Why not use the drain plug instead? I wouldn't drop the oil pain in my car to change the oil?

Fyi I have the clymer manual for my 97 Polaris sportsman 500 4x4 and my clymer manual does state that you can substitute ATF TYPE F for the demand drive fluid

why not just drain it out the fill hole then you won't risk breaking the seal

Thanks for the vid.I bit the bullet as well and forked over some good coin but at least I know Polaris fluids will keep my Sportsman running smoothly.

When you took the center hub off
--- I would have waited until the water stopped running out before continuing.

Mike... my 2001 Sportsman 500 HO was placed on jacks for maintenance and while testing the AWD, I noticed the following:. The RF free spins when the other 3 tires stop. Is this normal operation for the front differential and hubs or do I have a problem? The AWD seems to work fine when riding. Thanks for your help, your videos and I have subscribed.

That rig has something called a Hilliard clutch inside the Hub. I think you're supposed to use the specified oil

Hi, would you be able to tell me the size of the O ring that goes into a 2003 Polaris Sportsman 500 HO carburettor? I am talking about the O ring that goes on the barrel that holds the float needle. I am having problems getting the right size and the right quality O Ring, the ones that are sold on eBay do not last, I am trying to get the Viton Fluorocarbon O rings. Can you please help?
    Regards,
    Franco

Could this be the reason that one of my front tires aren't spinning in AWD or is the armatures? I have heard both, and don't really know which one to try!

The 4WD light does come on when I slide the switch but then only one spins. I have had the wheeler on the jack with all the tires off and I tried it in 4 wheel drive, and it didn't work. I took apart the hub and cleaned everything, and then I put everything back and the tire spun, but as soon as I put weight on it it doesn't spin at all!

the one way clutch outer race is probably spinning inside the hub..

      From my repair manual:
Polaris demand drive hub fluid (part No. 2871654).
      or ATF Type F.
      Transmission fluid is much cheaper.
