Tying Shoes Using The Bunny Ear Method

- As an occupational therapist in the school district, I have the opportunity to help kids with fine motor deficits. Sometimes I get to help them work on tying their shoes. Using the "bunny ear" method has been by far the most effective way of teaching them. Some of these kids can pick it up in just a few attempts.
After 5 years of trying to tie shoe laces, i never heard of the bunny method until now. Thank you so much

After years of the struggle of me being embarrassed, and googling COUNTLESS of times "how to tie my shoes", only being successful a number of times I can count with one hand; I couldn't replicate the joy of being able to tie my shoes.
Untill today!!! I finally did it!! I think it's caused people went "put the Bunny ear into the hole" and even if I asked them I never understood "WHERE IS THE HOLE???" but this explained it and now I have two neatly tied shoes done by my own hand :) thank you

bro idk if its just me but i have watched like 90 tutorials and i cant do it every tutorial i cant tie a shoe 😢😢
It takes a lot of practice! Some kids I work with takes them months before they get it. A great way to practice is by using two different colors of shoe laces (like in the video) and using extra long laces. I usually like to start practicing on a table since its a little easier that way.
If you happen to be school age, your local school based occupational therapist can help with this sort of a thing. Services are free for school based occupational therapy if you qualify. That means they may have to do a short fine motor skills evaluation. Talk to a teacher to point you in the right direction.

People tried to teach me this as a child and it never worked. I ended up learning how to tie my shoes by spending HOURS messing around with the laces until I finally figured out how to do it. I never realized how simple this was

I haven’t been able to tie my shoe for years now because when I was younger I gave up but once I watched this video I could actually do it! Now my sister can’t bully me or say that I can’t toe my shoes to somebody 🥳 thank you so so much😊

For the last step. Where did you thread it and where did you pull it from? I did everything correctly but the end was a little hard for me
I’m glad to hear you’re making progress! During the last step I wrapped the blue lace bunny ear around the red lace bunny ear. Be sure to avoid wrapping it completely underneath the first knot. Pause the video to help as needed. You got this!
