  • The bushings in the beam where split and starting to move around, so the best way to fix that is to repalce the bushings and weld up a small crack that is starting in one of the beams. With the beams being around $3000, we like to catch these issues and fix them before they get any worse.

    I Completely understand throwing the weld in and just reinforces my belief that you are a stand up guy that cares about what leaves your shop, most shops would have thrown an extra 2 hours and a welding fee onto the bill but you understand how much of your business relies on customer relations. 👍

    Where did you get the tool for pressing the bushing in?

    Hope you see this comment… I’m preparing to do this job. I was curious if a 100 ton press is sufficient, or if I should look for a 150? According to Hendrickson, it says “at least 80 ton,” but you obviously see them with decades of rust. One other question, what is the labor time for this job if you don’t mind me asking?

      our press is 100 tons and we have never had an issue. I've only had a few that really took all 100 tons to get them out.
      I've had the whole press jump off the ground 1/16" when the bushing let loose. press probably weighs 6000+ lbs. they can really be stuck in there.

    Wouldn't it do to throw a coat of paint on the beam after you scaled it?

    Is the bushing assembly tool required? Can you get the old ones out without a press, and back in for that matter? I have a 12 ton press, is that enough pressure to drive these bushings? Lastly, where can you buy the bushing kit for these suspensions?

    • @simcoespring
      @simcoespring  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You need the installation tool.
      You can get the old ones out but they are destroyed in the process.
      You need at least 60-75 tons to get the bushings in.
      I do sell these bushing kits. But only locally.

    Engine oil is not good for bushings. It makes them deteriorate. Auto 101

      He didn't get oil on the rubber only on the steel outer sleeve of the bushing and the walking beam steel bore please don't be an armchair mechanic. This guy is doing very good work
