When metal detecting the tones and numbers give you an idea of what kind of metal it is. High pitched tones usually indicate precious metals. Low grunt sounding tones usually indicate iron objects

It sounded like the sensitivity was set too high and signal was a little unstable. Pin-pointer sensitivity sounded like it was set too low originally. You shouldn’t have to touch the metal. I do love metal detecting.

Since you bought that new house I hoped you’d metal detect it! Awesome! Also, good places to search are in the back yard near the house or around really big trees, people always say in those for shade and you might find some goodies
This made me think of Shawshank Redemption. Yes, big trees, fence lines, look for rocks or things that are out of place. Fence lines, for sure….Fargo. 😊

I'm an avid metal detector user when you search a homestead you will get a lot of trash. try the treasure hunting around New foundations like your new house foundation try big open field where you won't always get hits but when you do it will be worth digging you won't be getting so much trash add an open field you'll probably get better artifacts.

I would recommend searching in areas used frequently by people. Like the path between doors and driveways, garages etc. Also, when you swipe, use a slow smooth motion. The jiggling of the detector causes the wires to jump around making it think it is seeing something.
The way it detects is electromagnetic induction. So it essentially is an electromagnet. The magnet detects the eddy current of metallic objects under ground. And when that is detected, it plays a tone. Usually the tone will clue you in to the base metal. Like iron, tin, gold, silver etc. So some detectors let you set the threshold for detection. To avoid certain types of metal. It is complicated, but basically, stop lights use the same method to detect vehicles. If you see the lines cut into the pavement. They are usually square shaped. There are wires in there looped around where a car would stop. An electrical current is applied to the loop and the presence of an eddy current tells the light a car has stopped.

The wand is a pin pointer, when you dig a plug it's usually 6 inches across & 6 inches deep. 95% of stuff found is junk steel. Dig old house sights, sidewalks, dirt basements (back in the day they hid stuff in the dirt under the house). Any where people walked alot is where they'd drop the most stuff.
Maybe with all the fields he owns, there may have been older homes there. But to get him to have time to do any research, would be like "What's dat?"
I’ve been a Metal detector fanatic for almost 15 years and Ive got to say my favorite find is an 1881 Morgan silver dollar
I've been doing it for 8 years, oldest find was a lead token from the 1600s, other people in my area keep finding medieval and Roman things though lmao
I am waiting on my detector to arrive, all I know is you may want to look up old maps and that some detectors allow you to adjust the frequency so you don't pick up say the copper that's in rocks but it still tell you when you find something of the diameter of a wheat cent.
My back yard used to be a sewage/garbage dump so there’s random rock formations and metals, it’s changed a lot and now it’s a s forest I went metal detecting once there

A decent detector is gonna run you a few hundred dollars , a good one closer to 1k and they go up from there. You def need to get a better one that at least has discrimination on it so you can filter out soda cans, iron and anything else you don't want to find. Takes some time to get your detector set right as far as depth and sensitivity. I like my Garrett and have found quite a bit with it. Just the pin-pointer from Garrett is 120 bucks but they are almost impossible to beat , along with their detectors.
He didn't get much past the instructions to put it together.......hahaha. I run a Minelab Etrac, A Fisher CZ6, and a Fisher 1266-X.
Do they have a metal detector that only detects precious metals only ?
@@alceearsberry4150 the better ones have a discrimination you can set to only alert on certain metals or even all the way down to only 1 metal . Mine I can set any combo , any/all coins , one coin , pop tabs, soda cans , very customizable
@@aliasfred yea he just bought something cheap, mines nothing like yours , you got some fancy ones XD Mines just a Garrett Ace 400 Pro . Its their lower line but sill a good unit. They just came out with a 'GoldMaster 24k" that supposedly has a much higher sensitivity to gold, its close to 800 bucks tho

oh so the drinks the horchata is made with Rice and cinnamon sticks blended in a blender with condense Milk, water and sugar... The purple drink is Jamica which is hibiscus which is boiled in water and add sugar... Very good when it have the right amount of sugar added...

Metal detect edges of driveways and sidewalks where people drop things from their pockets getting in and out of vehicle or digging for keys in their pockets. Around bases of large trees in yards where people would sit in the shade. Flower beds and gardens are good also, people would lose jewelry while working.

You have to make a fence around the house with its own small driveway. Also if you widen that driveway you can make it two driveways. You just have to put some sort of divider. But you can end the divider after the first house line ends. Hopefully that makes sense.
Hats off to the boys for grinding one out, of a content mistake. After the dig in the driveway, I'd have been cut the cameras. It's time for a beer.

The linpointer is for when u dig it out the ground, its usually full of crap and mud or what ever and it makes it hars to see, so the pin pointer helps distinguish between each scoop of dirt u take out

Legend has it it's always under or next to a fence post. No one gets suspicious of a man digging a hole for a fence post and the post works as a permanent marker. Kinda like third post from the corner on the southern fence.

Oh and I'm pretty sure the smaller detector is used the probe through the hole in the center of the bigger one so you can pinpoint where the object is before digging....and creek beds, especially old dried up ones, are your best bet to find gold.

I metal detect pretty frequently, I would suggest looking near water sources. Also if you use Gaia gps you can see where old 1900-1930 buildings once were and metal detect around those.

You could always check the creeks on your properties. I knew a guy in Alabama the found a cash of old guns in an old barn he found on some land he bought. The barn was dated back around civil war time. And the creek near by he found old knives rifle barrels and old bullets.

The best solution Flair is to repair the home and make it a guest house. I've been watching a lot of vlogs of people either have a RV for family or wish that had a guest house for visitors. Hell, maybe even install solar and tap into the energy company and have them pay you. Have an inspector come out to check your foundation, roof, electric and plumbing when they become available just to be on the safe side. If they say "tear down" go for it then.
I would use that tin in the sheds you were detecting to finish the shop at your 1st property. I've tore down sheds and build new ones with the material. It would be a cool video.

Go to your town hall and find the old maps of the homesteads and they marked where the outhouses were, a lot of people threw coins and rare bottles in the outhouse holes before they filled them in and moves them.
FLAIR u want to dig those high tones also detect the whole front yard i guarantee u will find some sliver also check around all the big trees around the house and the backyard as well
When you go metal detecting always look along small creek beds and in hallows and ravines. You will be surprised by the blackpowder bullets you may find along with medals from Cavalry men having skirmishes along the runs. That is where your big money can be made.
