp and then around the sacrifice does the story get really good

Good luck to anyone jumping straight into the New War without understanding how Archwing, Railjack, and operator mode work given their respective quests are also meant to serve as tutorials for said mechanics.
Unless DE is also doing a tutorial overhaul, this is gonna backfire hard. Like a player new to Souls jumping straight to the final boss of Sekiro.
With all due respect, let's not pretend railjack even remotely has a coherent tutorial. May as well just throw players in and let them figure it out since that's what happens anyway just with more confusion currently

Warframes beauty is in that, if one slowly plays from node to node, juction to junction , planet to plane. One would develop skills needed for the content. Listening to what beeing said, or reading the text, or even paying attention to subtitles or looking at map for marker , but it do be boring at one point. But in general it be same, cause in the end its not the mechanics what is hard, its the realisation you must do 1 mission type x ammount of times to get enough resource or that mod so your build for survivability and ability to kill faster improves! And Pay to skip would just eventualy lead to same goal, things somewhat are hard and yet im still required to invest same ammount of hours as everyone else did.

Let’s not to forget Duviri Paradox have a way different tutorial, considering Drifter is just a normal person. So no idea the basic tutorial regarding to warframes and operator will just gonna made players jump off Duviri right off the bats

Ever gone back to a game you’ve done a lot in but haven’t played for ages and you have no idea how you got all this stuff or what it does. That’s what pay to skip will be like.
It would be worse than that. Since you're not getting resources, endo, credits, and mods from playing nodes. You still actively have to grind nodes to be able to make the most basic stuff in the game. Bringing you right back to square one with the same exact issue that they're trying to sell a solution to. It's literally robbing the player.
What they need to to is have less linear and more branching requirements to reach the latest content. It makes it hard when you have to complete every single other quest in order to reach new content.
Y'know, Destiny did something similar with the paying to power up your characters. I remember that going over really well with the community.....
Then they added pay to skip content .... and now destiny 2 is a 550 € game ( no joke and they still sell you a batlepass and a way to skip it )

I typically just footed the entire bill in Plague Star, having a severe excess of resources. Still have hundreds of those tings, I had rather... optimistic plans regarding farming that event.
There are a good amount of story missions that you can skip that don’t have much going, but I feel ones like The Second Dream, The Sacrifice and The New War new players should still be forced to play, otherwise they’ll be confused af on how it went from I’m controlling a robot to I’m controlling a teen that controls a robot; also they’ll miss the epic introduction to Khal, the greatest man alive.
They said there'd be a free story recap and the paid version will just make it where they get all the items you get from quests and you won't have to play it.
Praise the new war all you want, but the world outside of the Warframe player base just doesn't care
Probs to Reb for not just ignoring chat and even to say they will think about it / rethink a bit. But if you pay for stuff you would get through the quest I dont really see a problem... Wouldnt bother me but allowing to skip content for cash is weird in itself. On the other side: If you start WF when the update will release you prob will need 2-3 weeks to get to the content you may be interested in, which also is pretty tough.

Hydroid will be able to strip the level 100 steel path boss of all armor very easily, trivializing the event. They will not like this.

People were able to strip Plague star armor completely before Hydroid rework FYI. Just use Vastilok with Shattering impact. Just a couple, to few shots at it will take it out. The thing also has fossilized health. So, you won't be doing that much more to it after taking out it's form of DR.
These are things a new player who skips everything with their wallet will not only not learn this, but also earn either.

Lmao I’m flashing back to where I matched with some guy on hydron who was bitching how he didn’t understand why hydron was the level spot. His stuff was taking forever. We pointed out he had a full setup on. This guy was MR 16 and he fucking didn’t understand how xp distribution on gear worked.

@@joshuathomasverghese1341 I'm well aware of that, but it's still in the cards, just a lot more work for the team at DE and CLEARLY an issue they've been thinking about a solution to for a while. Most MMO's find a way to have people jump ahead for story stuff like GW2 and FF14, but the grind doesn't interfere with the story the same way it does in Warframe.
Compared to other mmo, warframe doesn't have that many story considering it is 10 year game. Plus some newbie leave the game coz they think you need to buy warframe with premium currency even tho you can easily farm it, and seeing plat skip will further drive that mindset that you need to buy premium currency.

It literally sounds like they're trying to put up as many optional pay walls as possible in the way of new players, while also not thinking about how allowing players to skip missions would create issues of not gaining loot from playing nodes normally. They would still be taking just as long to play through nodes to get what they need to be able to make frames and weapons. And if they reduce the grind, I fully expect a monkey's paw situation. I expect monetization to get greedier since you would have less of reason to get boosters, or be on the game and content just as long.
They would nearly have to undo 10 years of work to rebalance the game for drops to lower grind. Paying to skip will just mean just as much grind, well also not being able to replay some quest since they're not replayable. Pay to NEVER play this specific mission unless you start a new save, or watch a let's play of it (defeating the purpose of playing and paying for it at all)!!!
This is in the game already with almost all frame quest/grinds (Yareli, Grendel, Necramech, Railjack etc). Theyr are simply expanding their system to other parts of the game as well.

True but big question is, if you get rewarded what resources endo and everything else you're going to get by skipping it? I'm guessing none. You would actually get more by playing normally than skipping. The same exact issue that they think they're going to fix by allowing people to pay to skip, will just become the same exact future issue. The whole game's loot system needs to be reworked, or they need to just lie in the bed that they created.
If they wanted to appeal to new players and want new players to play, they should have been thinking about this when they've been adding content for the last decade. They're only now thinking of it 10 years later... That's a little late now... To undo 10 years of work or to undermine it seems like corporate suicide... Not to mention the player won't learn anything by skipping missions. It would just further exacerbate every issue that DE created. At that point, you'd be better off paying someone else to play the game for you.

@@Meloncholiac I'm saying that the issue is going to be even worse. Imagine not getting the materials, mods, endo, and credits because you didn't play the nodes and you paid to skip them... Paying to skip will exacerbate the issue. Without fixing the underlying problem with the loot system, and allowing players to skip nodes in missions entirely that serves as tutorials to learn to play the game, will actively make their experience worse than mine for farming everything. Not to mention, allowing players to skip missions that aren't replayable is beyond moronic.
This is the equivalent of throwing a brand new player of a video game on the final boss, with no clue to mechanics, let alone resources needed to beat it. I think a majority of us are not at all saying that they should "suffer like everyone else should", but if they wanted to truly tackle this as an issue, this is NOT how to do it...

Pay to skip story missions doesn't even solve the problem of being GEAR ready for mid to late content, that roadblock is in MR and Rare mods. The only thing keeping players from completing the star chart in less that a week is build times for Junction Node requirements. It should be pay to skip Junctions, not quest. I'd say let people buy specific mods, but the market already lets you do that. Skip forma ranking on the other hand, everyone would use that, even people who can grind those levels in a single steel path mission.
I honestly think they should remove the Orokin catalyst and reactor system. There is no build on this planet that you can make without them that will take you far. They're not optional, they are a requirement, and place there to be dangled in front of you if you don't have enough nightwave credits to get anymore, but to make a purchase, but without them you can't progress.
I propose everyone who pays to skip content receives a special cosmetic like the ones who bought the Heirloom bundle did but this time it's a proper clown facepaint.
The world outside of the Warframe player base doesn't care. Yeah, a world outside of Warframe exists and it's called reality.
Yeah they did bring up a valid point about how much content new players gotta get through in order to get to the current content. And I like that they emphasis that they clearly would rather have players enjoy the story instead of skip it, but are giving the option to do so for players who simply want to join their friends in the newest content. But really no matter what they end up doing, people are gonna be mad. This is a bit of a lose/lose situation when it comes to PR now that this "Skip button" genie is out of the bottle. Personally? I don't care that much, but it's obvious tons of people do.

I do wonder how people would feel about a skip that functioned more like a faster access button than a full skip.
So, something like a $20-$30 pack that let you gain access to Whispers in the Wall way earlier. Since you'd get some decent gear you should be able to handle the newer content and return to older content on your own time. Difference is, you still have to go through old content, but you can decide when you want to instead of being forced to.
Then you'd also get a booster pack of sorts to help you through the base game, making your progress overall much faster.

Yikes Pay to skip quests, one big thing I think will influence this is how much will it cost to do that. for example if you are skipping a quest that rewards a warframe is that going to cost like 200+ plat? is it going to be one lump sum to catch up to current/or just up to Whispers. It's tough to see a way this will go over well as it is intended for new players, but slapping a massive pricetag on it will just dissuade new people from playing.

Pay to skip is just weird because of how unneccessary it is. Outside of New War playtime and the necromech/railjack grind, the mandatory quests aren't long enough to be considered too much of a gatekeep for new players.
Hell 99% of the quests in the game are just normal missions that lore-dump on you while you play it, or somewhat explain the gimmick of the new mission-type.
It just feels like it's only there to add more monetization. Kind of funny as the overpriced Heirloom packs are still being sold while this is announced too.
New players want the shinny new thing. This is nothing new in MMOs. I agree that it's an important journey to go through, but alas that's not the mentality of everyone. And they want to retain the chunk of players that don't think like that. Monetization may be questionable, but not the need for a skip button. As a game as a service company it would be a shot in the foot to ignore the percentage of new players they immediately lose a few days after a big update because they didn't want to wait to access the shiny content. It's as if Marvel would bar people from seeing the new Avengers movie without having watched the previous entries.

It's funny that they say the skip is not "a greedy thing" but they're using Whispers in the Wall as an excuse to do it, as if people would want to start playing Warframe because they "heard about a new update and want to play it asap". No, they won't, I'm pretty sure the majority of new players start playing Warframe because 1- is "f2p Destiny" or 2- they heard about other players how great the game and the community is and they try it out.
Warframe at the state it is now, it's not new player-friendly and if it's already confusing to people at the start of the game, imagine paying to get all the mechanics of the game at once together with a lot of upgrades AND not knowing anything about the lore. To me, this pay-to-skip makes no sense and is, in fact, a greedy decision.
IDK if you saw the whole stream but the Abridge cuts a lot of the discussion out-- Reb did talk a good chunk about this (stream went like 20 minutes over time) and the reaction to the skip proposal; likewise cut from the Abridge she did also note she's made it a goal to constantly tweak NPE and make it better for those starting out.

Yep! Remember when DE would tell you that they valued your time that you played on their game? What a surprise, just a corporation buttering you up and only caring if you're a recurrent spending user. If that wasn't obvious, them trying to add pay to skip story is.
Edit: Not to mention you would need about 5-6 formas for a Smeeta build. So not only did your time get disrespected for trying to get it, many of ours was for putting as many formas on it while also trying to get it.

Its not a skip lore button, its a "skip every slow mission you had to do in order to get the cool stuff" button. You still get a lore recap of everything.

To be honest, as a occasional returnee that can't be bothered to go through or don't care/not interested about a lotta story shit that locks content, i would be more than fine with something to skip all that. ( i keep reinstalling and uninstalling it just because of that reason, it's such mass of clutter i don't even know wtf am i doing anymore).

Joking aside, what do you feel about the pay-to-skip (or catch up) idea? Why or why not would it be beneficial?
I think it’s perfectly fine tbh,you can already buy railjack and mechs,the quests are replayable,and it’s just a way to get friends to the point they can play with you,especially since you can gift it
I want to bring more of my friends into the game, but the pay-to-skip probably wont do it. They first need to care for the game to even consider donating for it. So it needs more thinking. Like, i am 3k hours past this feature, and new people probably wont care enough to engage with it either. And all of those friends i care and want to see in the game always point at that "100h before fun starts" and shrug me off.
We need another catch up method. LIke make "Natah" a starting quest baseline after the intro one, and make all those before it, as "prequel" quests. Somthing like this but there is much to consider like locked archwing (make it unlocked permanently) and lore overload, like how is a newbie going to have an idea on wtf is "sentients?!"

Bad idea. First of all if playing through the story is too much time commitment, you most likely aren't going to like the game anyway since everything in warframe is quite a time sink, and secondly if a new player pays to skip, they aren't going to have any fucking clue what is going on or what they're doing since they won't be eased into it.
For those who've played it, imagine a new player picking up path of exile and being given the option to skip straight to level 70, post act 10, with all the skill points you would have at that point, given a set of basic gear and skill gems based on you're starting class, and 6 ascendancy points.
The game is already overwhelming starting off in act 1, now imagine having to figure out where to put all you're ~90-ish skill points without bricking you're build, deciding an ascendancy and where to put those points, where to put all the skill gems they gave you, then figuring out how those skills work, AND THEN being told "okay, here's the atlas of worlds, immortal syndicate, delve, heist, bestiary, sanctum, incursion, expedition, etc., have fun, and go fuck yourself!".
TL;DR: It'd be very overwhelming, a better idea would be just a shortened story system, perhaps just count the quests as completed when players reach certain conditions, like certain starchart nodes completed, railjack built, necramech built etc..
@@umbralaasimar9463every quest is not replayable as DE couldn't be assed to even make that work. People are going to be able to skip quest at this rate that they'll never be able to play. If you're going to pay to actually skip playing the game, you're actually better off not playing at all. Not to mention most these quests serve as a tutorial to teach you how to play them, or the fact that you'll miss out on vital resources such as endo, mods, credits, and each own planets resources, and with how most these missions are created as content islands with their own individual resources, missing out on those would also force you to miss out on frames, weapons, and arcanes. Which also nerfing charm further exacerbates this issue.
There is zero viable way to be able to introduce this and not create the same exact issue that they think they're trying to sell you the solution to. Skip the story all you want, you'll still have to play for hundreds of hours to be able to make anything like the rest of us, defeating the purpose, and only existing to rob people of their money with no return, and even missing out on content that they can't replay.

Yeah they come back in later Nightwaves, majority of the earlier Nightwave exclusive stuff has already come back at least once
i think DE should open up a discussion about the story skip... i mean, i like the idea of story skip. but hear me out first, new player coming to warframe because they saw a trailer for the cool stuff (latest quest, new prime warframe, etc) but they need time to do that and that time could be like ~40+ hours in to the game (maybe ~20 hours if you just grind non-stop), and that would sucks for them because they need to slog through the other quest, the mastery requirement, and probably other stuff too. So... let's say you got 1 to 3 hours a day to play, to play the latest quest you probably need around a month to do it, so yeah that sucks for them. New player want to play the latest quest but they need to slog trough the game for about a month then they can play the latest quest.
While I understand the idea, pay to skip is just gonna confuse new players. Like they are already confused over the tutorial and you're telling me they can go directly to New War or some shit??
Yea.. it’s likely to appear more as a greedy money pull, especially to newer content creators who don’t go far into games they’re reviewing. What would be better would be a better random generation of the star chart missions(the biggest time sink), and some platinum purchases that’d make the missions more consolidated or offer faster progression.

Tbh pay to skip isn't a bad thing. I have tried to get so many friends into Warframe and most of them left before the 2nd dream quest, while the ones who got to it still stopped playing because it just really doesn't hold up well enough on its own to hook players who have been bored until they got to it anymore, plus there is a big grind curve after it. I think being able to skip to 2nd dream and not have to grind as much is a good thing and would stop a lot of players from leaving without experiencing the good parts of the game. I don't think you should be able to skip PAST 2nd dream though, cause that'll just be confusing af (looking at you ff14).
If they don't enjoy the early days of the grind, the later days aren't going to be much better. If you want to play something with them and they don't want to play this game, find another game you both can enjoy.
@@sirgoreth9176 They played until 2nd dream and couldn't even get a single flawed flow mod, the grind for new players is a lot worse than when you already have a semi functional build and just trying to make it better.
in that case, the pay to skip doesn't help. The improvement that is needed is in player onboarding. Guaranteed rewards such as junctions should get players all basic essential mods and explain why those mods might be used, as well as the mod enhancement process and the mod cost system. Pay to skip is a side solution to the problem of a player not knowing or learning how the game works. Simply getting the materials that you might earn from the farm by paying without knowing the system from spending the time in it won't help keep those players, the system itself should be improved before having players pay to bypass it.
Not as a solution to the actual problem, but you could have provided them with a copy of those essential mods yourself, most of them go for less than 5 plat if you don't have spares.
Also no Tennogen will be added this year until they figure out cross save shenanigans. Rip tennogen creators and me waiting for that yareli helmet :/

Also imagine not getting resource endo, mod, and credit drops because you chose to skip the missions by paying. Thus bringing you back to square one for needing to grind the materials to make the most basic stuff in the game.

I don't really need to say anything on pay to skip, if you play this game, only to whip out the credit card to skip all the quests, not only is that just corporate greed, but also what's the point in playing a game if you're just gonna skip everything, now I'm not gonna act like EVERYTHING in Warframe is worth playing (K-drive among other things are good examples, especially Waverider) but going from Awakening, and then paying to skip all the way to the New War, or Whispers in the Wall just makes me think you shouldn't play at that point, that's just my opinion though
peope whip out their wallet to pay for plat all the time in this game. If they want to skip, they can redo the quests anyway. Its their choice. Its hard telling your friends that the game gets good after 100 hours.
@@JobeFNo they can't. Every quest isn't even replayable currently, and missing out on vital resources, Endo, credits, and mods for progression isn't gained, bring the exact same issues back to light.
The main issue is the game was never designed for new players in mind. That's been neglected for the last decade. They're either going to have to find a way to completely rework it, or lie in the bed full of shit that they created.

Imagine if instead of spending $10 to skip the awful necramech grind you'll only ever use for 5 minutes to qualify for five hours of stealth missions as not your warframe, you could pay just $5 and skip both those things and just keep playing warframe. And the railjack part, too.
