Hey, just wanted to share this evergreen tip. I had carefully trimmed some cuttings from an arbor vitae growing by our home - admittedly these were quite short, as it had been fairly closely trimmed not too many months b4, as it had been overgrown and half dead when we bought the abandoned property. These cuttings I took off to use in a vase with red roses for a very special occasion centerpiece for a family member on a very tight budget, lasted a VERY long time. Very. After the occasion the roses lasted a while, but the Arbor vitae and the dusty miller ( I'd had in my mixed flower pot which I'd brought in for the winter to prolong it awhile), lasted for well over a month !!! In the vase, I changed the water now n then. I had used some flower preservative at 1st I think, but not after that. So, my take away was WOW, that stuff and maybe (??) many species of evergreen last very well in a vase !

Love love love your dupes! During our kid's toddler years we placed our Christmas tree in a playpen. Wrapped presents (faux or not) made no difference to curious little fingers that wanted to tear open the presents. That way they could stand close to it and look at everything, but curbed any damage.

I always say that everyone has such great thrift stores. Haven’t been to any of mine recently but I live in a pretty poor area so the pickings during the year are not nearly as nice as yours.
Sometimes I drive over to a more expensive part of town, I've found some nice stuff at Goodwill near where the wealthy folks live.
